Got my acceptance letter in the mail today (Seattle). In it I was awarded a small amount of money to apply towards first year tuition. I'm curious if everyone received that money or if this is one of the merit scholarships they mention that are available? I noticed a lot of people on last years thread saying they got the same thing. If it is a merit "scholarship" (it is a one-time thing, not for all four years), does anyone know if this is the furthest their merit scholarships go or is there an opportunity to be awarded more later? I loved UCLA but it's a lot more expensive for me than my in-state option.
Just curious if anyone knows anything about their merit scholarships before I call.
This info could be wrong, but according to a geffen student (albeit a few years ago when the budget situation was better), any additional merit scholarship you get (on top of what all accepted geffen students get for the first year) will be inside your admissions letter. In other words, outside of financial-need based assistance, anything else geffen would offer you is already in the letter. Heres where I got this info:
