Hey guys,

I have some news. So I just called the admissions office.

The lady there told me the class is full--all 121 offers have been made/notified. I was surprised because I thought there would be a wave today or tomorrow, but she said all acceptances have been made and notified already.

One bit of good news though is that she said that admission offers will be extended throughout April (instead of after May 15) as people decline their acceptances. Crazy!

I know! why did the British guy tell us there would be another wave this week when that was not accurate? Or maybe there was a wave earlier this week, but none of them was on sdn? 😕

It seems really strange/unlikely that no sdners got an acceptance, or wouldn't have posted about it

aboveandbeyond posted on 03-26-2012, 09:30 PM, but noone believed 'em. could it have been true?

From what ive seen, it might be a while before a significant number of accepted people end up withdrawing. A lot of people like to hold acceptances at schools they wont ever attend until the aamc kicks them in the behind after may or so

I think waiting for financial aid has a lot to do with how long people hold onto a school, but that is usually mid-April. I suppose anyone who holds on longer may have other pressing uncertainties.

You guys think the lady lied so that people would stop calling? They probably know about sdn and that the news will spread. The obsessive people calling are probably the same one's stalking this forum.

I actually have no clue about what to believe at this point. After talking to them about the process and then, seeing the different conflicting statements here on SDN, I'd say maybe they're kept in the dark about it all. Whenever the admissions committee decides to send stuff out, then they'll know. Otherwise, maybe it's a guessing game for them too.

Today I actually went to the office at ~6:20 p.m. Although the admissions office was already closed, I could see that there were at least two people working. I will check tomorrow; maybe someone will be there despite it is a holiday and I'll keep you guys updated. Stay positive!!!

Theres a possibility that they were originally going to send a small wave this week to cover for the people that have already withdrawn. If thats the case, it seems that not enough ppl have withdrawn (from what we are hearing).

I really hope there is another wave today, otherwise that means UCLA has been lying to us for weeks about more offers going out. I don't get why they are so secretive about the specific numbers.

Just because no one on SDN saw an acceptance after the first wave doesn't mean there weren't people accepted after the first wave.

I kind of disagree. I know what your saying, for sure not everyone is on sdn, but they clearly said there were still a "good" number of acceptance to go out, and 40/40 people not being on SDN, i highly doubt that. there were three waves of acceptances just in march in one UCLA thread and all three had SDNer posting. but hey, i'm really just hoping I'm right because I want to think more our coming haha.

Perhaps the lady was saying the class is full because it is. Just because they made the decision doesn't mean they posted it on our status pages yet. I'm optimistically hopeful🙄

So true. Every week since march 9th we have called and they never said acceptances went out during those weeks, but this week (which was originally gonna be an acceptance week, maybe it still is) ian actually said acceptances were gOnna go out. The week of march 9th, they told us acceptances would go out. So its fair to say that they didnt suddenly decide to stop disclosing that info for the last two weeks, then suddenly change their minds again this week.

another round definitely went out...good luck to all!

btw, so second look is just a day? sorry if I missed something, but are there student hosts or is hotel our best bet?

I am guessing this person was not trolling, and a smaller, second wave did go out this week. I believe this because the admissions office said a wave would go out this week, and I don't know why they would lie about that. This makes me sad.... Now for more waiting... :xf:

Socrates never lied, he just changed his mind.

If the admissions office says they'll release acceptances this week, they probably will...

...unless they don't. Which probably means something came up and they changed their plans.

This does happen.

I know it's a hard wait. Good luck folks! :luck:

True, i think if they end up not sending any this week, its because less people end up withdrawing than expected. This scenario is far more likely than the office having some malignant elders of zion conspiracy in which they lie to us. Lol

Just an elder gods conspiracy.

All hail Nyarlathotep!

Such a great show/series of books! Just got into them.

Totally unrelated. Sorry.
I think having something totally unrelated for even a brief second lets us all relax a little bit.
It's usually easy to distract myself, but when it isn't, it's because of UCLA.

If you like Game of Thrones, I'd suggest Joe Abercrombie "The Blade Itself" and Patrick Rothfuss "The Name of the Wind".

My only complaint abut GofT is that they aren't really books about people. They are books about houses seen through the eyes of people. People are so disposable and sometimes uneventful, that they're almost used as cameras for us to view world events through before they are discarded. Don't get me wrong, I like grim, gritty, politics as much as the next man in my fantasy... yeah I said that.

So are people just ignoring the phone call to admissions yesterday in which a women told the applicant that 121 acceptances have been given out?

I actually really like how the people come and go and there's not one set person to represent each house throughout the series. People live and die, but that's more realistic (if some fantasy world with dragons and all that crap can be described as such). Seeing how harsh that whole world is, I would be surprised if any characters lasted too long.

New season this Sunday!

Hopefully this is serving as a nice distraction.

More like optimistic denial of it.

Some people are saying she lied to us. Im not one of those people. Lol

It's not a matter of ignoring or believing her. Each and every one of us will check their status after the office closes today. And if no one on SDN gets excited then we enter into what I like to call Applicant Hibernation.

it's quite possible that admissions sent out a wave by post, and didn't update it online. i mean, the status site has been down since around late thursday afternoon i believe?

Just leave the social security box blank and log in, its fine. Dont worry about the site being down, it never means anything.

this is probably one of the most unhealthy threads on SDN for those involved in it (have not been accepted etc)
