looks like a lot of people got hold for interview statuses on the 30th...i've been complete since 9/15 and haven't heard anything back from them yet. I'm IS (SD native)...anyone else in the same boat?
 
Also IS, complete since 10/03 but did not receive the hold status...

i think everyone that got hold statuses on the 30th had their applications complete much before us. guess we just gotta keep waiting...

I was complete October 30th and I got the hold status. :xf:

Just interviewed here. UCSD is SO awesome! The people were incredibly friendly and the facilities/support staff/mentorship is out of this world.

However, if you are a PRIME applicant please note that your interview here counts for both MD and PRIME - I didn't know this. Also, PRIME applicants typically do an MMI here instead of two faculty interviews, but if they can't schedule you for the MMI they will make you do the two facutly interviews like other applicants do, but evaluate you for both programs. It's not like UCSF or UCLA that have completely separate interviews for PRIME.
 
I have yet to complete my secondary app.. 😱

Glad you enjoyed your interview! I am a first year, and UCSD is completely out of this world for med school. Everyone in my class is super happy (the no grades thing removes 80% of the stress of med school) and the facilities rock. As someone who had the luck of being able to choose where I went to school, going to UCSD was the best decision I could have made. Drop me a line if you have any questions.
 
Interview invite today! Scheduled for mid-January. I thought UCSD had completely forgotten about me since I've been complete since 9/15, so don't lose hope!
 
I hope to hear soon from them, I have been complete since 10/29... Anyone on the same boat??
 
I have a question...

So I was invited to interview back in late October, but my interview wasn't scheduled until February. Is that weird or is that just me? I'm a little bit paranoid that they scheduled interviews in terms of how much they liked the candidate. I've seen that other people received invites after me and have interviews scheduled before February.
 
Accepted yesterday via an email from Brian. Interviewed 12/15.

They told us that we'd likely not hear anything until mid January, but that if our interviewers turned in their evaluations quickly and attended the admissions committee meeting on the 20th, we might hear back early. My interviewer emailed me today saying that was the case.

They interviewed into late March last year. The last invites on SDN came in early March. The poster was accepted April 7th. So, there's time. I submitted the 22nd, good luck to both of us. 🙂

I am on hold for interview and am wondering about anything I can do to increase my chances of coming off hold and receiving an invite???

Does anyone any info about letters of interest/update to UCSD and if they are receptive?? I know the hold email gave a definitive NO but has anyone sent in anything and had positive results maybe last year or accepted applicants earlier this year...???

I'm on pre-interview hold as well, and based on last year's thread it seems like people weren't given invites until early February.
 
Jan 31 II. Am I at a disadvantage for interviewing so late? When does UCSD stop interviews?

They do not consider updates and the chances of getting off the hold list are slim (<10%).
 
Does anyone know the value of sending in post-acceptance updates? I'm still in school so I've been sending updates to places post-interview, but I haven't heard anything about updating a place where I have been accepted. This might not apply to UCSD, but could it help with financial aid awards?

Just got accepted today. In state. Interviewed 1/12/12. Good luck everyone!
 
I was placed on "hold" today as well, saying they would review my file again at the beginning of February. I have my hopes up a little now. I'm OOS; is this a good sign as an OOSer or does it not mean much for receiving an interview invite?

I heard from a friend that there's around a 10% to 15% chance of receiving one. I'm not sure how he came up with the number, but he's at UCSD right now, so I'll trust him.

10% to 15% is a lot higher than their acceptance rate, so I'll take that as a positive note. 😀

For PRIME applicants who already interviewed MMI, do you know when in Feb we would hear back regarding our application status?
 
ACCEPTED! 😀 Out of state, 37S/3.9. I interviewed last week, so UCSD is lightning fast here. This is unequivocally my first choice school.
 
I just got offered interview off the Hold list. So it does happen guys!
