According to MSAR they send secondaries to screened applicants. In the secondary invitation e-mail they said:

"Ideally those applicants who are selected for an interview will have achieved the minimum:
-Overall and BCPM GPA's of 3.00
-MCAT score of 24
-Applicants who have achieved the minimum GPA, but have not yet taken the MCAT, may continue the Supplemental Applicant with the understanding that the minimum MCAT score will be required before the application is considered for an interview."

Are the interviews going out slowly or what? I want one baaaad 🙁.

SO ive got to be the dumbest person ever. i got a secondary invite like 8/1 and my inbox was so flooded with secondaries i didnt notice/forgot about ucf. its been like 2-3 weeks now.. should i still go ahead and submit it? or will ucf think im not interested since i submitted it late? bc i dont wanna waste money ugh.

2.5 weeks shouldn't make a huge difference...and it's only 30 bucks. if you have an interest in going, you should apply 🙂

It's OK. I sat on roughly 20 secondaries because I was waiting for the AMCAS fee waiver (I paid for UCF though because it's so cheap). Some things are (somewhat) out of your control. I'd definitely submit. 🙂

does anyone know if tuition will be waived for this application class as it was for the first couple of years?

I doubt tuition will be waived again. That's a lot of money for a brand new school to dish out.

Tuition and Fees

UCF College of Medicine tuition and fee rates are reset annually and cover courses taken during the academic year. The structure and length of the academic year changes with each class level. Although the academic term is the full academic year, tuition is billed semi-annually.
The 2011-2012 estimated tuition and fees are:

  • Florida Residents: $25,000
  • Non-Florida Residents: $53,000
does anyone know if tuition will be waived for this application class as it was for the first couple of years?

Tuition was billed this year. My friend who's a first year said they all only got about 5K each this year in scholarship.

I just got the phone call! I'll be visiting UCF next month. 🙂

What would have happened if you didn't pick up the phone or your phone was off all day?

They actually left me a message asking me to call them back, which I did a few minutes later.

Haha ahh okay well that was expected. Any way man congratulations and good luck on the interview not that you need any luck you got this!! 👍

To UCF College of Medicine...

Keep up hope dude! You deserve some good news. I'm sure you'll get some.

(PS: I was complete really early, and still no word here either)

Thanks, guys. 🙂 In case anyone's interested, they told me that the next interview date available was on 9/16. I had to schedule it for 9/30 due to other interviews.

Hey, Vandy, I'll be at your school on 9/20.

Oh I'm still in good spirits! 🙂. I just wanted to post a horribly sappy love song to let UCF know how I feel. Also, thanks for the support, and you stay patient as well. :luck:.

Hey, Vandy, I'll be at your school on 9/20.

Are you staying with a student host? I'm sure you'll be too busy, but I've already offered to give tours of the undergrad side of campus for any applicant curious enough. It should cool down a bit by then as well.

I'm not sure what my lodging arrangements will be yet, but I may actually be in Nashville for an extra day or two. I may take you up on your offer if this ends up being the case. Thanks. 🙂

Just PM me 🙂.

Does this school have a generous need based scholarship?

This thread is so quiet! REL, where are you???

I recently accepted a paid position in clinical research at my school's children's hospital. I'm wondering if this is worth an update? I'm going to be back home in October as well, and I'm wondering if I should send an "in the area" e-mail? 😉

Can you pay instate tuition after being in Florida for 1 year?

I cannot answer your second question but as to the first, YES that is absolutely a worthwhile update and I would not hesitate to send such updates of that sort. Those are the kind of things they are looking for when schools take updates and this applies to not just UCF but u should send that to all schools that have not prohibited updates.

Thank you Guju, yes, updates are welcome here if received via email. We can cut-n-paste them right into AMCAS so that our committee will see the information when your file is reviewed. As for grade updates, a semesterly grade report/sheet from your school's site for that term is also welcome -- no need to send a formal transcript until after acceptance. In the case of research papers, the entire paper is NOT going to be added to your file, but we will move the opening paragraph into your file. If you use good sense with updates it can benefit you --- dont send several "ADD" emails with 1 to 2 sentence updates....make sure there is some substance to report. Multiple, short emails with information of limited value becomes a hindrance and makes admissions staff "wonder" about character and coping skills--- you dont want to make admissions staff "wonder!"

I dont understand why programs wont take updates prior to the decision to interview --- it may say something about the rigidity of that program and their coping skills!!! It doesnt speak to partnership and support for the applicant in my lil pea brain.

PS: Guju, eye ownlee apeer win summond so's eye doant git in da whey!!

I want to update UCF on my summer grades since I am a borderline applicant in terms of GPA, but I don't want to be a nuisance for the admissions staff. Should I e-mail UCF about the 0.02 improvement in science GPA from the summer grades, or just leave it till the end of the semester, where the improvement would be 0.08? I was also planning on using the update as an opportunity to re-iterate my interest in the school. Is it okay to combine a letter of interest with the update?

Thanks so much for your help. If anyone happens to the know the answer, please chime in as well. I am concerned waiting till December would put me at a disadvantage (since GPA is the primary issue with my app), but the update I have right now may not be significant enough to warrant an update.

^Definitely agree to the bolded. Unless it's something really trivial, I would think the school would want to be made aware. This is why I love UCF 😉

Thank you both for responding. This is my first month working, and so I'm going to update in a week or two when I have a better idea of everything the job entails and what I am getting out of it (I'd like to write a meaningful e-mail and not just "Hey guys, I got a job." 🙂).

It seems that invites are going out slowly so far, should we expect it to pick up this month? :xf: 😀

I'm in the same situation. I decided to just wait until December (long way away 🙁). My GPA will only change 0.05 with straight A's this semester, so it's more of the trend of improvement that's relevant. I think this applies to you as well.

Coming home on the 29th for a few days...going to stand outside the medical center with boombox in hand:

😍

Well either way I don't think it would be over doing it. so you can do it now or wait if u really wan to. BTW don't be afraid if you don't hear back for a while. it took a while for me when I interviewed there to hear back about getting an interview. And u will still have a good shot whether u interview last day of the interview cycle or first day.
Thanks for the encouraging words. 🙂
I think I will wait till I have more substantial news since UCF doesn't seem to reject applicants till the app cycle is near the end.

Tell me how it goes. I may do an encore for them the following month at the same time

Copycat. Come up with your own way to express your love for UCF. My idea was totally original and has never been done before 😉

Hey guys, thanks for showing my school some love 😍

Even though I'm a newly minted MS-I, I'd be happy to answer any questions y'all might have. Feel free to post/PM me questions about school or the admissions process in general. Good luck with applying; looking forward to meeting you guys!

I completed June 23rd and had a question, in the beginning my status page/ Dashboard read "AORTA ELIGIBLE FOR INTERVIEW". When I checked it today, now that message is no longer on the Dashboard does that mean I got rejected?

If you were rejected, you would have received an email. No rejections have been sent out this week. I have heard of a few instances a few weeks ago about this happening. Please email the admissions office if this problem does not resolve itself later today.

Thank you very much!!

No love from UCF? 🙁 It's only a two hour drive, I want to see! 👍

15 minutes from where I grew up 🙁. I really want to interview here.
I'm pulling for you man!

And you might want to try this: I just sent them an update letter via email and not 15 minutes later I get a phone call inviting me to interview. 😀
