My application finally was marked complete at Pritzker 9 days ago. I'm wondering if anyone knows about how long I should expect to wait to hear from them about an interview?

I ask because I live out west and need to book a flight to interview at WUSTL and U Michigan. If Pritzker is going to offer me an interview, it'd be awesome if I could get to all three schools on just one plane ticket!

I'd recommending sending the admissions office an e-mail. No guarantee that they'd be willing to accommodate, but if you give them enough advanced notice (maybe 3-4 weeks), I'm sure they'll do their best. Even if you don't have that much notice, I'd send an e-mail regardless.

In terms of how long it might take, it could be anywhere from a day or two to (more likely) a week or so to significantly longer.

During my recent interview here, the interviewer asked me if I (TX resident) got any TX schools pre-match offers and also about other out of state school interviews/acceptances. I told him about my other interviews and three pre-matches so far . Now I am wondering how this is going to affect their decision.

How long after the interview they send the acceptance/rejection letters?

I doubt it would affect their decision either way.

As far as how long, the admissions office says decisions are usually delivered in 6-8 weeks, but don't be surprised if it's longer, especially since multiple holidays are coming up.

Rejected, after being put on hold in July. Disappointing! I wonder what Pritzker is looking for that differs from other schools of its calibre.

Anyway, good luck to those still left standing! 🙂

How should I send an update letter, snail mail or email? What address? Thanks 😉

Best of luck in the rest of the cycle!

I would personally send a snail mail letter just because that's how I roll, but I don't think it matters one way or another. If in doubt, call the admissions office and ask if they have a preference.

In either case, you'll just send the e-mail/letter to the general admissions office address. They'll stick it in your file for you.

Pre-interview rejection email sent at 7:45 AM CT today (Saturday of a holiday weekend?! What?!). Was on hold for later review since early October-ish. Bummer, oh well.

i'm interviewing at pritzker in early january, and i think they only do interviews until january so i'm probably in one of the last batches. will that affect my chances of being accepted/continued/rejected as opposed to interviews earlier in the cycle?

thanks a lot! i'm super excited about visiting. chicago seems awesome

Since Pritzker does rolling admissions, yes, it will most likely affect your chances at least slightly because you're interviewing for a proportionally smaller number of seats in the class. But it's not something I would worry about at this point in the game.

Hopefully the weather will still be decent by the time you get here!

According to the Pritzker twitter another round of acceptances are going out tomorrow. Good luck everyone!!!

"Our Executive Committee met today...next round of #medschool accepts going out tomorrow!"

This thread is from a few years ago, but somebody called and the secretary said that when you interview does not affect your chances at Pritzker. Hopefully this is true.

Thanks! I interviewed way back in Mid-september and had not heard back until today. I honestly thought that I was put on the continued list

Received the phone call this morning too! Accepted with scholarship!! Such an amazing surprise.

usnwr says ~250 accepted

So the above quote is from page 16 of this year's thread. Does anyone else find this number to be high, especially for Pritzker's smaller class size of 88 seats?

I just find this interesting. This seems to indicate that many waitlisted applicants will get pulled to fill spots vacated by earlier accepted applicants. It also makes me wonder why so many people choose to withdraw from enrollment from Pritzker.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

ACCEPTED!!! Got the call earlier today, I can't believe it! Plus an awesome scholarship, chicago is my dream school!
Interviewed: October 6th

The most reasonable explanation that I can come up with is that the people that interview at and are ultimately accepted to Pritzker are likely, for the most part, also interviewing at (and perhaps getting accepted to) the other top schools. As a result, people likely have many choices, and it's not unreasonable to expect that many of them would choose other schools for whatever reason(s). Other schools in similar situations (pretty much every school outside of the Harvard, Hopkins, Penn tier) have the same issue: they generally accept way more applicants than they plan to matriculate, and even then they still pull students off of the waitlist.

This is some general admissions advice, not advice trying to plug Pritzker: don't worry about why other people choose the schools they go to - there are a multitude of factors that come into play, many of which are likely not important to you. Go with the school that you think is best for you - Pritzker or otherwise. That's really the only way that you can ensure that you make the best decision possible for yourself.

So the above quote is from page 16 of this year's thread. Does anyone else find this number to be high, especially for Pritzker's smaller class size of 88 seats?

Two reasons:

• The people applying to Pritzker these days tend to be fantastically qualified for medical school. Thus, they tend to get into a lot of schools.
• The other schools Pritzker applicants tend to apply to tend to be fantastic schools. As above, they tend to get into these fantastic schools, and a lot of the time these fantastic schools turn out to be better options for Pritzker applicants.

Whatever number of applicants the Pritzker admissions folks ultimately decide to accept is not arbitrary; it is a statistical estimation based on years' (decades', even) worth of matriculation behavior to the extent that they can pretty accurately predict where accepted applicants will end up based on where else they have been granted admission. I guarantee this happens at virtually every major medical school, especially those that know their applicant pool, their peer institutions, and their historical trends well.

Have to ask, cant take it anymore
I have been on the MD screen for over a month now. Im scared that they have forgotten about me (I know, paranoid), is it appropriate for me to call to find out what is going on? or should I send updates/letter of interest or should I just be patient? I have noticed that some people on SDN were over 30days, recieve rejection and some were international. SO even though I am not an international applicant, I do hold a foreign degree, Does anyone think it has anything to do with it? ..... really anxious right now🙁.

Thanks in advance🙂

Keep in mind that the school says it should take 4-6 weeks to receive a decision - you haven't even reached the 5 week point yet.

I wouldn't begin calling the admissions office until you've been waiting for about eight weeks if you're really inclined to do that. Just try not to be irritating and calling every day. Once a week will probably do.

I interviewed in September..this wait has been brutal.

I'd call and see what your status is.

Thanks NickNaylor. Yeah, I haven't called because I want to wait to the 8week mark and I will. I know Pritzker hates the irritating calling, so I will hold off on that😎. I was just anxious when I realized that Pritzker stops interviewing next month. I just have to keep myself distracted 😀. Thanks again for the advice.

anyone else interviewing here this thursday? I'm from Dallas and dreading the chicago weather. Does anyone know what the interview day is like, outdoor tours? etc

Hey Awk,

As a fellow Dallasite, it'll probably be chilly to you up here (but not too much different than what you've been getting lately). There's some walking outdoors so you'll want to bring a coat, but if the weather is terrible for some reason they'll probably limit the outdoors portion as much as possible.

The structure of the interview day is as follows (I think):

-Welcome session
-Interviews (either one or two)
-Lunch
-Tour
-Rest of your interviews

Haha I totally understand. Last year I interviewed at the end of September and didn't get a decision until mid/late December, so I understand the anxiety. I promise they'll get to you (and the length of time you have to wait isn't indicative of what the final decision will be).

Thanks! I'm not sure how I could possibly adjust to Chicago weather if i got in here, i'm ashamed to say its in the con-column of my pro-con list :scared:

That's comforting to know that wait time isn't indicative of final decision. I hope the response I recieve will be the desirable one:xf:

Been on pre-interview hold since mid August and rejected today. No biggie, I had almost forgotten I still had an application here 🙂

Good luck to everyone else!
sorry to hear that, but congrats on those acceptances😀 you got

I called into the office today and they said that I was evaluated in the last executive admissions committee meeting and that I would hear soon. Seeing as I didn't get a call or anything...that phone call may have created more anxiety than the waiting did. Lesson learned.

I was honestly just contemplating a call myself, and then I read this.

Just got rejected after 36 days on the MD screen🙁. Stings, but Pritzker was a reach school for me. It was good while it lasted Pritzker .
Good luck to the rest of you still in the running.

I got that email today too, after 4 weeks on the MD screen. I really hoped I'd get an interview at Pritzker! Ah well. Thanks Nick Naylor for all the information you've passed along.

Me three😉 Oh well. It's a great school but I realized that a traditional curriculum is not the best fit for me. Good luck to everyone else.

Got a fancy Pritzker scrub top in the mail today along with a very nice note from a M1. Very nice of them to send this before the holidays. They did send me a small while I usually go for the large or xlarge. Maybe their subtle way of telling me to workout more before fall lol.

😛

I think they send out all smalls or mediums. I had a medium too and that thing was TIGHT. Don't worry, you'll be allowed to exchange it later.

anyone on the pre-interview waitlist get off yet?
