Did any of you who got the pre-interview rejection get a letter yet? I have been interested in their UHP post-bacc program and that is the main reason why I applied. I talked to one of the representatives and they said that the admissions office would have rejected you then sent you a letter of invitation to the program.

Hey Guys.

So I interviewed at UIC last week and from what I've been reading the committee meets every third Thursday which would have been yesterday. My status is still Decision Pending, I called the medical college admissions and they said they have no idea when the committee meets. I also haven't received a "you're still under consideration" email and admissions said they don't send out such emails. They didn't mention if they've sent out acceptance letters either but from some other posters it looks like that's the case.
What should I take away from this?
Is my application going to the February meeting?
Should I expect an email about being under consideration on Monday?
Should I bust out the disappointment beer?

I was told that interviews up to Thursday of last week would be considered during the committee meeting yesterday. My guess is that your application will be considered the following month. I'd set aside the disappointment beer and have the anxiously-waiting beer instead. Good luck!

I also read that statuses can change Friday or Monday too. Is that true?

Does it really matter which campus you interview at? It seems like the Chicago one is pretty booked and you can get an earlier one at a different campus.

I interviewed at Peoria and got placed on the Peoria track, although I did have Peoria listed second behind Chicago. I don't think my interview location affected which campus I ended up at, but I suppose you never know. I'm not complaining though, I liked Peoria when I visited.

No, it doesn't matter. Campus assignments are first come first serve, so if you interview earlier, you have a better chance of getting in earlier and getting the campus you want. Based on Wolverine's post, however, it sounds like Chicago might already be full, which isn't all that surprising at this point.

I felt this might be due a more recent reposting haha

Is there any word on how long it takes for them to switch from "applicant in process" to something else? I got switched 2 and a half weeks ago and I'm beginning to get nervous because I heard they meet every third week of the month (which was this past week) and I haven't heard anything

I haven't received any letter besides the rejection. Not that I would be interested in any program like that, anyways.

Complete since August, went to Applicant in Process, then changed to Application in Process (Friday, 1/27). Anyone know if UIC is receptive to updates/what the process is for them? Thanks

+1

Received my site assignment today. I was placed on my third choice at Rockford.

OOS, interviewed in early December, accepted on late Dec.
Pretty disappointed with my site assignment.

Just curious how generous UIC is? I am oos and holding another acceptance at a much cheaper state school. I was going to wait until I receive the financial package from UIC, because there is no way I can afford 100k+ a year. Does UIC give out any scholarships to OOS?

yes there are merit scholarships for OOSers that bring the tuition at least down to IS level. i don't know how many there are, only that they do exist. i was notified about mine through a letter about 1 month after i received my site assignment, so don't lose hope. but it sounds like you are a pretty good situation with the other acceptance regardless, so congrats!

I got this message: "A final decision was made on your application on . Please allow two-weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail. If you do not receive this correspondence in two-weeks, please contact the Admissions Office. No decision will be given over the telephone."

This means rejection, doesn't it? 🙁

Did you interview?

I got the same status too..... and interviewed earlier this month...

No, this was following the message "application in process" for about 2-3 months. If you do get accepted to interview, you see a screen that allows you to pick a date right?

Yeah.... when you log in, after being offered an interview, a grid like page appears that allows you to select a date and campus.

Do you see "Additional Correspondence" in the upper right corner?

Yeah I see an Additional Correspondence tab on the upper right corner but it doesn't have a date listed or anything like the other tabs.... is this a bad sign? 🙁

I believe the Additional Correspondence post-interview is a good sign. And my additional correspondence tab doesn't have a date posted either.

So there's still hope for those whose status didn't change on Friday. My status changed today to "A final decision was made on your application on 01-30-12" along with "Additional Correspondence" at the top right corner. Was bummed out that my status hadn't changed on Friday as I felt it was my best interview so far. Either way I'm pumped that I (most likely/hopefully?) got in!

My status changed to final decision on 1/26 (Thursday) with an "Additional Correspondence" box... Hopefully this is good news. I wonder why the different days for different candidates? Maybe I'm reading too much into that.

did anyone who recently had their status changed with an "Additional Correspondance" tab receive a criminal background check email yet (CBC email)?

Hey guys are we allowed to mail a letter of interest in or can we only email them? I'd rather send a hard copy, seems like it might make more of an impact lol

Finally, interview invite! Wanted to interview in Chicago, but they didn't have any openings until 3/6 and I have an exam on 3/8. Scheduled for 2/29 in Rockford! :soexcited:

Hi! Did you get an interview invite today or was that yesterday? Just wondering to see if I should still have hope. I thought I would have to wait until end of next month to hear back now...

I have an interview invite, too! Been complete since July 7. Whew.

Today, less than an hour ago. Hang in there!

Do you guys who received an interview invite today or yesterday mind posting your stats?

Hey do you guys know if there is still a possibility of getting the Chicago campus? I have my interview scheduled for March, since I am working in another state right now, but I live about a block away from the Chicago campus. With my other acceptance, I really don't think I would attend one of the other campuses. I spoke with admissions and they said there is always the possibility to petition later (if I actually get accepted) to "switch" into the Chicago campus.

Average stats/impressive extracurriculars but I had an appointment with an admissions counselor via phone about a month ago to discuss something not at all related to "when am I going to hear?" type of questions. Mind you, I had this appointment scheduled since the end of November because they booked out so far. At the end of the phone appointment the woman kindly offered to put my application up for review soon. I was switched to "Applicant in Progress" the next day.

Looks like we are in the same boat, Sunny.

I spoke to an admissions counselor today. I've been 'applicant in progress' since August. She told me my application has been reviewed once and that a decision will be made at the end of February.

Anyone else get into the RMED program? I'm pretty excited.

I did. Mark called me Monday afternoon to let me know. I was very impressed by the program and the Rockford campus in general. The fact that the program is unopposed makes it even better.

I've got an interview scheduled at UIC March 6th and am considering canceling it since I've got the tap from RMED and would rather go through it's program anyway.

cknu, I saw in the SIU thread that you got an acceptance from there, how do you think you'll decide which you'll end up attending?

Congrats!!

Oh hey there, cycle twin 🙂

Also, I was able to switch over to Peoria on the for the 29th, since I think I was accidentally signed up for the 22nd in Rockford. I have a prior commitment on the 23rd with I can't change, so I was glad it worked out. Peoria is 3 hours from home though 🙁. Anyone interviewing then?

Are the last interview offers going to be given at the end of February or the end of March?

I have an interview invite, too! Been complete since July 7. Whew.

Congrats too all those with interviews!!! They give me hope. 🙂 I've been "applicant in progress" since Sept. 😴

Anyone get their snail mail correspondence yet (from the January Ad Com meeting)? I think I'm developing an ulcer from the anticipation!

still 'Decision Pending'.

are those of you who've been accepted Early Decision applicants?

Haven't received anything either.... and I've been frantically checking the mail this week.

I interviewed January 17th, my application went to the Jan meeting but I was still decision pending after that Thursday. I spoke to an admissions counselor today and he told me my application had been reviewed but no decision had been made so I guess that means that my application goes to the Feb meeting. More anxious waiting :/

Rejection letter last night, online status said that a final decision was made on 1-30.

The letter mentions calling for specifics about why I was rejected, has anyone else had a positive experience with contacting the office?
