Bravo for the OOS spectacle,,,I am waiting to be called to interview here and have forgotten about this, too late and all, but our post is encouragin. Good luck to you and everyone! ANd congrats to others!

If it hasn't been mentioned already, sorry to be the one to tell you this, but at my interview on the 10th, we were told that was the last interview date.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that KU is announcing the rest of the acceptances and the wait list in mid-March. If the most recent interviews hear their results at the end of February, that probably means they were the last bunch.

Does anyone know when we will hear the decisions for the Kansas Loan Program?

Thanks!

My heart started racing when I saw an email from MedAdmissions at KU in my inbox today... too bad the info doesn't mean anything to me yet since I haven't heard back about my interview. Anyone in the last round of interviews hear back yet? I guess I'll definitely know by mid March...

Dear Applicants,

We anticipate offering our final round of acceptance offers by Friday, March 16. At that time, we will begin the process of campus assignments with notifications sent during the first week in April. If you need to update your campus preferences, you may reply to this message no later than Friday, March 2.

Sincerely,
Jason Edwards

I got the same feeling when I saw the email in my inbox. I was at the gym and my heart sunk to my stomach....I interviewed in Feb so we'll be finding out together! :luck::xf:

It says "by March 16", so it may be before then. Slightly. Maybe.

I got the same message a couple of days ago...I thought it was my acceptance to KU! 🙂 I have to stay positive right. Good luck everybody! I was under the impression that KU response would arrive via ground mail???????

Maybe. Maybe not. Maybe both.

I bet those who interviewed in February will find out tomorrow. It seems like most people get the letter about 3 weeks after their interviews. That's how it's been so far. Unless they are just going to let you all know the same time they let those who were placed on hold know. Good luck you all 🙂

Yeah, I was thinking about that. I did an October interview, so I have to imagine that I've been sitting in an Excel sheet for months with a rank next to my name. When they let the February interview people know how they did, then I'm guessing all they have left to do is hit the "sort by rank" button on the Excel sheet and they'll have the list they need. At that point, it would just be a matter of letting us know where we are. I'm hoping it doesn't take all the way until March 16th, but then again, that's just me musing on how it's done.

I'm also curious as to whether or not they let us know where we fall on the wait list if we aren't accepted into the initial class. If I end up on the wait list, and am the next in line, then I can rest reasonably assured that at least one person has already been accepted elsewhere and will vacate the slot. On the other hand, if I'm near the bottom, I'll be admitting that I just need to prepare a new AMCAS application. Does anyone have any experience with how schools typically do this?

As an M1 currently at KU I can shed some light on the wailist situation for anyone interested.

Yes, you do get a rank of which position you are at on the waitlist, for example they will tell you that you are #8 on the list or whatever. They will then go down the list offerring the open acceptance until the spot is filled. They also update on the KU Meds page (where you submit your app and check your status) what number on the waitlist they are on so you can get an idea of movement and your chances. The numbers they draw from the waitlist are generally pretty consistent by may be different this year with the extra campuses and students. In the past it has usually been around 5-10 people receiving acceptances from the waitlist. First year I applied it was 0, last year I believe it was somewhere around 13 or so (check last years thread). Not trying to discourage anyone who doesn't have a high waitlist number, just trying to give you a realistic picture of the movement of the KU waitlist.

Also, when they send out waitlist letters, they generally put statistics from the past few years of how many were taken off the waitlist so that you have an idea. Hope that helps, let me know if you guys have any other questions about the admissions process or KU or whatever. I am a student ambassador here and may have eaten lunch with a few of you or taken you on a tour during your interview day so ask whatever if you feel so inclined.

Good to know. Thanks.

Hello Fellow Jayhawks,

I am stressing about finding a home in KC and I need some help KC residents. I am an out of state applicant who does not have the luxury to go out roommate or house/apartment hunting...I have been online searching but it does not compare to actually physically searching for a home. I thought the application process was stressful, but I am sure this is a common question many out of state applicants have....Thanks for your help and insight.

Thanks for that the link to facebook KU School of Medicine Class of 2016!

Do they send all of the letters (acceptance/wait list/rejection) at once? For example, they said their last round of offerings would be out by around March 16. So will every one get a letter then who had the last round of interviews? Or is it sporadic up to that date?

I was one of the Feb OOS interviews, and Dean McCurdy told us all that we would be getting our decisions the 3rd week of March, probably not any sooner. The e-mail they sent our saying they would go out the 16th is most likely all the Feb interviews, as well as the rest on hold, I would assume.

Ok! That's what I figured. Thanks and good luck!!!

Rejected via email, how disturbing...I am curious to see UKSOM still. Good luck everyone.

oh no!!!!!!! I'm sorry.....When did you interview? after the email KU sent out re: campus preference and March 16th as the day they will send out notifications I emailed them asking if we were going to get an email or a letter in the mail.

this was the response from KU:

"Hello, Thank you for the message. Our decision letters are sent regular mail. Sincerely, Jason "

I interviewed on Feb 9th so I'm just waiting around.....😴

good luck!!!!!

Sorry man. Don't take it too harsh. As the only med school in the state, they are primarily focused on producing doctors that will stay in Kansas. As I applied as a FL resident, I'm guessing I only got an II because I have very strong ties to the state (went to HS there, parents still live there).

I got my "hold" letter via regular mail two weeks after the interview. I'm fairly certain the March 16 date is the notification for those of us who are on the hold list as to whether or not we will be offered a seat or put on the waitlist. I would imagine everyone who interviewed in mid-February should be hearing back around this time, two weeks after the interview, if KU is still following the same plan they did back in October.

Hey you guys! This week is THE week! Words can't describe how incredibly anxious and excited I am for myself and everyone in this application cycle.

We have made it so far, and I wish everyone tons of luck! And regardless of what happens, we should be proud of our accomplishments and making it this far.

👍 One way or another if we're destined to be doctors we shall become one.

Good luck!

Beautifully put! So excited and anxious to find out and put my mind to rest. Going out of town this weekend though, so I might have to wait until next Monday...and this is why I'll be asking for an rx for xanax.

I check sdn like 3 times a day...just tell us already! Stop the torture.....

My guess would be to not expect anything until AT LEAST Wednesday.

If they're going to send out decisions by snail mail as they did for the interview decisions, then they would probably need to mail out by Tuesday or Wednesday to make sure the OOS people got their letters by the self-imposed (and therefore self-modifiable) March 16 deadline. For us Kansas people, that would result is a pretty fast turnaround with possible next-day delivery.

That's not to say that they won't put it in the mail earlier, or that they won't use email, or that OOS people might get their letters a little after the deadline, or that my predictions about the mail delivery times aren't accurate. I'm just making a guess.

I took the March 16 "deadline" to mean they would be sending them out by that date, not necessarily received by then. The e-mail is a little unclear in saying "We anticipate offering our final round of acceptance offers by Friday, March 16". And now I find myself analyzing the meaning of the word "offering" and it's time for me to stop. haha.

Lol, I'm expecting to hear from a few places this week, so I'm really going crazy. I wish I could just go into hibernation until the end of March and see what I ended up with then.

This is a silly question but for those of you who did receive something in the mail: Was it sent to your local or permanent address? I'm on spring break and I'm curious if it'll be sent to my home or my place at school. Thanks!

I can't remember if I differentiated between permenant and local addresses, but if I did, then they sent it to my local address.

So if I was right, tomorrow is the earliest we should be fanatically checking every form of signal input linked to our names...

Ya I suppose. Do you think it will be posted in any way online? I'm on spring break!!!

According to the admissions office, they're sending out letters today.

Did you call them and ask, or is that on the website somewhere?

I just spoke with someone in the admissions office. The letters are sent to your permanent address. She sounded really busy so I didn't want to ask if they've been sent out! Sorry guys!!

Last night I thought it would be a good idea to read through the past two years' application threads. Instead of feeling encouraged, I induced an anxiety attack in the middle of clinic at JayDoc. Ended up having an m1 calm me down and convince me to stop reading SDN.

I need SDN rehab....

That happened to me when I sat for 2.5 hours and read through this entire thread. It was a bad idea. No use getting anxious now. Hopefully, everything will turn out for the best.

It's only slightly frustrating to know that there are people out there right now who are fully aware as to my status, and I am not.

The impatience didn't hit me until right... now.

Today might be the day! Going home over my lunch break to check the mail!

Anyone check their mail yet? I apparently beat the mailman to my mailbox during my break, so I'm waiting for at least an hour until my roommate gets home and checks for me.

No....I'm literally sitting on my porch drinking coffee twiddling my thumbs. I considered biking up and down my block in my pajama's, but that might freak people out.

Nothing yet. I really hope it's today.......

I made it back, no letter yet! What's even more depressing is it was filled with bills 🙁. I live in Lawrence, so hoping to get it by tomorrow in preparation for the best (or worst) St. Patty's celebration of my life.:luck:

It looks like they are going to use up all the clock....I am still waiting for the mail today???? :xf:
