I received my secondary today, as well--so excited!

if you're OOS a secondary means an interview?

EDIT no wait - my email says "Please complete the supplemental application within two weeks. If you are selected for interviews, you will receive an email from our Interview Coordinator with instructions for scheduling." ... so, not so much.

No secondary for me yet. 🙁 When did you all receive the "AMCAS ACKNOWLEDGEMENT" email? I got it on 6/27..

Hey Everyone,

Please be advised that the UNC secondary may not be entirely secure. I had some sort of glitch that ended with me being logged into some other guy's secondary, or so it seemed. I was a little spooked and e-mailed the admissions people with a screenshot and other details. I will let you know how UNC responds.

did you enter the wrong aamc id when creating your password?
 
OOS received secondary today. Acknowledgement email 6/27.
 
YAY! In state secondary! I loooove the fact that we basically just got our first interview.

Does anyone know what percentage of applicants receive the secondary here?

~50% of IS applicants get a secondary/interview
 
Grr.. now this when I hate the fact that my LOR's won't be in before mid september!! Can't schedule an interview till I'm complete!!!!

I'm not aware of the % getting secondary's but the percentage of OOS'ers interviewed last year was a little over 3 %.

you know I would push your school to get in your committee letter because UNC wants all LOR's in by the end of august...

No, it was the weirdest thing. I was logged into my own application and was clicking around randomly when I went to check back with my responses. Some other guy's picture was there, and my responses were gone. I haven't been able to recreate the error since, though I've only tried twice.
 
MSTP applicant no luck yet...still waiting to hear from them...notification received on 06/27

Any word back?

I am having trouble with UNC's applcation being super buggy as well. Some girls picture was where mine should be (I immedietly logged out and it is now fine), and the essays keep getting deleted....really frustrating
 
Is anybody else having trouble uploading their photo?
 
Hmmm, no secondary yet as an OOS applicant. Does this spell rejection? Or is there still hope?

submitted that secondary! cant wait for the dean to personally call me and beg me to come to UNC.
 
For those of us that haven't gotten the secondary but received the notification early (06/27), does this mean rejection? will we get an official notification if so?

In the end, UNC got 3.1 wins per major violation out of Butch Davis.

I really like UNC's uniforms this year. They look more Pro like. As in Probation.

Can't wait for the COI!!!

I wouldn't assume so; it's still reasonably early in the application cycle. They could just be waiting until they get more applicants before they send out more secondaries.

Has anyone been able to schedule an interview yet?
 
Well...I spoke too soon..OOS MSTP applicant..I got the secondary today...verified 06/14 notification received 06/27

I was a little confused too, but then they sent that email about it being down so maybe it'll be a more understandable this afternoon.

Same; I can see when the interviews are available, I'm just not sure how to pick a day.
 
It seems like the 2011 dates haven't been added yet. If you go to the 'agenda' view and type in a 2010 date, a list of open spots from October and February show up.

Ooh! Maybe inventing a time machine is one of the interview questions!
 
I didn't submit my primary to AMCAS until mid-july. With all the interview invites going out, I'm starting to get worried about being too late!

I'm IS and UNC is by far my first choice, I just needed the extra time for shadowing before I submitted my app.

Anyone know when the cutoff is for fashionably late vs. forget it late?

I don't know if there is such a thing as fashionably late with med school apps. That said, I don't think you are forget it late. Interviews go through February at least. Most people getting invites now submitted super-early, so don't get discouraged - if you are a competitive applicant, you will get a shot.

Don't worry about it...I was accepted in-state for this year's class by early December, having submitted AMCAS in mid-July, and secondary by late Sept. Timing of your AMCAS submission working against you definitely isn't something to worry about at this point.

the interview scheduling site is up and running. their whole application has been pretty glitchy..

is their an advantage to staying with a student? i know that at some schools your host actually reviews you too.
 
Just double checking, no OOS interviews yet right??

I realize there is only a 3% chance of snagging a golden ticket, saw they started giving out IS interviews, was curious about OOS?
 
should we get a "complete" email, or if not where do we check our status on their page? i got the payment confirm but logging back in the next day i didn't see a status page link or whatever.

It may be different for IS vs OOS since IS automatically gets an interview post-secondary, but I never got a complete notification (that may have to do with the fact that my letter writers are taking their sweet time) before my interview invite. I haven't found a way to check my status short of just calling them.

I think there is still hope! If you haven't gotten rejected yet, you are still a potential secondary recipient so just be patient. 🙂
