Any recently accepted students, can u see it on your CYMS tool? How long did it take?

Ok cool, getting in here has been a dream and I have felt like multiple times I got in on accident lol
No you've definitely gotten in because of all of your hard work, and because they know you'll be a great physician!

Also the admin feels very . . . disorganized at times. So this is likely an office thing.

I would’ve been happy with an additional “continued review” email. Anything is better than this dead silence. I feel your pain y’all…

Wait in a little brighter light, I think it’s good that waitlists and rejections haven’t been all sent out yet. I think this is a sign that adcoms are still reviewing our apps and we still have one more shot to go. It’s super tough and painful but let’s not lose hope yet guys 😭😭😭 And based on unc app frequently asked questions page, they say we will know by first week of April for sure. So this week is THE week guys. I don’t think they will go any longer than this.

just tried calling a few minutes ago and went to VM- if anyone else wants to try that’d be good too

not quite sure what’s happening are they differentiating between rejection and WL right now?

My hope tells me that they are making a final list of acceptances to send out, and the WL/R's will come a day or two after. I think I saw somewhere that they have like 200 waitlist spots (and accept ~60 off of it), so they're probably just really narrowing things down. But I'm also an idiot and don't know anything.

Do they tell you your place in line on the waitlist?

No. It's based on whatever scoring system they have, and they will not give you an idea of where you are ranked. Highest would be offered a seat first.
I think that some schools who use an unranked waitlist actually look for a candidate who is similar in some way to the applicant who turned down their A. For example, a veteran turns down an A and they look for a veteran on the waitlist. An OOS turns down the A, they look for an OOS. Etc. but correct me if I’m wrong

Unfortunately that not how UNC's works at all. Everyone gets raw scores and whoever is at the top gets a seat. No showing contoinued interest or showing up to office hours will move your rank, neither will an "X factor." It's all based on your application score and how your interview went, no demographic edge can help you ESPECIALLY after their DEI lawsuit. Only differentiation is IS vs OOS. Its really not worth stressing about because nothing is in anyones control at this point and no one has a competitive edge. All you can do is trust in what you already put forth.

Tbh that’s what I needed rn. There’s nothing we can do but trust in what we already put forth. Super stressful but imma just hope for the best while expecting the worst lmao

I will say when I went to the admissions office hours about a month ago a member of the admissions team told me that the waitlist is a truly random waitlist and that this year the list will be longer than normal due to “an increase in the amount of qualified applicants”. Not sure how to make of that but ultimately it is out of our hands, best of luck to everyone and hope we hear soon!

do you guys still have faith that we will hear this week?

if they dont send an update this week i am seriously considering withdrawing cause this is ridiculous

LOL. They changed their notification timeline on their FAQ page again:
OG - "Typically, we will be done with all final decisions, including wait list invitations by the end of March, and no later than the first week in April."
New - "All final decision notifications, including acceptance, wait list, and unsuccessful application, will be sent to applicants by early April."
