Ha! I love that! Rate limiting step! But of course there are those that have already received information about outright rejection/interview/acceptance, so any idea how many applications they have left to go through? I would think they have made a decision on a large amount of applicants by now. Although I am a little anxious to hear some news, I'm just asking these questions because I am more curious about their application review process. We hear and see things going on from our viewpoint, but they have their own process. Any feedback/answers to those questions would be appreciated. Thanks for the input of a 4th year medical student.

I honestly don't know. There are fourth years on the admissions committee, but they don't see applications until they have been invited to interview. I don't know how many people there are who review the applications and decide who gets an interview. I do know there are something like ~8 interview days left, and they *generally* aren't scheduled more than four weeks out.

Maybe they see something they like in your application and are waiting for you to finish term 2 of your Masters. Look at it this way there is still hope.

Batman,

That'd be nice.. But if they were waiting for semester 2 grades, I'd have to interview in May or June

Any acceptances out there from the Feb. interviews, particularly SELECT? I love this program, but the wait is killing me. haha.

Hello everyone!
I recently received a letter from USF informing me that I've been wait-listed. Does anyone know how they go about ranking you on the wait list? My experience at this school has been the best so far and it's definitely my first choice, so any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

For SELECT or CORE? And when did you interview? This school is my top choice as well.

Once you are on the wait list, your position is set. They don't disclose what number you are exactly, so it's mostly a waiting game until after May 15th. Most of the movement happens in June though.

I interviewed Feb 6th for select and was accepted last Friday! Anyone else?

What are your stats, if may ask? I have a decent stats (4.0 GPA, 32R MCAT, excellent LORS, and good ECs), but I didn't get the invite until just recently. So, don't fret! 😉
3.7 Undergrad, 25Q MCAT (I know, I know...terrible. I took the test waaaay too late), but 4 years as a military medic, great LORs, current research experience, and good ECs.
Still waiting. Not looking good though considering poor MCAT. Just cant figure out why its taking so long to get a decision. I've been studying to take the test again in April, so I'm clearly not holding my breath on this one.

The office is slow this year. Unfortunate (and ulcer producing) but just the way it is.

Interview is on Tuesday! Anyone going to the dinner social at Jason's deli?

Good Luck! I interviewed in December and going to Jasons deli is a great thing! It is one of the many unique things about USF and that set it apart from other medical schools.

CORE. I interviewed 2/14. I'm out-of-state. I was just wondering if my being out-of-state has anything to do with my rank on the wait list.

Hi everyone! I was recently invited for an interview at USF for the end of March. I've already been accepted to other FL schools but USF was one of my top choices. Does anyone know if the USF class has already been filled? I know it's late in the interview process, and I wasn't sure if they are not just interviewing people to put on the waitlist. Thank you so much!

We never interview for the wait list.

thanks! that's great news 🙂 I'm really excited to come up for the interview

I finished the secondary pretty late but I am in the pool for an interview. I still haven't received an invitation yet so I was just wondering whether I should just expect a rejection letter or they still are emailing for an interview?
Thanks

I'm fairly sure they will be inviting through March, interviewing through April. Spots are definitely running out though. :luck:

Rejected via e-mail this morning. Huh.
Vandy, Where you surprised.?
I thought the rejection letter was rather strange. The first part very encouraging more like an invite to interview then a rejection.

Do you guys mind sharing the completion of your primary and secondary? I didn't get the e-mail but then again I submitted both pretty late. Thanks!

My son submitted his secondary in late December............but I think Vandy Premed had his in months ago.

Hmmmm I wonder how big the pool is of people with fates yet to be decided?.. and how many more interview spots are available?

I submitted early october. Haven't heard anything one way or the other.

also received rejection email yesterday. was complete in October. good luck to everyone else still waiting

Submitted in September, no word yet. Hoping those of us still waiting get good news soon.

How do you know this fact? Can you call and ask them this?

No, not surprised. It was a "huh" rather than a "huh?" 😉.

I submitted all FL schools by early September, some as early as July (doesn't seem to have helped much, but oh well). I distinctly remember writing the USF essays my first week of school at Vanderbilt, which would have been last week of August.

Same and I was complete early November. Here's hoping for some good news :luck::luck:

I completed seconday in early December. And primary in late-ish November. I was interviewed 3/6/12 . . . And now the wait . . . :scared:

I have an interview coming up and was wondering if those who already interviewed could tell me if it's an open or closed interview? I tried searching online and got conflicting anwers. I called to make an appointment for the interview and ask if it was open or closed, but got the answering machine so I haven't gotten a direct response yet. Any help would be great...thanks!

Open file interview. The interviewer has access to all of the information you submitted, including the primary and secondary.

Thanks for the reply. Although it was open file, were "closed-file" type questions asked (i.e. ethics questions, why medicine, tell me about yourself, etc.)? Or were all questions pulled from primary and secondary? I'm trying to prepare as best as I can for the interview but the interview feedback for USF here on the SDN page hasn't been updated since last year with questions/types of questions asked.

Any advice or tips? Thanks!

The questions asked are entirely dependent on the interviewer.

My interviewers were entirely familiar with everything (LORs, essays, experiences, grades, and MCAT) in my application. I've had open, closed, and partially closed interviews. I definitely prefer the open!

Try to relax because they are not looking to make you feel uncomfortable or grill you.

Good luck!

SELECT interview invite today in Tampa. No news about Core.

Are the SELECT interviews in Tampa the same type of nondisclosure interviews as in PA or are they typical medical school interviews? Thanks!

Same non disclosure

well, finally received my rejection letter. Although, I am not as sad as I would have been if I had no other acceptances, but I am completely surprised at not even having the opportunity to interview. Lesson learned, I should have done my undergrad at a less expensive institution and only transferred when I needed to instead of showing ADCOMS I could do better than all these students 8yrs younger than me. I had thought about calling to find out "where I could improve," but why? I am certainly not going to give up a spot at another school to attend USF next year when I was not good enough for them the first time around. Good luck to those who were accepted. I had a great time in undergrad here and Moffit is an awesome hospital. Wish you all the best.

Although I didn't graduate from USF I have a connection through my previous company that supplies all of the fresh human specimens that the med school orders. Our company is known throughout the school, and they know that I was a former technician preparing those specimens! I guess that holds no weight.... I was also rejected from my Alma Mater (Tulane) with no interview at all. I was the graduating class from Katrina and was VERY interested in returning to NO and made that apparent in my personal statement. Ugh 😡

Does anyone know the average response time with the final decision after the interview? The wait is killing me :/

Woohoo! Accepted! Got the call this morning!
