accepted!! fieowa;fdksa no way!? i thought my interview went HORRIBLY!

Just got the status update email.
ACCEPTED!!!

I met another applicant on my interview day (November 7th).

She was a theater major from California who also was into board games and was applying to grad school this year as well.

I'm speaking to that person now. If you're on here, send me a PM and lets chat about what grad school was like (especially if you also heard back from VCU today).
Later

congrats guys! when did you guys interview? I interviewed first week of november and haven't heard anything yet

Congrats HulaHippos, I am so happy for you 🙂

Congrats to everyone else as well. Feel free to pm me if VCU is your top choice or if you are seriously considering going there. We can talk about the school, second look, starting an fb page, etc. 🙂

ACCEPTED!!!

Interviewed 2 weeks ago (12/1) for anyone wondering.

Congrats to all of my (possible) future classmates!

Accepted. (Interviewed 12/5)

Congrats to all others who have been accepted to VCU. Hope to see you all in person in August 2012 🙂!

I'm so overwhelmed. In my 37 years, I had never cried when happy. This is the first. Yes, VCU is my top choice, and I feel so humble and honored to be accepted at this great school and in your company.

It seems this year, you would need to get a Hold status before getting the Accepted status. This morning, I just got a Hold status email and thought in one day, I couldn't get 2 status change emails. I was replying to a friend's email and before I closed my mail, I saw a VCU email in....I am very grateful.

Everyone, please remember to udpate the spreadsheet. In July, I'll take a look and analyze the data and share with you my thoughts on the chance to get interview from the May or Further status.

ACCEPTED!!!!!!😍 Congrats to all my possible future classmates and best of luck to those still waiting!! Next move: Christmas card to my student hosts with the happy news!

That spreadsheet is pretty much the coolest thing I've seen on any forum on this site. Thanks. Added myself, obviously. Now I'm really confused as to which status is better: FURTHER or MAY. Anyone have any thoughts given the data?

Edit: Oh, and just so you guys know, if you wrote something like "Late september" or "early July", I assigned you an exact date just for fun so I could sort the data by status received date, which means you can now see, chronologically, who got statuses and interviews and at which time. Just thought the creator might want to know.

errrr, might have sorted the FURTHER chart as well . . .

Please update your new status on the spreadsheet at:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...hl=en_US#gid=0

The reason this spreadsheet was created was to find out which status is better, further or may, so no one really knows 😉. Note that the other two statuses are not present (very interested and reservations) because there isn't much debate about your chances to receive an interview following these statuses.

Congratulations to everyone that got accepted!

Oh, I know that no one really knows, but since we now have some more data, I was wondering if anyone wanted to, I don't know, count?

Amity mentioned a few posts up that he/she will analyze the data at the end of the cycle.

Withdrew my app. Hope someone great gets my II. It's a great school!! GOOD LUCK all :luck:

Did anyone NOT hear any news on 12/15 after they already interviewed? Weird... I interviewed 10/20. I didn't receive any e-mail... I will try calling the admissions office.

it means you're still on hold. i think someone mentioned that they admit people of a certain priority score range at each admission date, with the highest ones first and then they move down the list. so you might still get in, but your scores might not have been high enough for the december admittance.

(someone correct me if i'm wrong haha)

I also interviewed 10/20, but did not hear back on 12/15. It just means we aren't accepted as of 12/15, and will be reconsidered for 2/1.

to save our spot, we only have to complete the matric form + pay the deposit right? do we have to do all the other stuff or is that only when it's may and we decide for sure we're going to vcu?

That's correct - you only need the matriculation form and deposit for now.

Anyone know if there is a FB group for 2016 people ? 🙂 And congrats to everyone who is coming to VCU!

Anyone from the 11/16 interview date who got in?

Yup yup, I was the one who was unable to safely operate my umbrella

Anyone else picking between VCU and EVMS? What are you leaning toward? I'm almost def. going to end up at VCU. The one school I have an interview at that I'm also seriously considering is GW, although they are wackily expensive....😱

Ah, I remember you! Congratulations!

Also, totally VCU>EVMS.

epsilon! 🙂 i liked vcu a lot more than i liked evms. evms's main selling point to me was that it was a very small, nice, community-oriented school. but i get that feeling from vcu too + vcu has a little bit of the city life going for it, and strong programs and stuff

i feel like if u weren't accepted in the date after your interview you won't be considered again until the last deadline ....anyone else agree or know from past experience?

logically it doesnt make sense for them to pick from prior non-accepts if they have a batch of new people to pick from

that's not true. as i said previously, they do it in waves based on your scores. this is what several people have said here (current med students, applicants who've heard from the dean of admissions). also if you look at last year's thread, there were plenty of people who, for example, didn't get in in october but got it in december. so it's possible that if you didn't get it in december, you could still get it in feb, etc.

I agreed that the spreadsheet was a very cool idea to collect data for May and Further status. Let's all thanks the person who created it (not me)!

For those who're still on Hold status, I know the wait is crushing, but on the other hand, you're still in consideration 🙂. Please don't lose hope. We're in just December while school starts in August.

Dean Whitehurst-Cook said that last year, one person from California got called on Monday and arrived the next day to join other students. That means he joined the class on Tues. when others had already been there on Monday. The Dean said Orientation would start on the 2nd week of August but all matriculants would be on campus starting on the first week of August. So, please don't lose hope, even when school already starts (but Orientation hasn't begun).

Sooooooooooo a preliminary analysis is out of the question?🙄

I counted (but not very carefully xD): 26 interview invites/53 people reporting May statuses, and 9 interview invites out of 47 people reporting further statuses.

Thanks for counting! 🙂 Apparently, this was too much to do for some other people (person)

Me too, although I can't put my finger on why... I guess I'm more of a city person, and I think Richmond/VCU reminded me a little of the DC/Baltimore area, which is where I did undergrad. Plus, we don't have to move, my husband can keep his job, my son can stay at his school etc etc etc... need I go on? LOL

Although I DO really like GW. My interview there is coming up, so we'll see... that's a heck of a pricetag though😱

 I'll gladly organize a spreadsheet, but manual counting? Come on, now. That's hard.

Also, my mom says I'm awesome and that you're all just jealous.

Lol, I am sure she does, and yes we are all jealous of you for having the skills to create something so amazing 😀 😛

Does anyone know the average stats of the people who were accepted in December?

Does anyone know the average stats of the people who were accepted in December?

No.... Being as we don't know who all of them were. That said, mine were 3.8+/32Q with some several years full-time clinical experience (5000+ hours), a lot of years of volunteering across multiple organizations and fields of interest (at least 1000 hours; have never really done a thorough count), lots of leadership (including building a pre-health professions university program with a current staff of 15 and some 200 students involved, as well as several management positions), multiple research projects (psych, music, and medical/clinical disciplines), several 1st author presentations, a variety of hobbies (martial artist, avid climber, etc.), a little bit of shadowing (my one checkbox activity... everything else just sort of happened)....
