Good luck guys! I just withdrew my acceptance today. Einstein is absolutely amazing, but after a lot of thought, I decided it wasn't right for me. I hope my spot goes to one of you!

Interviewed here on Friday and I LOVED it. Not only is the staff, faculty, and campus amazing, but it's 30 min from my home!

Can anyone comment on the global health opportunities at Einstein? I know it has a fairly large global health center but is Einstein generous with funding your trip if you decide to go abroad over the summer or during your rotations?

I got an interview invite today.... completely shocked since this was one of my top choices but it's so late in the game!

wear a plaid red sports jacket

If you want to give out the secrets to success, please do this privately. Pretty soon everyone will be wearing plaid red sports jackets and this won't guarantee acceptances anymore.

I believe you can apply to receive $2500 for most summer opportunities... pretty awesome 🙂 ... that's from AECOM... if you're getting compensated already from whtever you're doing... then you don't get this

What I took from my interview?
Einstein is generous with everything.
They do everything short of throwing money at you.

Hello all. Does anyone have recommendations for transportation from LaGuardia to Einstein? The website suggests yellow cab or the Allways shuttle, both of which run about $50. Are there other options? Thanks!

Bring at least $7.75 in change to take the bus ($15.50 for round trip - all must be in change, buses do not take dollar bills).
1) Follow the signs at La Guardia to Public Transportation and wait for the M60 bus into Manhattan.
2) Use $2.25 in change to take the M60 and ask the driver to let you know when to get off at Third Avenue.
3) When you get off the bus, you should be at the corner of E125th Street and Third Avenue. Walk south for five blocks to the corner of E120th Street and Third Avenue, to take the BxM10 bus towards "Williamsbridge-Boston Rd" and pay the rest of your change ($5.50). Ask the driver to let you know when to get off for Albert Einstein Med Ctr.

You'll be dropped off right in front of the Belfer building, admissions is on the 2nd floor.

Tip: If you don't want to deal with so many quarters, bring only $2.25 in change. When you get off the M60, walk one block west to Lexington Avenue and go down the steps into the subway station. There will be metrocard vending machines by the turnstiles. Buy a $13.25 metrocard and this will be sufficient for the rest of your trip. After you've done so, walk back to Third Ave and south to E120th to catch the BxM10. The schedules can be found here:

M60 http://www.mta.info/nyct/bus/schedule/manh/m060cur.pdf
BxM10 http://www.mta.info/busco/schedules/bxm10cur.pdf

Alternatively, I believe the admissions office can provide a metrocard for the return trip, so you don't have to deal with an additional $7.75 in quarters to get back. I would call and ask.

Feel free to PM me if any of this confuses you. Good luck!

You can forgo the express bus by simply taking the 6 train at 125th street from the M60. Take it to Pelham Parkway and walk a 10 minute walk to the school. I used to walk to the school all the time from Fordham University on Fordham Road.

This is an option too, but I have to disagree. The closest stop on the 6 train is Middletown Rd. Pelham Bay would take you too far North. Not only that, but even getting off at Middletown Rd would then require a 20 minute walk and I'm sure people will be carrying luggage and such. The express bus drops you right in front of the school.

You can take a different route to avoid the extra cost of the express bus, but that requires more directions. That would be M60, 5 train to 180thst, then take the Bx21, which drops you at the same stop as the BxM10. (so an extra step there, you save $2.25 for doing this).

IMO, BxM10 is the best way to go.

For Anyone interviewing after Sunday March 3rd:

The rate for a single MTA fare is going up from $2.25 to $2.50!! Just in case you bring exact change. Express buss service (BxM10) will now cost $6, up from $5.50 as well.

Also the best way to get Einstein from Manhattan are the BxM10 bus OR The 5 or 2 train to E 180th Street then the Bx21 bus to Eastchester Rd. Both will drop you off in front of the medical school. This is how we tell research subjects to get here.

Financial Aid forms are suchhhhh a pain. Anyone else having trouble filling out the Fin Aid Questionnaire? I think we're supposed to fill it out online but it shows up as a PDF doc?

Withdrew my seat in next years class. Hope one of you guys get the spot. Good Luck!

I've heard a lot of great things about them paying for global opportunities and even a fifth year. But, does anyone know how much clinical experience (actually doing histories/physicals with supervision) you get in the first two years? I know a lot of schools are also trying to make the clinical years more longitudinal. Does anyone know of any changes to the Einstein curriculum in the last 5-10 years that reflects a more interactive learning style or toward building longer relationships with preceptors or patients you encounter?

trying to make a hard choice between two schools...

You'll be doing histories and oral presentations to your preceptor by October of first year, and chest/abdomen physical exam later in first year, with the full physical exam second year. You see patients once a week, and you work with one preceptor for all of first year, and then one preceptor again for second year. Einstein made a change with the class of 2016 and I think everyone gets a longitudinal research experience mentor for 4 all years (Einstein requires a "scholarly project" of some sort, which is great for residency applications).

Does anyone know if Einstein accepts letters of intent post-interview? I think I'd really like to go here above all other schools I've interviewed at and I'm trying to see how I can up my chances.

When I was applying they were very receptive to any/all communication from applicants (updates, interest, intent, etc.). In fact, if I remember correctly, in one of the links they send you they even explicitly encourage it. That was a couple years ago...I really doubt anything has changed, but you could always call admissions to verify (they'll also be able to tell you who to mail/email it to). In other words, go for it!

Definitely go for it. Later on they usually ask some waitlisted people if einstein is their top choice. If it really is, I would definitely send them a letter to that effect.

Good luck!

Withdrew from my interview today. Hopefully one of you gets it.

Im an MSII at Einstein. Einstein will give you $2500 to do anything medically related during your first summer. Could be research stuff, clinical stuff or just medical Spanish. Einstein is huge on global health. People go to programs in South America and a bunch of people go to Africa

do they interview until april 1st or do they interview during april too?

Try sending an update email and a letter of interest
I did and I got an II like two weeks later

awesome. cant wait!!!. thanks for the info.

question for a current student:

I really liked Einstein when I visited. One of the things I noticed was the party atmosphere among the students at Einstein. there is definately nothing wrong with that. However, I am the kind of person that enjoys the parties occasionally, but often likes to hang out in smaller groups and in less crowded settings. I also don't drink because of cultural/religious reasons. Do you think I can find a niche at Einstein?

Does anyone have an idea of when they're going to release the next round of post-interview decisions?

A third year here, you'll definitely find a niche. There are a bunch of people here who part take in the party scene full time (rarely), part time (most people) or rarely (me). (Almost) everyone is amazingly nice here and whether or not you love to get sloppy at Gleasons (local dive bar) every week, you will definitely find that there is almost always someone hosting a small get together/dinner/trip to manhattan/ whatever. There are a good portion of people here who don't drink so don't feel like that singles you out in anyway. The social scene here at Einstein is great and I can say that everyone here appreciates the close knit community feel no matter what your interests/idea of a good time is.

Sent in a letter of update today. Do you think they'll look at it in time to give out an invite, if they're still inviting for interviews?
