Yeah I hope so, I think me and my interviewer really hit it off well. We talked about a lot of different things, and the nurses kept calling her out and so she even took me with her to see one of her patients.

Wow - that sounds awesome. What dep't was the patient in?

I completed on Aug 9th
I receieved an interview invitation on Sept 27th
but the interview date options STARTED on Jan 28th of 2013.. why sooo late?! I see other people have experienced this.

This is the only school that has nearly a 4 month gap. Seems very excessive.. but im sure they have their reasons.

I just got another interview in NYC and I am pretty sure the date for that will be much before January 2013. I would like to interview at these two schools together.. do you think albert einstein would be receptive to interviewing me a few months in advance? Just seems like a lot to ask.

That's been going on for the past few weeks at least. I think they hit their interview quota for the January acceptance date a while back.

They emailed me first, then they called me saying they'll try to reschedule someone else since I'm coming from far away.

Yeah they rescheduled me at least three times, but it was just different times on the same day. Hope it works out for you!

Yea they told me to choose from february dates...invited last week

Yeah, I would just hate to throw down another 200-300$ for a plane ticket to NYC to interview here if I will be in the area in Nov or Dec. Considering my date is so late, I figure they must be reaaally booked already though, so I don't know how receptive they would be to interviewing me so far in advance of my original interview date. I'm scared to even ask them!

exactly my thoughts. and interviewing so late probably means that i am competing for the wait list.

I'm sure a lot of people must be in the same predicament..

Jan 28th is literally over 4 months away from the date they send me the invitation. However, you have to figure that most students that applied to Albert Einstein also applied to other NYC medical schools. It isn't that crazy for students to receive additional interviews in NYC during such a large span of time.

Has anyone had any luck rescheduling an interview with them months in advance? My other NYC school invited me to interview starting mid November.. would be a good 2 1/2 months in advance of Albert Einstein's Jan 28th date.

II here today! Complete 9/4.

Kind of surprised because my stats are below average for this school; 3.5 science gpa with a 32 MCAT but I'll take it 🙂

Submitted my secondary exactly a week after you. There's still hope! 🙂

When is your interview? I'm scared they're running out of spots

Hey, can you guys expand on this please? Does that mean those who receive interviews toward the end of January and later are going to be interviewing for waitlists?

I interviewed here a while ago so I might have some of the details wrong, but from what I remember they do non-rolling admissions until January so they fill up x amount of interviews and accept y amount of people. Whatever spots they have left, z, will be filled up via post January interviews in the typical rolling style. Unfortunately, I don't know any of the numbers 🙁 Sorry!

Ah, didn't know that which is a little disheartening but it's still an interview!

My interviews going to be scheduled in February and I'm an in state applicant.

MSTP interview invite today! Scheduled for December. Their program looks amazing and I'm super excited 😀

is December the last MSTP interview date or are there others? I was completed in the beginning of August.. :/
I don't know what other dates are available. They did not give me a choice, just told me my interview date. I was complete on 9/16, but from reading SDN way too much, I don't know if that is any indicator of when you'll hear back. Good luck!

actually, Einstein interviews until end of April/early May, and even then you are interviewing for a spot in the class. 🙂 it's likely the odds aren't necessarily as high since a majority of the acceptance spots have already been given out, but it's not like some other schools where the spring interviews are waitlist-only. don't give up hope!

does anyone know how einstein views re-applicants, got an interview last year around this time but no word yet this year and submitted apps much much earlier, complete 7/20....starting to lose hope :/

Complete here since August 9th, heard nothing since..

I'm in the same boat as you. I was rejected from Einstein in January, and re-submitted my application VERY early this year (I think it was still June haha). Haven't heard a peep from them since.

Einstein seemed like a really great place, so I hope they will give us consideration! 🙂

II today 10/18, asked to schedule anytime afte February 25.
Does anyone know if this puts anyone who has to interview post-January a disadvantage?

FWIW, I met several students during my interview last year who interviewed in February of the previous cycle and were accepted without being waitlisted.

May I ask when you were complete?

does einstein tend to do silent rejections? complete first week of aug...

The interview was extremely friendly and laid-back. Everyone says so, but I felt especially lucky with my interviewer, who was all smiles and kind words. It really made it easy to say everything I wanted to say. I don't think this is conventional, but at the end he told me he would be writing very positive reviews, and that he has a strong feeling that I would be accepted. I've never heard of that being said before during an interview, but I'll take it! Enjoy the day, and make sure you join the group when they check out the student housing - it's pretty sweet for the amazing prices!

That's great! Hope you get accepted!

In general, the interviews at Einstein are pretty relaxed. The school is super friendly and they don't want to stress anyone out too much 🙂

As for housing - I agree! It's a huge plus for Einstein - super convenient and cheap housing! Right across from the school, and best of all you get to live in a building with only students and no random people etc. It's definitely something people should think about when they come to see Einstein.

Insane! I hope I get the same interviewer as you!

Yeah complete mid July. Wondering if I should send a letter begging them to invite me.

Anyone completed around mid/late Sept getting II's?

I was complete with most schools mid-end of September and I haven't heard anything back yet, however my friend who was complete early October got an II from Hofstra.

I emailed some of my schools (Yale, Dartmouth, NW, UPenn) and have been told my file is still under review...

Hold on to your hope! I was complete in late august and received an II today. interview scheduled for feb 15.

I submitted a month ago and have yet to receive a "complete" email. I've called twice to see what the hold up was and was told that the system hasn't updated my file (there was nothing else for me to do on my end, since my letters had already been assigned on AMCAS). I don't understand why the system is taking forever to update my file, but something about "a lot of holidays" etc was the reason I got.

Now I'm seeing that the earliest interview dates are in Feb 2013, which I've heard is vaguely disadvantageous. Sigh. Did anyone else experience this?

Hey bud, don't count yourself out just yet! Like I said a few posts above, during my interview at Einstein last year, I met several students who interviewed in February but were still accepted (without being waitlisted). They went out of their ways to ensure us that interviewing late, we are not at a disadvantage.

You have to look at the "direction" of causality when considering spring interviews. Did the school wait until the spring to interview you because you were a less desirable applicant? Or, was there some sort of delay in the process that made it difficult for you to interview early, but you are still a desirable candidate? These are important questions.

In the first case (the school didn't interview you until spring because they considered you less desirable), then yes, you are likely at a disadvantage. However, consider the second case (you are only interviewing in the spring because there was an unintentional delay; either on your end or the admissions office's). It would not benefit the school to give unequal consideration to later applicants simply because they are interviewing later in the cycle. Schools could miss out on some top-notch applicants this way!

Don't despair until the process is over...there are a lot of crazy, unpredictable things that happen in medical school admissions, so your best bet is to relax and enjoy the ride. 🙂 Good luck! :luck:

I haven't heard of this before, but I just wanted to chime in that October is a very holiday heavy month in Judaism. I think the students there said they had an extra day off almost every week or something.

Stay positive! Obviously they saw something on your application that they liked! If they didn't think that you could potentially add value to their school then they wouldn't invite your for an interview! It's now your job to convince them that what they saw on paper translates to real life.

Good luck!
