Has anyone heard about acceptance/rejection/waitlist from Georgetown that interviewed around Sept 20th? (It's the 10th week! And I'm DYING to hear something...!)

I can't imagine they would take more than the 10 weeks if they said "8-10" ???

two people said they interviewed late september and were rejected (see posts from Oct 15th) but those were the only two posters. I don't know where the rest of the late september interviewers are, and why they haven't posted, but I thought first half of October is supposed to hear at the end of this week. If you haven't heard by the end of the week, I would send an email; it's weird that some late september have heard and some not.

thank you! keep me posted if you hear.... i wonder if it's good or bad that i haven't heard...

I also interviewed around that time and haven't heard anything... Really weird.

I interviewed the last week of september and was CAPed last week.
is CAPed the same as "wait listed?" what date did you interview exactly if you don't mind me asking. I am DYING to hear from them! I mean tomorrow it will have been exactly 10 weeks.

Yes. It's called the competitive applicant pool.

On a different note, how much walking is there on interview day?

not a whole lot. 5 minutes here, 5 minutes there, but I suppose each tour could be slightly different.

Agreed. The tour our group was taken on had less walking than most other medical school interviews I've been to.

hear anything yet? i think they are trying to kill me. what date did you interview exactly? sept 20 also?

would they take longer than 10 weeks if they said 8-10? (frustrated.)

Interviewing here soon!
Question: Georgetown doesn't have an MD/MPH program. Are there alternatives for students here that are interested in receiving their MPH, or is there just no way to do so? Thanks!

Yeah at my interview they told us the admin people would work with you if you're really interested in an MPH in addition to the MD. You can request a year "break" after finishing year 2 of the MD program, do a 1-year MPH at another school during that time, and then resume the MD curriculum after you earn the MPH. Obviously you still need to apply and be accepted into to a MPH program at another school for this to happen, probably during your second year of med school. They explicitly said many students have done this and earned an MPH from GW and Hopkins, but I'm sure you could do it at whatever program is best for you as long as you can earn it in a 1 year span.

Any interview invites here recently? Also is it by email, phone, and/or status update? Thanks 🙂

Interview invites are by email.

nBeeDee, I think you have the best interview/school descriptions I've seen thus far on MDApps. Very helpful! 👍

Haha thanks. Stuff like that has been really helpful to me throughout this process so I thought I would continue the trend for anyone that wants to read my biased rants . Plus it will help me remember what I liked and didn't like about schools when I ultimately have to decide on a school.

No problem. I'm sure they could give you more details too if you ask at your interview.

Has anyone who interviewed in the first week of October heard back yet?

Interviewed 10/10, heard back this morning: Competitive applicant pool.

Going to wait a few days to collect my thoughts before I send a letter. Anyone know roughly what % of people get in from the CAP? I just mean... is it a long-ish shot, like 25%, or is it one of those "If you stay on the list til May you'll probably get in."

Just wondering because I still haven't got a full acceptance and I'm losing my damn mind, staring at a revolver and a bottle of gin in my desk drawer all day at work, etc etc.

Edit: Just checked and found out that the "competitive applicant pool" is their single, unranked waitlist, not a priority waitlist.

Sorry to hear it..Hopefully you'll get some good news from them in the Spring :xf:

Interviewed 10/4. Nothing.

Interviewed 10/2. +1

Just got an email to check my status. Rejected. Good luck to those still in the running.

Just heard back today as well. I was put on the CAP and interviewed about almost 2 months ago. Sorry about those rejections guys, I guess I should be happy about this waitlist. Now i'm brainstorming for that necessary LOI.

CAP'ed... Couldn't you have given me the acceptance? Well, i guess this means a few months more of hopeful worry.

Just being a drama queen. Despite what they say on the website, I have it on reasonably good authority that they begin accepting people from the CAP fairly early next year. Though the image of me spinning a loaded revolver in my mouth while staring listlessly out my office window is kind of funny.

Now i'm brainstorming for that necessary LOI.

I have a lot of good things to say about the school... probably my #2 choice at the moment. I figure saying "Georgetown was one of my two favorite schools that I interviewed at" it pretty solid. On the other hand, is saying "OMG GIVE ME ACCEPTANCE I PROMISE I'LL TOTALLY TAKE IT," (in more eloquent words of course) too desperate? I feel like it is, especially this early in the cycle. Stuck between a rock and a larger more angry rock.

The cool thing is they basically BEGGED us not to come to Georgetown on interview day, so I feel like a larger number of people withdrew post-interview/post-decision than at the average school this early in the cycle. Which is fine by me! Georgetown sucks, is too expensive, and is a religious plutocracy! Get off my wait-list. Or am I being optimistic?

20 accepted, 40 CAP, 20 rejected

I think s/he was confused because she was thinking in percentages (if you are too, that doesnt add up to 100). Which makes sense because 20-40-20 are very random numbers if you're talking in absolutes. why not 1-2-1? or 10-20-10?

I think they release decisions for 80 apps at a time (if i'm not mistaking), hence these numbers

Did anyone get accepted today? It seems that they only sent out waitlists and rejections...

well i was just wondering because no one posted anything about an acceptance today...maybe acceptances are coming out on friday. just a guess.
I haven't heard anything yet but I was told I'd hear back the second week in December not the first

Interviewed October 18. Got capped. The interesting thing though, I felt that the interview went really really well. So this definitely came as a surprise.

I felt my interview here went really really well also and I got flat out rejected lol makes me really nervous to hear from other schools

Right? Haha but I think that due to their high applicant pool they have to waitlist/reject good candidates. It was also weird because the interviewer and I clicked really well. And I thought I demonstrated that I believed in the cura personalis ideal well. Well, I am happy for all those accepted!!!

I got accepted yesterday! Just didn't have time to post! Best of luck to all those waiting to hear and waitlisted- they said writing a LOI really helps!

CAP'd this morning. My notes say something about two wait lists? Anyone have info on the waitlists and what to do next?

hey all, just wanted to encourage any body who was placed on the CAP list. I'm a current student at Gtown, and a very significant percentage of the class is made up of people from this list. Estimating i would say more than 1/3 but I don't know that for sure. You do really need to send a letter of intent in saying why you really want to come to Georgetown to get off the CAP list and get accepted at Georgetown. They really look at those letters, where I have at least gotten the impression that are only more or less important at many other places. best of luck!

ACCEPTED!!! 😀😀😀 Interviewed 10/24! The email has been sitting in my Inbox since this morning I was too scared to check it!!! 😀

+1... this is the first post-interview news i've heard so it really stung...and is making me very very nervous for the rest of the schools i'm waiting to hear from sigh. this process keeps getting harder to handle 🙁
