Does anyone know of some good apartments around the Nashville area(preferably close to Meharry)?

Yes, they will send a packet with several apt. complexes that Meharry students stay in. You could of course stay on campus at Royal Towers. Many students stay in Bellevue, its a little distance away but a nice area.

Thanks! I'll check those out

Just withdrew my acceptance from here--I hope it goes to someone who really needs it!

Good luck ya'll! :luck:

Anyone know how strict they are on senior year grades after being accepted? Do you just need to graduate or will they rescind if you get a low grade?

I looked around the catalogue and on Meharry's website and the only thing they stress is receiving a "C" or better in pre-medical coursework (so that it counts). They also say that one should have a 3.5-4.0GPA in that pre-medical coursework to be competitive. They do not really state anything else.

However, I will say a few general facts that I believe will be helpful. When a medical college gives you an acceptance, it is always conditional. If it wasn't, we could go out and party for the rest of our undergrad or stop working. Schools vary in how strict they are when it comes to final official transcripts. One low grade (also depends on the subject), probably will not be a problem. If you fail a course, that could very well be a problem, especially if it affects your graduation or completion of a major/minor. Always be ready to answer the question "why?." Schools are more interested when they see a trend - If you were a top ranking student through junior year and then suddenly got a 2.0 during your senior year, a school may fear that something is wrong - It could mean that person A is not dedicated or it could mean that person A has experienced a negative event that will compromise his/her ability to function well in school in the near future. Medical schools have small classes and any attrition speaks badly of the school, even if it is not directly their fault.

Meharry requires that someone has an undergraduate 4 year degree to matriculate. Meharry's average acceptance GPA last year was 3.37/4.0. If it is just one course and you didn't fail it, you should be alright. I am not on the committee so I cannot provide real comfort, but if they accepted you and your academic performance hasn't fluctuated too much, I really believe you will be fine.

How do you like that hotel? I thought it was very nice when I went for my interview!

The hotel is great. Thank you for your info. The adcom will meet this Wednesday. Hope we will hear from them soon.

Great - How did you think your interview went? Who was your interviewer?

I think it went well. My interviewer is a super nice person. I love Meharry and hope to be a part of this great family. I think we will start seeing a lot of waitlist movements soon.

What kind of questions were you asked?

Has anyone been in contact with the admissions office recently in any capacity?

Does Meharry give out merit scholarships or any sort of scholarships ? I called Ms.Davis earlier today to ask her about academic scholarships but she told me that admissions take care of that. I called admissions and they told me to call Ms.Davis lol

Yes, Meharry gives scholarship based on need and academic merit - they are limited from what I hear, but they do exist. I past poster stated that he/she was given a half-tuition scholarship. I do hope this helps. What would help more is knowing when we in the top 10% list are going to get in lol.

Just received email from the Admission. Top 10% waitlist. Love this school so much, Hope all of top 10% get in as it used to be.

Great News - This top 10% list keeps getting longer - I mean there are only like 6-7 people that I know of on it, but I wonder how large this thing is for real...!?!?

Just called my new friend who interviewed same date with me. He also got top 10%.

Does anyone know how this year's class match went? Just curious to see. Congrats to everyone that's gotten in, and good luck to everyone on the waitlist, hope to meet you all this fall!

Just received a phone call from another interviewee who interviewed same date as mine. He is also on top 10%. It looks like this pool is getting bigger. But don't worry, some of us will receive a good news soon.

Something else also occured to me - We have seen multiple people get top 10%, but it is possible that some of those people withdrew their application. Meharry wouldn't "overbook" the top 10% because it is just that...10% of the waitlist pool. What it likely means is that they still do not have enough people in the top 10%. We are getting down to the last few interview days now so they need to fill the top 10% spots so that they have people to accept when people withdraw. I will likely call Ms. Davis within the next few days in order to get clarification for us.

Finally received big accepted package with folder of information!!!

I got that today too. Do you know when they going to send out financial informations ? Like let's say we get selected for a scholarship when/how we find out?

That is a lot about nothing lol...I wish they would release the places each and every person matched.
If you PM me your email, I can send you the most recent match list that they have- the actual match list.

Where is our top 10% waitlist movement - what a stressful ordeal!

I was hoping that came in the package. On website there is no info on scholarship so I assume they select you on their terms. Most schools provide links for their scholarships, but MEharry has not.

I am not sure we will be hearing anything until after April 15th. I have been in communications with staff at Meharry, who stated they will be meeting in a few weeks to discuss waitlisted applicants. I imagine they may expect a group of openings around that time. Then rather than filling people in over the next few weeks, they may just wait until that magical date has occurred, meet, and fill whatever spots may have opened.

Oh ok - when did they say this? I wonder how this meeting will affect the top 10% people.

My interviewer emailed me Sunday about that, however I wondered the same thing as u., it could be a meeting assigning rankings to regular wait list

Yeah, it definitely involves that - I am hoping that our positions in this top 10% list are set in stone and the ranking does not reconsider us lol. That is awesome that your interviewer talks with you about that kind of thing - my interviewer loved me but has not answered a single email - A lot of people have mentioned on SDN that admissions often doesn't answer emails

Edit: But if you think about it - If they were simply going to reconsider the top 10% people...why have that list to begin with at all? There would be absolutely no point if they were just going to wait until April 15th to start considering waitlisted applicants.

I would think that the 10% is set for sure, however I would tend to think they will rank us for ex: 1-20,then regular waitlist 30-200. Hopefully their will be some out right acceptances given at that meeting for spots that have opened up 😀

T-minus 9 days and counting...where no Meharry waitlist applicant has gone before (In a deep movie commentator voice with serious music playing in the background)!

I am thinking of Morgan Freeman narrating.. All of us who are on the top 10% and those of you on the regular waitlist, lets do SDN and all future Meharrians a favor; lets accurately record our notifications for others to see that we do get in, and a timeframe of when we got in! I think most students in the past once they recieved notification, were either to excited to post, or simply forgot to.
Cheers to hearing soon and posting details! I am expecting to hear something by the end of April. Just a feeling of mine 🙂

Definitely a good idea - I also believe especially the top 10% people will be given offers within a couple of weeks!

How far is Vanderbilt from Meharry ? Does anyone know ?

Anyone have any idea of what exactly the meharry-Vanderbilt alliance is? What it entails?

This is like the BIG week leading up to the deadline...!:corny:😱
