I hope that means I'll be in the next batch. Complete 08/09/2012.

Congrats! When were you complete?

Also, did you get the invite today? Just trying to see if Stanford sends invites on the weekend.

I was complete 7/31. Yep, I got the invite Saturday morning.

rejection from UCSF on Friday at 5pm PT and II from Stanford on Sunday. My secondary was complete on 7/20, I thought I was silently rejected by Stanford...

One question, does Stanford have housing program for interviewees? Thanks.

Sweetbabyjeebus it's so good to hear this. I submitted my secondary on 8/5 and when I saw IIs rolling in for people who submitted around that same time, I thought I had been silently rejected.

Still. Hope.

And congrats to you all!! 🙂

Interview invite! complete last week of July

Also, I've heard that Stanford reviews secondaries in bunches, and that review is randomized and not dependent on submission/completion date within a bunch. Hence explaining why we're seeing both July and August people getting invites in random orders...

Not like I know for sure or anything, but thought I'd just pass along what I heard.

You are probably right. LizzyM may have said on another tread that schools can sort the information received from AMCAS any way they want. So they are probably sorting for whatever they are looking for and reading apps/sending invites according to their own sort which may or may not take date of completion into account.

How will the Stanford curriculum, and specifically the requirement for a scholarly concentration, help your personal career goals?

In regards to the above essay question, I've read a lot online about the curriculum and the scholarly concentrations, but I'm still pretty confused by it all. Can someone, maybe a current Stanford student, try to explain the scholarly concentration and what makes it unique from other schools? I'd really appreciate it.

It's a like a major in medical school, or maybe more like a minor as your MD is your major. You take a couple extra classes and seminars in your SC in addition to the core/regular curriculum.

In practice it helps pair you up with mentors for research, meet up with similar interest students, and get some breadth and depth in a research area or research modality.

hmm. lets hope so! I've been complete since mid-July =/ please please no silent rejection!

Has anyone received an II in the last few days? It looks like there hasn't been much II activity here in the last few days...

Does anyone know when the interview dates are? Specifically MSTP interview dates?

thanks

Would you think it's reasonable to assume you've been put on hold if they haven't responded to a completed application for a month?

No. They get thousands of apps - probably just haven't gotten to you yet.

I was verified 9/6.. Not yet received secondary.. Anyone else in the same boat?

I hope that's true. I was complete 7/12 and have heard nothing :/

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat =\ App complete on 7/16 and haven't heard anything. My friend last year completed 7/13 and didn't receive an interview until late September!

They sure take their sweet time...

Is there a point to submitting to Stanford right now? My stats are mediocre 32 3.8 but I have some interesting and unique EC's - but it is rather late at this point.

I was wondering if Stanford is receptive to in the area emails. I'll be flying out from NYC for an interview and would love to not make 2 trips!

Definitely apply, it's not too late at all. They do comprehensive reviews throughout the whole cycle, and they're pretty frugal with acceptances so that even people who interview on the last day have spot in the class and aren't interviewing for WL spots.

I completed my secondaries 9/10 & received email confirmation from Stanford on 9/14.
Generally, how long are folks waiting before an ii arrives ? That is to say, for those who have
actually received an ii, how long was the wait after secondary completion ?

Already, train? How many schools did you apply to total? Not to be mean or intrusive, but I feel like we are all in on this together despite being anonymous board users...

I applied to ten. I have UCSF left. Oh well, I might add a few. I'm thinking about adding Drexel or Meharry.

You've already been rejected by nine schools? 🙁

Take a peek at RFU, Drexel, Tulane, MCW, Creighton, GWU and a couple PA schools. Best of luck! :luck:

Thanks! I added Drexel already.
And don't worry about me. The schools that rejected me are in the top 25 so it isn't a surprise with my horrible mcat. I'll just retake the test next year. 🙂

I'm sorry to hear this! 🙁

Do you guys live in the San Francisco area? If that's the case, I'm sure there are lovely rejection letters just waiting to reach the rest of us who live farther away...

+1 👍

Stanford is a bit of a Hail Mary for me, and I live in Texas. Just checked the rejection thread and noticed that Stanford had started sending out rejections via snail mail and was surprised I haven't gotten it yet. Maybe its just cause we live further away

Please don't reject me Stanford. The Bay area is so nice, and your research is amazing!

For those of you who have received rejection letters, when were you complete?

Thanks! And good luck! I have heard Stanford is one of those schools that is particularly strange in who they invite.
