For all you postbacc academic enhancers out there, I called office of admission. The lady said that any current classes I am taking right now must be a B or better but courses I have completed with C's are okay. Someone might want to double check me on this but I am going to do the secondary now 🙂
 
How long does it take to receive a secondary after your amcas is verified? Mine was verified on the 10th of July

Went to UCI for undergrad, but still no secondary from them. Apparently, it's pending...

I had a few Cs on mine, so I wouldn't sweat it.

How's your summer going? And when do classes start again for you guys?

Bza was a big help to me in getting to know the school/preparing for the interview. Hopefully I can do the same to this year's applicants.

I'll be starting in a few weeks, so I'll try my best to answer your questions about the app process. Good luck to everyone!

Oh and if you haven't received your secondary yet be patient. It's still early 🙂

Thanks 🙂. My summer has been busy with research/volunteering, but I'm enjoying it immensely. Second years don't start school until Aug 13th.

I talked to admissions. For all completed coursework, I think C's or higher are ok. But if you are currently enrolled or will be taking future courses, those must be a B or higher. If you notice, they changed the little note at the bottom of the pre-reqs page on the secondary.
 
No secondaries sent yet? This wait is killing me!, even though I have 10+ secondaries to fill out now

The UC system pre-screens so not everyone receives secondaries. Although that probably means they take longer to send them out too. Don't lose hope!
 
Is anyone getting a "Data has not been saved. Over Limit" error, even though their character count is below that max?

I'm only getting it when I copy and paste my challenges essay...



EDIT:Seems like the magic number is 1792. Everytime I got over that I get the error

I had the same problem I gave up and just cut my essay shorter.

for those of you who had ur LORs received, how many days did it take for it to be received by UCI? it's been like 5 days for me so i'm wondering... thanks!!
 
Just for everyone's information. I found the following on their site.

From the 2010-2011 cycle:

~5,000 total applicants
~2,500 secondaries sent
~500-600 interviews
Final class of 104 students.
 
Still no secondary.. I wonder how stringent their screen is, I got a secondary from both san diego and sf..
They probably go in batches (crosses fingers ha)

That's ironic, because I've gotten secondaries from sd and from irvine, but nothing from sf. Wanna trade Irvine for SF? 😉 👍

I know for a fact they DO go out in batches. They also give out interviews / rejections within those batches. Apparently they don't let the apps pile up, which is good news to those getting secondaries late.
 
so if i submitted my primaries on 6/6 and got the application received email on 7/11 with no secondary so far, is there no hope?

I got the secondary 10 minutes before I got the email confirming their receipt of my application lol.

I think I've just been "Incepted"
 
7/22 submitted secondary
7/24 completed
7/24 under review

Mind if I ask for your stats? UCI is one of my top choices, and I really want to know if I stand a chance!

I don't mind at all. I have a cGPA of 3.77 with science GPA of 3.81. my MCAT score is 32. And I am a student from UC.
 
As a recent graduate from UCI, you only get the UCInetID once you've been accepted.

Anyone know if anyone else has gotten interviews???
 
So I just curiously checked my status and got a UCI interview invite dated today!!! Whaaaaaaat. Did not get an email.


Also there is a link telling me to activate a UCI Net ID but I am wondering if I can just use my still current UCI ID(went to undergrad there)..hmm though I see they gave me a new student ID #.

Happened to me too. Congrats and good luck!!

For those interviewing check the 2012-2013 applicant sticky for mock interview help with current med students from around the country. I would have loved to have this kind of help last year.
 
So I received secondary on 7/25. and I submitted today on 7/26. Paid the fee and all. But on the status page, it says they have not received my LORs from AMCAS. But all my LORs are in since early June. Is this common for all those who submitted secondaries already? Does it take a while after you submit your secondary for them to download LORs?

EDIT: nvm. just saw the above posts. Seems like it usually takes about 2-3 days for them to download LORs and for application to be complete.

Congrats on the interview! Yes, you can still use your old undergrad UCInetID. But you won't have to worry about setting that up until you're accepted (you just contact the tech department and they'll update your info).

I went to UCI for undergrad, then was a UCI employee during my gap years, and now I'm here for med school. I've had the same UCInetID and email the entire time, but have 3 different ID numbers :laugh:.
