Hi everyone. Just to make sure I understand the prereq for chemistry... The one year lab requirement is just one year of any chem lab right? (not like one year of general and one year of organic...) Thanks!
 
Did you guys notice that your status page changed by asking you to activate a UCInetID? or is this just me?

Yeah though I wasn't actually able to activate one using the ID they gave(though I have a UCInetID + Old Student ID # + Employee ID # so that could be part of the problem).
 
Anyone else been "under review" for over a week? Makes me nervous.

Just got the official rejection after being under review since 7/18. The email said they've already reviewed 5000 applications. That sounds pretty crazy. Good luck to everyone else and go here if you get in so you don't take my spot elsewhere!
 
Hm I was complete 7/17. Still "under review". Sorry to hear about the rejection! At least they don't seem to do silent rejections...

Anyone here is still waiting for secondary ? I received an email with a link to the status page and password on July 10th. I still haven't been awarded the secondary since then. Does this mean pre-secondary silent rejection ? I'm IS btw.

I got the email about the status page on July 11th and I'm still waiting, IS also. My July MCAT score got released earlier this month though, so I assumed that's why they were lagging if I get a secondary or not.
 
Complete 7/22, interview invite today. 🙂 Congrats to everyone else who got one and good luck to the rest of you!

I got my MCAT score in place before my AMCAS was verified. I'm probably screwed 🙁
 
For those of you already submitted their secondaries and still "under review"... did you guys see a link on top that says "Activate your UCINetID"?

Did you guys do it?
 
I've had that since day one of having the secondary. And no it didn't work when I tried the link

Dunno about the GPA/MCAT "cutoffs" for OOS, but according to MSAR (for OOS apps):

984 Verified apps
44 Interviewed

No info on how many secondaries were sent out =\

But about 5% of applicants get interviewed from OOS, as opposed to a bit over 10% for IS
 
Was anyone on here verified in June, took the MCAT in July, got scores in August, and hasn't heard anything since the initial "we got your stuff" email?

Thanks- that at least gives me a little better idea.
 
What are some topics people have chosen for the challenge they overcame? I feel like I will sound incredibly whiny in this essay compared to the magnitude of challenges others have overcame.

Honestly, I don't think they expect everyone to submit some super-moving story about some super-difficult challenge they had to overcome to be where they are; they're probably just looking for someone who has the ability to learn from their mistakes/setbacks & strong enough to overcome difficulties (rather than backing off, hiding, or running away) - cause you'll probably experience a TON of those in med school & later on in your career. So just choose something meaningful to YOU and make the focus not about how tough (or not) the challenge was, but how you were able overcome it & learn from it. If you do that I doubt you could come off whiny.
 
I wrote about a time my wife and I got lost in a canyon while rock climbing. It was a challenge, and I overcame it.
 
Still haven't received the secondary although they got my verified AMCAS app and MCAT score in early July 🙁 Except this school and UCSF, I have received secondaries from all other CA schools.

Just got rejected pre-interview as well. Complete 7/18. Slightly above their averages. Non-traditional, and I live 8 minutes away. Very surprising to me

Eheh.. I added Irvine late (somehow/for some reason missed it when I was submitting AMCAS primary..), so I'm still waiting on the secondary. At least you're ahead of me!
 
Just received this secondary! Was practically thinking I had been rejected since I had the received status on 7/11...so a little over 1 month to get the secondary!

This should give some hope to those of you still waiting for a secondary. 🙂
 
I haven't had a chance to look but does anyone have the median and mean stats out of the MSAR for UCI?
 
What is the general consensus for us California Students? Is it more probable that we receive an interview invite out-of-state or in-state? No love from my home state so far.
