Yep mine says under review still as well. It feels like forever but I think its been ~2.5wks

I think schools generally vary...4-6 wks from submission of secondary seems to be average-ish...

5-6 weeks typically. You'll get a phone call if you're accepted, or an email (I think) if you're waitlisted/rejected.

As for time from submitting primary to getting secondary, I remember it varying quite a bit. The UCs in general tend to be slower in the process. So hang tight everyone!!

I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but looking at last year's UCI thread, people complete around 8/8 received interview invites toward the end of September/beginning of October. So if they're on the same schedule as last year, there's still hope! At least, I still have some (complete 8/2). 🙂

soo do you guys think it's too late to add this school to my primary? I was too afraid to apply to cali schools because I heard they favor instate like crazy. My stats are 34Q mcat 3.60 gpa, NY resident. Thoughts?

If you have $34 to spend, why not?
 
It is not too late to apply...go for it. The official admissions policy is that we show no preference to IS vs OOS applicants. It just works out that many more IS applicants actually apply to UCI and so the class tends to be composed of CA residents. If you have a compelling reason to want to come to Irvine...let us know!

Edit: Oops guess I'm wrong. Is the reason why UCs are so hard to get into for OOS really just because there are so many Cali applicants?

Would you recommend a letter of interest? Or a simple email? How do you think this interest could be conveyed?
 
Just got the Prime-LC interview invitation. So stoked!
 
OMG I got a secondary invite!!! 😱 I know it probably doesn't mean much but I'm ecstatic anyway :laugh: I was verified about a week ago and I'm OOS so I was not expecting this.

Got my interview invite last night! I'm IS, and I was complete August 28.

Interview Invite this afternoon via email!! Complete mid-August.
 
Have I been silently rejected if I was complete in early August? 🙁
 
Don't forget to check your status! I was awarded (my first!!) interview and found out via status check, not email.

Yeah, I was given an interview invite a day before I got my email... and I kind of regret not checking, because I may have been able to sign up for an earlier date had I checked.

When I logged in there was only 1 date available anyway... Hopefully 1 day doesn't make too much of a difference.
 
MSTP invite today!! I had started to think Irvine forgot about me... C 7/17.

Yeah, all the UCs get hit with the home crowd applicants. And, as a side note, the more applicants any given undergrad produces, the more well-represented they tend to be in our student body. It's just the numbers. That being said, UCI strives for diversity and being OOS can be a great way to add to the class.

Most successful applicants demonstrate this best during interviews, ie -- 'my brother/sister/boyfriend attends UCI' or 'my family/friends/support network is in SoCal'. But even simple geographic ties can be mentioned in the AMCAS app & secondary.

Even if you don't have those kinds of ties, just doing homework on what UCI has to offer in terms of student programs & extracurricular activities--and then communicating them during the interview--is more than a lot of other applicants ever do, believe it or not!
 
oh man just submitted my secondary. this is my #1 school. i have never written such creative essays in my entire life.

Sorry to hear about that =[. Try not to think that way though, I know how it feels. Submitted to 19 schools around mid august, haven't had anything except 2 rejections =[

I'm so sorry. I kind of feel your pain, but I have lower stats so I expect it. But what are your extracurriculars? How did you write your PS? Who were you're letters of rec? If you want, I'd like to know so I can help you get on the right track and assess what is going on.

Also, it's only September so you might get interviews in November and October!

Awarded 9/26 but just found out today as I was checking the site. I usually check all my 2ndaries once a week. I might be willing to do it every day now... Who knows what the fruits of my stalking labor might net me!

VERY VERY excited for Interview!

same here, complete since 8/21, still under review. To quote someone from another thread, it seems we are in the purgatory pile....
 
Has anyone who's applied early, received a secondary lately? I was verified early July and still waiting. Just wanted to gauge my chances.

😱 Wow, if you got rejected with those stats then that means I have no shot, and I'm also OOS. You'll definitely get in to a great school with those stats, don't worry!

I was complete about a week after you so maybe that means they're getting to my application soon :scared:
