Bro, you should stop stressing about your stats. Everyone has told you time and time again that your stats are at or above many of the schools you applied to, including this one. The biggest and probably only thing holding you back is your late submission. If people post their stats, you're going to notice some with stats worse than yours and better than yours, but it still won't tell you anything. As much as it sucks to hear it brah, you just gotta wait. Hopefully you hear good news soon :xf:
 
I interviewed 10/23 for the MSTP program. I haven't heard back yet from the MD program, so does this mean rejection?
 
I have an interview here coming up, and I was checking out the interview feedback page which no one has posted on since 2011! I was wondering if anyone else could share their experience interviewing here, and maybe share some questions they were asked. Thank you! 🙂

interview day is very relaxed - you have a student and a faculty interviewer. In regards to the questions, it's a lot of the typical - why medicine, why UCI, what do you like to do for fun, what are your experiences, etc etc.

Agree with previous poster. Interview day is very relaxed. If you are able to attend the dinner at Gina's beforehand you will already have a leg-up in terms of understanding what the school has to offer. Come prepared with questions as both my faculty and student interviewers asked what questions I had for them. I experienced no "gotcha" questions or ethical questions. The student interview was very informal and friendly.

I was very very impressed with UCI, their dedication to their students and their brand new facilities, including the Sim Center.

Received an II today for 4/1.

I guess I will be interviewing for the waitlist.
 
Has anyone heard anything recently? I interviewed mid-Nov and remember the dean saying we would hear via status update in mid-Dec.. nothing on my end though 🙁

Perhaps I'm remembering wrong?

I also interviewed mid-November and you're correct. She said before Christmas for us. I guess that gives them another week and a half?

I interviewed Nov. 15 and yea, i definitely remember her saying that we'd find out before christmas. hopefully that still happens! good luck guys
 
Accepted to PRIME-LC! 12/7/2012
So excited!

First day the program is giving acceptances for those wondering. Only a few PRIME acceptances given out thus far, or so I was told.
 
PRIME acceptance as well. I can't believe it. 4 years ago I started out with this exact goal, and it's finally been achieved. Sometimes, life is just really really good.

Anybody remember when decisions are made about people on alternate list? And also what percent of people get accepted off alternate list

Received a secondary invitation today! Really thought I was finished filling applications out.

Anybody else receive one recently? Are the earliest interviews available really in April?

I sent a letter to Dr. Peterson right after I got alternate listed--she responded by saying they don't go over people on the alternate list until they get "closer to spring". Percentage-wise, it seems like a good number should come off the list--they accept 1/3 outright post interview, but end up with about 50% acceptance if you look at their overall numbers. Plus I spoke with some students on interview day and it definitely seems like they know lots of people getting off the alt. list.

realllly hoping they take lots of folks off the alternate list 😛

Looking forward to starting the med journey with yall at UCI. We should get a facebook group starteddd for our class. For everyone still in the running... there's still like 6 months left in the process..gotta say, if you got a secondary/interview from UCI, chances are you're a highly competitive candidate... good news awaits for sureee. lookin forward to it.. report here as soon as you get somethin.

Maybe you won't! I've been complete since 7/11, and I haven't heard a peep since I submitted my secondary 😕

<3 <3 <3 tried so hard on the essays and sent a candid update letter by email 2 weeks ago. so glad that I did.

hope it's not for the waitlist =(

If one other school doesn't work out, it definitely seems ill be going to UCIIIIIIII. i know this is a superficial thing... but i'm seriously lookin forward to their iPads. hehe
 
Rejected last night, post-secondary, pre-interview.

3.7/33N, Psychology major, focus in gender and sexual minority health (may have been a factor in my rejection).

Hello again, everyone! Congrats to the people who received acceptances!! 😀 Sorry if I haven't been around, anatomy started and kinda took up all my time, lol. I do have some info for you guys.

There was an interview day today and there will be 7 more interview days for this cycle (2 more in Jan, 2 in Feb, 1 in Mar, and 2 in Apr). The number of people per interview varies, but it will be anywhere from 30-50 people per day. None of these interview days are for waitlists and the admissions committee is still sending out secondaries and interview invites.

Tip: Now that a lot of students have received acceptances (to here and to other institutions), there are some interview spots opening up, so if you received/submitted a secondary now is the time to send letters/updates/etc to try to snag one of those spots.

Tip 2: If you are waitlisted, don't fret, a good chunk of the people in my class got in off the waitlist anytime from June to right before orientation, so around April/May, I would send in letters/updates/etc because from now until April/May the admissions committee will be focused on the applicants/secondaries/interviews/etc.

Obviously, this is all just advice. Send in stuff whenever you please, I am just letting you guys know the stage the admissions committee is at with regards to applications at this time.

Lastly, if you have any questions about uci, student life, extracurriculars, curriculum, etc, please feel free to PM me. Please don't PM me with comparisons between uci and another school because I may not know anything about the other school in question. Also, don't PM me about your chances because I am not knowledgable about that either, lol.

Thanks for being there today! I was there today and had a good visit. Dr. Peterson said UCI doesn't really accept updates for people interviewing, but it seemed like she was talking about people who are waitlisted 6 weeks post interview. Is it ok to send updates between now and when a decision is made?
 
Is UCI receptive to update letters/letters of interest pre-interview? They're a big school, so I'm afraid to write up a letter if it won't count for anything.

Yes they are; I recently sent in an update and got a quick "thank you" response. Also, I remember reading on some forum or website about one student's application process. She was ultimately accepted into UCI and claimed that her repeated update letters and continued interest were instrumental in her achievement.

I'm surprised that they had any interview slots left, tbh. I won't be interviewing until April, but hey, IT AIN'T OVER TIL IT'S OVER!

A cousin of mine attended here and had nothing but good things to say. She was actively involved in the LGBT organization and community there and thoroughly enjoyed her time. From what she told me, UCI seems like a very LGBT-friendly university. I'm curious as to why you say the opposite?
