hmm. when/where did you hear this? I don't think UCI has ever mentioned an official process for gathering updates for applications...you can send in update letters on your own if you want, but they were clear in saying that there would not be any re-review/WL movement until May 15 (or in this case, right before May 15!)

Yeah, I sent an update letter probably six weeks ago and they said it would be added to my file but to send another "closer to mid-May", because that's when the wait list would be reviewed. I think they might have said in that email that they were going to actively solicit updates from people around that time too.

Thanks - that is consistent with what I heard at my interview day
 
Is it normal for WL movement to start before all regular acceptances have gone out?

I was hoping they'd get to the WL before May 15, so I'm glad that's what seems to be happening. I definitely wasn't expecting May 2 to be "close to mid-May" for them - so anxious for a call now!

Umm I don't think the word "normal" has anything to do with this whole process.

Uh okay. Is it typical for WLs to start moving before people who interviewed in April have even heard back yet? Seems bizarre to me.

Yeah, this seems pretty weird. I think someone asked this a few pages back, but I didn't see an answer-- for people on the WL who were invited to the 2nd look, was there something in common with your applications? Were you all applying to the PRIME program or something? Haha, probably totally grasping at straws here, but just wondering if somehow your group is extra special (besides having awesome applications and interviews at UCI of course!)?
 
Does anyone from the 4/1 interview know anything about when they might possibly call us??

No PRIME for me...and I don't think we were all that similar--we all had a mix of experiences, some of in school, some of us have been out of school. Your guess is as good as mine!

Just got the call. May the fourth be with you too.
 
Dr. Peterson woke me up from my hangover nap today. For those interested, I interviewed on the very first day (late Sep.) and was waitlisted in late October. Got invited to the revisit, and then accepted today. Pretty sure I'll be going here, so see you guys soon!
 
I'm in! (Off the waitlist.) Got the call a couple hours ago. Too excited.

Thank you! My fingers are crossed for you. It seems like they have only just started on the waitlist, so I'm certain you'll hear good news soon.

I interviewed in November, got waitlisted in December, and was invited to/went to second look as well.
 
Has anyone else from the 4/1 interview gotten the call? Does this mean waitlist that for those of us who didn't get calls?

Thank you! Okay I guess its not "in order" I interviewed late October, wait listed in November. I know WL movement just started but a part of me irrationally freaks out everyday I hear about calls and I don't get one. Fingers crossed indeed!

Withdrew my acceptance from UCI. ahhh was so heartwrenching to do so... i loved the school and would've loved to stay close to home. Hoping my spot will go to someone who really loves the school and is just really awesome! good luck everyonee!

Edit: Also, the class facebook group has about 160 people, mannyy of whom are current MS1's who have been answering our questions. Assuming almost everyone who got accepted is part of this FB group, then it doesn't seem that the adcom overaccepted a lot of students. May be good for current waitlisters?

only one person has gotten off the waitlist so far, and he/she went to revisit day.

yup. wifey's right. three people so far..i think they were all at revisit day. Ack I must have met every one of you that day! so scared the last few evenings--i've been impulsively checking my phone for missed calls...and checking this thread incessantly for any news/updates.

fingers crossed for good news soon...

Oops, missed one! Three it is. Though I can't tell from jpsilva's post if he/she went to revisit or just got the invite. Either way, it seems that getting invited is the most important part, rather than attending, since they didn't seem to be re-evaluating us in any way at second look. I think they must have just invited the top whatever percent of the waitlist. I think you'll get a call soon, imcanadaian!
 
Just checking in, I was indeed at Revisit Day as a waitlister. Dumb question here: When is orientation/first day of classes/gimme my iPad day?

I would also like to know. Im not accepted but this is something that I am wondering about. I cant find it on their website.

Orientation: July 31 - Aug 6
White coat (tentative): Aug 2
Classes start: Aug 7

So glad I could finally make myself useful around here!

That's true. Revisit day was so relaxed and they treated wait listers pretty much the same as the accepted students. Thanks for the encouragement best coast! I'm thinking calls will come near the end of this week/over the weekend. In the meantime, fingers crossed! 🙂

Anyone else surprised that its ALREADY almost mid may!? Crajee.

I guess there were no calls today....

I had an irrational moment of fear today that UCI had accepted everyone they were gonna accept from the WL-but-invited-to-revisit group, and I had been left behind 🙁

This waiting process is gonna destroy my nerves haha

Got a call today during my midterm. I thought, "who would call me at this time?" Then I got all excited because I thought it might be UCI. It was just my dad... this anxiety is killing me haha
