anyone hear anything lately? fb group has grown to 181 members 🙁
 
Haven't heard a word 🙁

Supposedly there are a lot of current M1/M2 students in the FB group; don't let the 181 scare you too badly.

I met an M4 at Revisit Day who told me she didn't get her acceptance until July when she applied... so hang in there. I guess we just have to stay patient and hope for the best.

Rawr. Sucks. Where are you guys headed otherwise? Or is this your only shot this year? I dont mind waiting cuz im already in, but planning logistically for two potential cities is annoying

Only shot for me! Hoping for some good news any day now. Going to submit my 2014 application today. Sad times.

dang. sucks. that's a ton of pressure. Hang in there guys--hoping there will be some good luck for us in the future.

As for the prospect of reapplying, goodluck with that too!! It's a pain and really tough to go through all the waiting and the stress again, but you will make it!

For those accepted, have you guys received housing offers yet? I filled out mine a while ago and haven't heard a peep yet.

Only shot for me as well; the anxiety is seriously killing me! 🙁 Where else are you maybe heading Canadaian?

Ugh man that's so hard. Have you started reapplying??

I was fortunate to get into other places this cycle. If UCI doesn't come through I will be heading to SUNY downstate in Brooklyn. I'm lucky for sure to have options but family/life circumstances right now really make UCI the clear cut top choice.

Best of luck to us Beets! Here's still hoping that we weren't being ruthlessly teased at revisit day!

Wow, you're in a tough spot too. It must be hard not knowing which side of the country you'll end up on... I can only imagine how difficult the waiting has been in terms of planning and figuring out your living situation. Good luck; fingers crossed we'll both be able to stay in California! I haven't reapplied yet; I think I'm going to wait another week or two before I resubmit.
 
Anyone have an idea what date PRIME-LC begins? I know the program has some summer activities.

Haha yeah its been a bit crazy. Been putting off making plans anywhere since in my mind I'm in so much limbo. Hope we get good news soon! I've reapplied a few tines, including immediately after a failed cycle...so lemme know when that time comes if you need help. But let's hope we don't have to go there 🙂

Thanks guys! This is certainly a dream come true. I still cant believe it! To those waiting Dr Peterson did say she's calling to make offers..plural 🙂 so hopefully you guys get some good news soon!!

So I just called admissions. There are currently >250 people on the wait list, for "maybe a few spots" according to the person I spoke with. Apparently there's been almost no wait list movement this year, whereas in previous years a good chunk of the incoming class came from the wait list. Those that went to revisit day probably have a good chance of getting in, but the rest of us probably won't be so fortunate.

Sorry if this information is depressing--but since there's basically no information on the wait list available anywhere online, I figured I'd share what admissions told me.

Good luck to those still waiting! Hopefully a few more of you get calls today :luck:

haha thanks. and yah I'm on vacation from work right now--took a few weeks off just for my own break/sanity--so it was a pleasant surprise to get the call this morning. I'm still waiting for the confirmation email/acceptance paperwork haha--so far all I have is the phone call to go on. the moment I get the chance to confirm...then its full on celebration time!

dang. that stinks. well. at least one person has gotten off the WL who wasn't at revisit--so it's not a completely shut door. Goodluck goodluck!!
 
So happy for you imcanadaian! It would have been so cruel of them to invite you to second look and then not admit you. I was a waitlistee at second look as well, so that was my biggest fear until I got that wonderful phone call!

So now the FB group is at 207!! Did that many people really get pulled from the waitlist recently? If there was ginormous waitlist movement, congrats to everyone who got the call, but can I haz some?

What was it at before? When I called admissions last week they said that there was almost no waitlist movement this year.

imcanadaian wrote that it was at 181 a few days before he got accepted. So like ~25 new people in the span of a week or so? I guess there could be any number of explanations for where they came from, but it still makes me feel le sad (for myself).

FWIW, there haven't been any "hi everyone I just got accepted! Help me find housing!" Messages on the fb group. I'm like the only one who did that haha...so perhaps the group has added more upperclassmen instead of WL folk. Gluck you two! Hope you can get in soon!!

Thanks, imcanadaian! I know chances are so slim at this point so I'm working on moving on, but for some cruel reason I haven't kicked my compulsion to constantly check SDN and the fb group 😳 Hopefully that habit subsides once I actually matriculate at another school :laugh:

I have had the same thought myself (although I don't live close enough to hand it to her). However, I've wondered how obnoxious it would be to send an email directly to her. On the admissions site, Dr. Peterson's statement indicates to contact the [email protected]. address. It would seem that sending directly to her email address would likely be considered inappropriate, with the added feature of not being able to follow instructions. We'll just hope that the emails and letters of intent being sent to admissions are actually making their way to her.
 
yea but this process is just so subjective. one little display of enthusiasm might tip the scale in your favor.

I sent all of my LOIs to the medadmit email as well as directly to Dr. Peterson. I wrote all my letters directly to her; it just made sense in my head to send it directly. The admissions office would always inform me that my letter was formally added to my file. Dr. Peterson only responded to one of my first letters--simply informing me that they would be reviewing alt list candidates later in the cycle.

Writing and sending my letters directly helped me be more sincere and express my interest/updates more personally...plus it felt good thinking that she was reading them as I sent them

Haha I actually did go to revisit 🙂

not sure if there's any more WL movement forthcoming...but good luck to y'all who are still waiting!
 
oh damn for some reason i thought you didn't go since you were the latest person to get in.
 
So, does anyone have the official bottom line? Anything recent? Is it over?

Thanks very much for the input.....but they haven't seen fit to send out any rejections yet either apparently? So not okay.
