Thanks!

I have a friend that's an MS1 down there and he loves the school so I'm sure it will be a fantastic day... except that part about getting up super early considering I'm from the west coast 😴

Rejected as well, but that was expected. lol

Just want to echo what everyone else has been saying, and say thanks to REL and UCF for being so upfront/straightforward with everything. You guys are awesome. Congrats to all that have been accepted, and gl to those interviewing.

Two quick questions to those who have interviewed:

1) How many students were at your interview day?

2) Do they give you a folder or should I bring my portfolio?

Thanks!

1) There were roughly 20 students.

2) You get a folder, same as every school. You're good sans portfolio 🙂

This may be a silly question, but will an acceptance be rescinded if I were to get a 'C' on my last semester transcript?
I'm not sure.. some schools make you explain any grades below a 'B'.
I currently have a decent GPA for both sciences/overall (3.6+) and haven't gotten a 'C' before. I am just taking an upper elective that I need to graduate with my major and not doing too well on the exams (just had the second exam today). It's a new professor and it seems like no one in the class is doing well, but can't say for sure if the class will be curved or not. The professor says it won't.

My other classes this semester are fine so my final transcript could be something like: A, A, A, A, C.... and if so, my overall GPA and science would still be around the same 3.5/3.6.

Forgive me if I'm being too paranoid, but I just wanted to know if there would be any consequences if I received a C on my transcript. OF COURSE, even if there weren't any consequences, I'd still try to at least get a B.

No silent rejections, emails have been flowing incrementally for about a week. II's will be done by Monday at the latest.

So did anyone hear anything today?

Samwell,

I'm not sure, and I'm just saying this speculatively, but the acceptance letter says that our offer is contingent upon the successful completion of our coursework and degree. To me that indicates that C or better is okay. Having said that, I'm sure 4 c's isn't the best idea, but I don't think your situation would be one in which they would rescind. I know a lot of schools just require that you explain the c to them and from there, they're pretty understanding.

But take this with a grain of salt. I speak as a fellow applicant, not with any special sort of insight. 🙂

This is great guidance and on the mark.

Hi Rel,
Can you please share with us how many more acceptances UCF plans to give prior to the May 15 deadline? I know there are a few of us at the top of the waiting list anxiously awaiting to hear back, so it would be really helpful to know how soon we can expect something.

Thank you!!

So we will probably be admitting about 40 more by the end of March and it is likely you will be in great shape either with an offer, nor very near. I would think you would be a lock for May.

REL, I primarily want to say thank you for all of the help that you provide to us! It's SO nice not having to wonder what's the status with such a huge part of our lives!

Just got the call today that I'm in the top half of the top third and just for my own sanity I have to ask - is it safe to start looking for apartments in Lake Nona?! 🙂 Been dreaming of this acceptance for so long and just want to put my mind at ease since it's not "official" yet!

REL,

About how many acceptances have you given out thus far? Thank you.

On Feb. 1st, we were told that ~85 acceptances had been given out. I'm sure that number has gone up by now, but just a ballpark until REL gets back to you.

Does anyone know when financial aid packages are sent out?

+2 I realize this probably varies greatly, but I figure it's worth a shot.

Also, does the scholarship committee take into account the student's parental financial information if it is submitted with FAFSA? I went ahead and included mine just in case.

Thanks! I imagine that 100-110 acceptances have been given out as of the conclusion of this week's Tuesday admissions committee meeting on the 19th. How far am I off, REL? 🙂

Should not be a problem, search away. Currently there are apts being build right at the Lake Nona exit...dont know when they will open....also most live in 3-4 newer apts off Narcoossee about 10 mins from COM.

Should begin to receive information in about a month, near the end of March. We will not use parental data so if included, it will be ignored.

We are closing in on 120 after the committee meeting last night.

Thank you for your timely response.

Does this number also account for acceptances that acceptees have turned down, or does it only reflect acceptees who are currently holding the acceptances?

Additionally, since interviews are probably all scheduled now, about how many interviews have you had for this cycle?

Thanks.

It is seats in seats.

Assume nothing. You have been neither selected nor rejected. That means you are in a small group that we are keeping available in the even an interview spot opens up......a kind of nether-world....

Alright. I'll take it 😀

Hey REL,
I apologize if this has been answered in a previous post, but when is the last interview date for this season?

Thanks! 🙂

For some reason I was under the impression March 8th was the last interview day, but can't seem to find it in the thread.

I think I speak for everyone on the WL: make that group bigger as soon as possible! Hehe 🙂

Rel,
How exactly does the waitlist breakdown work? From what I understand, it is divided into thirds and subsequently those thirds divided into halves? Approximately from where upwards should an applicant expect admission from based on previous years? I appreciate any clarification. Thank you for all of your help!

So based on the past my projections are:
- Upper third, very solid probablility of acceptance
- Middle third, upper half also has a good chance of an offer; lower half has a chance too but we will likely drift to a stop in this area.
- Lower third, extreme upper portion may have a limited chance.....

We will not KNOW the real answer until we get there.

Only one week till my interview!! 😱 :soexcited:

To those that have interviewed: how long is the turn-around time from interview to phone call with a status?

About 19 days for me (but everything was around the holidays).

I interviewed very early in the season... so I had to wait until October 16th. It was like a month and a half. Idk about the actual turnaround time.

Hi REL - about how far into the bottom half of the middle third did you go last cycle? Not very far, or most of the way down?

So the wait-list as a whole is updated on a 4-5 week basis, or is it 4-5 weeks for each individual student based on when they got their initial call?

Thanks!
