Just out if curiosity, what is the reasoning behind the Committee not accepting any updates for wait listed students? Or at least not really reviewing them.

I feel like the (almost) strict reliance on the ranking system in pulling from the waitlist necessitates that policy. Re-ranking applicants based on updates would be ideal, but it's also prohibitively cumbersome.

I think the reasoning behind not accepting updates was that it would require re-reviews of all waitlisted interviewees who submitted updates. As the number of waitlisted interviewees increased, the number of interviewees with updates that would require re-reviewing would also possibly increase (given that everyone would have opportunities to send updates), which would make each admissions meeting increasingly cumbersome.

So it looks like you would be a natural as one of the student members of the admissions committee.

I just gave up my spot. REL has been awesome and best of luck to you, future Knights!

Thanks guys!!

I'm gettin' excited for some serious movement this week 😀

Maybe at the end of the day REL will report how far down the waitlist they got to hopefully bring peace of mind to us still waiting :xf:

I keep dreaming about that beautiful piano in the COM lobby...

I keep thinking about how I'm going to stay calm if I get a Florida area code on my phone at work in the next few days. Don't want anyone to think I need to take a trip to the loony bin

Hey guys for those getting accepted later, we have a room for rent! Master bedroom private bath 3 car garage Gym, study room(office). Right down street from COM! Other medical roommates text call me and congrats for getting accepted!! 407-716-8646

Well I just withdrew from UCF COM, somebody hand me a drink.

I only did it because I want to be somewhere else geographically. It was probably one of the hardest emails to send ever. Stared at it contemplating whether or not to hit send for so long. All of you on the wait list are extremely deserving of a spot, so I hope that one of you enjoys my place in the Class of 2017. UCF COM is a very special place.

For all of the future applicants reading back to this year's thread, this Admissions Committee is without a doubt the most transparent, friendly, informative one I experienced all year. REL is the warmest AdCom member you will ever speak to and he deserves a medal for what he does. Feel free to message me about my experience applying to UCF COM, I will only have positive things to say about the application process here.

Anyway, I wish you all the best of luck. I hope you have a killer experience at UCF COM. Congratulations to everybody getting off the wait list. Go Knights!!

Well it's past 5:00. Looks like we have to wait another day 😴

Echo everything here. Also just withdrew, and it was the hardest decision I've made in years. Will be keeping an eye on the medical city. Best of luck to you all!

+2 just withdrew as well. Literally took me to the last minute to decide. I'll always be rooting for UCF! Nothing but great things to say about the school, my interview experience, and interaction with the admissions staff. Classy people.

Withdrew here as well, would have loved to go to UCF, but state school would just have saved so much more substantially over the years that I could not pick UCF over that. Thanks so much Rel for the opportunity to experience and see the wonderful UCF COM, and I hope someone awesome gets my spot!

Accepted on Wednesday afternoon! 🙂 Bottom half of the upper 1/3

Accepted on Wednesday afternoon! 🙂 Bottom half of the upper 1/3

Congrats!

Before I get too excited, I'll pose the question again. Does anyone in the upper 1/6th still remain on the waitlist?

If not, that may mean I'm tomorrow or the very near future as REL said I sat right at the middle of the upper 1/3rd, but technically in the lower 1/2 or the upper 1/3rd :xf:

Have there been any e-mails updating applicants on waitlist status? The last one I received was in April. Can anyone confirm this; none in May so far correct?

EDIT: Nevermind, just browsed through the previous pages of the topic and noticed that REL said perhaps an email update will be post May 15th... Makes sense. Thanks.

I think he also said he would send it out next week because that would give us more information.

I was wondering...if UCF tries to keep the proportion the same by replacing an OOS student with an OOS student on the waitlist and IS with IS, will some students be skipped and go out of order despite their ranking? 😕 am i overthinking it again?

REL addressed this on my interview day. IIRC, he said they try to stick to the current rankings as best as possible, but did have to account for IS/OOS percentages. He did however also say they would not skip over a whole bunch of IS students to get one more OOS student and vise versa.

Take that as you wish, but I think this early in the game, they are just going to go straight down the list, see how it shakes out in a few weeks, and then maybe cherry pick to get that magic 25% OOS percentage.

Got the call from Rel earlier this afternoon (lower half of upper third IS) !!!! Super excited to matriculate here! 😀 Good Luck to everyone else!

Knowing we are now into the lower half of the upper 1/3rd is making me jump every time my phone buzzes. :barf:

I just need that phone call so I can put my mine at ease 😳

Although not nearly as anxious, I'm right at the upper half of the middle so I'm excited.

Huge day yesterday -- NBC news followed the graduation of our charter class!! http://www.nbcnews.com/video/nightly-news/51922759#51922759

You'll see what COM looked like when they started...you know where we are now, and where we will be when YOU graduate....how can you pick another MD program in Florida now?? We didnt exist, now we caught the established ones, and are now already rising above! Innovation, leadership, students, clinical facs, diversity....do you want this? If you want to do it like it has always been done? Go to them......:>)

Top half of middle third, OOS here...really hoping to get off the waitlist soon!!

Well another day with no news 🙁

Wonder when we will be getting our post-May 15th update from REL.

Given that some IS people from the bottom half of the top third have received offers and that OOS applicants have moved more off the waitlist last cycle, I would say it's really only a matter of time for you (and not a very long time, at that).

REL recently sent an email out saying he would try to get them out Tuesday or Wednesday.

I got no such email :scared:😕:scared:

Anyone get an update today?

:soexcited:ACCEPTED!!:soexcited:

Congratulations!!!

It's a very good sign that you've been accepted before the next update...

I look forward to meeting you this fall down in Lake Nona!

CONGRATS!! I know how much you were looking forward to this!!!

Just read the update e-mail for May status right now. Seems like I won't hear anything again until mid-June being OOS in the upper middle 1/3 but seems like there are many more OOS in front of me. I already have an acceptance and really wanted to go to Florida instead but I guess it's getting slim since school is starting in a little over 2 months 🙁

I love that both those posts were like 10 minutes from one another. 🙂 CONGRATS!

I know... I posted and then got the call 5 minutes later. It's like REL read my mind... or maybe the forum
