Accepted today!! This is my instate school, will be matriculating!

Hi Scotty I'm just a trifle curious. According to your previous posts in other threads, it seems you've taken the May 30th MCAT (of this year) and, as recently as three days ago, you posted an inquiry pertaining to specific tips on filling out the AMCAS application. If you have just recently taken the MCAT and are just now filling out applications, then would you mind please explaining how you could have been accepted to UCONN? Just posing a neutral question. Thanks!

Probably gearing up for the next cycle as a back up if they didn't get in this time. I'm doing the same thing 🙂

I was preparing for a reapplication! I retook the MCAT on May 30th, and was putting my 2014 file together.

Hahahaha I found this hilarious. Maybe J.D. is the way for you 😛

Mmmhmmm. Jkjk. 😛 That's great you were accepted, congrats! So were you not accepted anywhere else? You must be so relieved.

Hey everyone, long-time lurker - finally decided to make an account. Matriculating at UConn this fall!

Hey everyone, long-time lurker - finally decided to make an account after being accepted to UConn yesterday off the waitlist! Received an email around 2:20 in the afternoon.

Congrats! You must be ecstatic. At least we now know that they actually are going through the wait list.

So I guess they sent out wait list acceptances for all open spots they had, and only if people reject their offers, will they go further down the list. I'm just speculating, but does that sound probable?

Did Dr. Zeff say that? I would assume at this point it's a matter of people who are still on waitlists at other schools vacating spots.

That is the only way I see of giving out waitlist acceptances that makes sense so that they do not over-enroll. Keep going down the waitlist, wait for responses, and if more spots are needed then rinse and repeat.

Darn that's upsetting lol. Oh well..guess we'll wait and see :/

It's unfortunate, but I really think the school struggled this year due to an initial over-enrollment. I have kept track of UConn Application cycles for the last couple years, and there is usually a post-May15th surge of acceptances. I think this is a combination of the economy (more students choosing state schools versus private schools) and the increasing number of applicants every year.

I really hope people keep there heads up, because it is only the beginning of June and it is obvious that the school has a reached a point where they are filling as students drop, therefore I am sure there is more movement to come.

Hey guys! Got an acceptance email today so keep a sense of realistic optimism! It may be slower than past years but there is movement. Wish you all the best!

BRO, I been rooting for you! Congrats! You'll be matriculating?

Hey everyone, just curious -- how long does it take to receive financial aid information after sending in the 100$ deposit? Thanks

Spoke with Dr. Zeff a few days ago- sounds like it's gonna be slow moving from here on out (not that it's been all that fast...). Like we guessed, we'll be waiting to see if people holding spots at UConn clear other waitlists.

Anyone else submitting for the next cycle? I only applied here this time around, so I'm taking the plunge and hitting 'send' to a whole bunch tonight!

So am I the only one who hasn't gotten an email about waitlist tiers? I can understand the slow movement, but not being kept out of the loop for like 5 months now...

It doesn't sound like an email was ever sent out, however people actually called the admissions office. Just goes to show that there was very little WL movement. Those who got off the WL were very fortunate and must of been at the top of the list.

High alternate and resubmitting tonight to 18 schools with a bunch of good updates. Also submitting to 8 DO schools.

So does anyone have information on the First Year Medical Student Orientation? I haven't gotten anything and the fam is trying to figure stuff out...

Acceptance email @2:30pm June 13, 2013. Best of luck everybody! Hang in there, I know it's super stressful (was researching full-time while taking night classes)!

Congrats, brother! See you in August. 🙂

I just received an email from UConn which included this line "Book mailing from the Admissions Office - The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, by Rebecca Skloot. A book discussion will take place at your orientation."

I wasn't aware that graduate schools now have summer reading lists.

Heh, tell me about it. For what it's worth, it's a really good book.

Looks like we have some waitlist movement! Does anyone know about how many people are in the high tier?

No clue. It would make things a whole lot less stressful if they told us our ranking rather than just the tier.

Yeah that was really annoying... I don't see why they can't just tell us our precise positions.

Have you tried calling/getting in touch recently? I met with them last week, was told I'd need a few more people to clear before I would get in, but that it isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Also, they've admitted people the day before orientation for the past two years in a row...

I agree, knowing our rankings would be much less stressful than being kept in the dark. I want to call and get an update but don't want to seem impatient, especially if they still won't give out numerical positions.

They sent us an academic schedule for the year, orientation begins 8/14, classes start 8/19. also my book came in the mail!

Got the book, but no schedule. Did you get the book and the schedule together in one envelope? The book is awesome, by the way. About 2/3 done and loving it!

The schedule was sent via email. I can forward it to you via email if you'd like...pm me your email and I can send it to you!

Just checked my spam folder and found it and a few other UCHC emails! Thanks anyway. Also, finished the book yesterday--great stuff and poses a lot of good questions. Glad I'm attending a school that not only values the issues presented in the book, but values it to the extent of sending a copy to each matriculating student. Very interested in hearing other peoples' impressions.
