I still haven't gotten it!!

That's odd, I would shoot Dr. Zeff an email.

But on that note, has anyone received any information about shots or physical exam we need before starting in August?

Shot Lynda a call, she said they'd meant to send out the books and letters 2 weeks ago, however something delayed them until last Friday. Don't fret, as long as you've received and confirmed an acceptance, you will get the book. (I haven't received mine yet either)

Does anyone know what brand laptop we're getting and if they have a protection plan on them? I might purchase a separate protection plan if they don't offer one (soon as I find out the brand...).

I have no idea about the laptop... but I can I just say that I love Lynda Fox?

+1 (yes, Lynda is great!)

In other news, anyone looking for a place, message me! Just got a condo 0.3 miles from the med school!
( at last, MY turn to screen applicants XD bwahahahaha! )

Laptops are Dell Ultrabooks. Much better than previous years.

If it didn't have 1080P at the least, I would have been mad. Don't know how I feel about going back to Windows after Four (amazing) years with Apple. 🙁

As someone who is also coming from a Mac I was worried. Looks like they picked a pretty well equipped laptop for us though. Even upgraded the RAM and processor which will be nice. I'm sure the solid state drive will fly compared to my 2008 MacBook Pro. The 4 years of included accident protection isn't too shabby either.

Damn I didn't realize we were getting some powerhouse computers. That's awesome. I'm also coming from Mac... So a bit sad about going back to pc. Such is life... My MacBook is a paper weight these days.

Anyway I got an email from Lynda today saying she's mailing out books. Seemed like an email that was going out to many people, not just myself. Hopefully it'll arrive soon?

So pumped for school to start. Signing my lease in the forest soon. It's actually happening, dudes!

Thanks for the info about the laptop, I had no clue what it was going to be, but it seems decent enough.

I too am coming from four years of Apple and I think they are such superior machines, but oh well, I'll still have my macbook for most other things.

It's a pretty well-rounded laptop, I'm glad they chose an anti-glare business machine (touchscreen still feels gimmicky to me). While I've been working with Macs in lab for 3 years, I see pros and cons of both, and I lean slightly towards Windows for it's customizability. I'm actually worried about SSDs since they have a shorter life than HDDs...(and when they die, there's NO warning and NO recovering). Still, it's a good machine (and Dell makes good keyboards). So excited!

Accepted today! Will be matriculating. Fingers crossed for everyone else!

Congratulations!! Rooting for everyone, don't give up hope, I know it's hard!

Hey everyone, I just got an email with a form to fill out for our lab coats. I'm not sure how I want my name to appear on my coat. How are you all going to have it done?

I'm having first middle and last name put on mine. Kind of weird that it won't have our names when it's given to us haha but whatever.

Do you think we need to indicate 'MD' on the form, or is that just automatically included?

Lol we don't get a coat that says MD for another four years

But I want to be an MD now! 🙁
Just kidding. I googled my question and was reading responses on another forum where they were including the MD on their coats. I must have missed the part about being done with med school. Thanks guys!

Just curious. How long is everyone's personal bios/interesting fact? Are you talking about one thing or many?

Any updates from those on the alternate list? Looks like there's been some movement but it's hard to tell how many seats opened up.

Mine is literally a quote from LizzyM... One and a half paragraphs, not long. Don't over think it, guys 🙂

Oh, do tell!

"You choose to forego money for the privilege of being with people at the most joyous and most agonizing times in their lives, to use your skills and knowledge to help your fellow human beings so they remain in good health, to provide them comfort always and cure sometimes when they are sick and suffering, and to be there to assist them when they are laboring to bring new life into this world."

You've inspired more than you know, LizzyM!

Sweet! Good luck!

Would anyone be willing to forward me the white coat ceremony email? I've tried everything I can think of and can't get the attachment to work on my computer.

Yeah I had trouble opening it too, I had to do some weird "merger" thing on Word, and it opened correctly, does it offer you the option for that?

Nope, just an error message.

EDIT: Just got it. Covered in blue lines?... Whatever. I'll make it work!

This may be a silly questions, but is the interview regarding community health supposed to be scheduled prior to orientation or closer to our meeting regarding the SCP in August?
