Call the admissions office tomorrow morning. There were no slots listed as available when I got my invite but they gave me a few options when I called.

Thanks! I plan to do that. Unfortunately, I didn't get home today until after 6pm ET so I missed the office hours.

From what I had to go through, was that I saw the late-Feb dates with slots all closed, I checked back after two days and the march slots came up with available. So Im guessing that may happen to you as well. Because the early march interviews are coming up, I assume you won't see any cancellations. But thats just my thinking.

Quick question about the interview - Does the interviewer have your whole file or just the essays? I was checking the interview feedback section and it looks like someone this year was asked about their GPA but in past years they said that they only had the essays.

Both of my MD interviewers made it clear that they only had my essays; in fact, one of them seemed kind of annoyed that a lot of interviewees didn't know that. That person probably mentioned their GPA in their essay(s).

I've been decision pending forever now.. I interviewed in early December. Wondering what you other people in this boat are thinking? Is there any commonality between us? I'm OOS with subpar GPA.

Also, how hard is it to establish IL residency and pay lower tuition M2-4?

I'm in the same boat. Great MCAT, IS, subpar GPA. UIC is my number 1 for a variety of reasons, and waiting until June 1st seems awful.

I'm not sure, but it is achievable. My cousin did this through his wife working and getting W2s in chicago.

No idea on the exact rules though.

Getting residency is difficult. From what I've been told getting married to a resident is one of the few circumstances that you would be able to get it.

Status switched to "Application is in Process" today. Guess that's a rejection.

🙁

Hey, ewillia8
Did your status change from application is in process to applicant in process? If not, how did your status change? Thanks

🙁

I'm in the same situation since Tuesday.. it seems like in the past on SDN when people get this status it only takes 1 to 2 days to switch to final decision - rejection, wondering when/if this is really true.

No, I had been "Applicant in Progress" for a long time (months) and switched to "Applicant in Process" 2-3 weeks ago. I don't think I ever entered "Application is in progress"

I interviewed on 2/5 and my status is "decision pending" as well...

I guess I'll give admin a call tomorrow

anyone with a 2/22 "final decision" status change and an additional correspondence tab get a packet yet??

Just booked my interview - Afternoon of March 18th at the Chicago campus. (Scheduling system had been down the last few days) They had 16 slots (8 AM / 8 PM) available for 3/18, 3/22, and I think two more dates at Chicago. They also had 8 slots at Peoria on on 3/18 (I think, could have been 3/22). Good luck everyone!

Congrats and thanks for letting us know!

Has anyone recently gotten their acceptance package? I've been anxiously waiting for mine but I'll prob get it later than most since I'm in California.

Just got my 3rd no decision made email. YEEHAW
Since I interviewed MD-PhD my application for MD just went under review and I got the same message...sucks that you've gone through it 3 times. At least they're not rejecting you. I hope I don't have to wait until June for a response from this school's MD program :-(

I was about to call admin about my "decision pending" status but received an email from admin saying that my application was still under review and that a final decision would be made by June.

Can't complain about still being considered but it would be nice to know soon...

Does anyone know the total interviews invitation and the acceptance for OOS applicants?

I got like 7 of those. I interviewed in early October and was accepted late April or early May.

Hang in there.

I suppose it is comforting that no matter what we have made it halfway. No more than 3 no final decision emails.

I just scheduled my interview, today. I'm excited to get my interview over with, but not the wait.

Just got my acceptance package in the mail. (Im from California)

Had additional correspondence tab + final decision, but instead of a fat packet I received a skinny rejection letter today!

I wonder if its a system glitch? ...feels bad, man 🙁

1) My condolences, know too well how it feels to get rejected. I reapplied this year and got in (but not at UIC), so good luck.

2) Rejection after an interview? Or before? If it's after I don't feel so bad about my annoying decision pending status.

Rejection post interview with the additional correspondence + final decision status.

Don't know what happened. In-state, 37R/3.72 from an Ivy :scared:

luckily I've had other acceptances at some good schools. Just wanted some of that in-state love (and tuition!)

Wow, that sucks BIG time...have you called the admissions office? Perhaps it IS a glitch. Your stats are pretty solid.

Just got my acceptance package in AZ! Does anyone know if there are Chicago campus slots available still?

I applied for Chicago and got the UPR track. That doesn't necessarily mean anything but it seemed to be the trend for most people for the last round of acceptances.

During my interview it seemed like the students who didn't choose the UPR track all applied late, so priority is definitely given to the earlier acceptances.

This complicates my situation, because I'm not going here if I have to move from Chicago because not moving is the best thing UIC has going on for me.

Accepted in December and placed in UPR so idk how they make their decisions

It just depends if there is space at the time you send in your track preference. I applied for Chicago, got UPR and then saw on here someone else got Chicago when they got accepted the next month. As people drop the acceptance here, I imagine some Chicago slots will open up.

Hopefully! I understand that UIC is really big and how having multiple campuses allows for that, but the additional layer of where will I go after going through the admissions process isn't super fun.

So has anyone applying to the UMED or GMED programs heard back about interviews for those programs?

Do they have scholarships for OOS acceptees? To give in-state tuition?

Yes. The Sweeney merit scholarship is given every year to some number of students (I think in the 10-20 range), and for OOS winners it gives in-state tuition.

Has anyone already received this scholarship!? I was told they would start the selection process on Jan

Are there any current students in Urbana or Rockford? I'm wondering what life is like in both of these areas. I've heard that Urbana is super college-y and Rockford is kind of dangerous... can anybody speak to/debunk these stereotypes?

For Rockford, is it possible to fill up a schedule with rotations in/closer to Chicago so that you can live in/closer to Chicago?

While I'm not a med student there, I can speak to what life is like in Urbana a little because I went there for undergrad. The "college-ey" description you heard is likely more a case of someone lumping champaign in with Urbana. The campus is technically U of I Urbana-Champaign, but they are VERY different towns, and the med school building lies on the Urbana side of campus. While on a Saturday morning in champaign you'll find beer cans and food scraps littering the streets from the drunk kids the night before, in Urbana, it's a very quiet, homey sort of place. It's much more liberal, and there's more of a music and food scene than in champaign. Generally, I think it'd be a great place to be able to balance a social life with the rigor of med school. The hospital system there is also pretty huge. I know there were some people in my extended family that went down there from the Chicago area for some procedures because they could not be done up here. As far as Rockford, I've heard the same thing that you have, and every M2 I know that has done the urbana track has gone to peoria haha. Anyway, feel free to message me if you have any more questions. I hope this helps!

Does anyone have any insight as to what these status changes mean? I called admissions yesterday and they said that I passed the first reviewer, and my status changed to "applicant in process" after having been "in progress" since november. I was so excited, but after reading the past few posts, there's apparently some other combination of "applicant/application (is) in process/progress" out there. Could anyone help me out here? I'm sorta freaking out. :scared:
