Weird OOS, as I am originally from Michigan. URM, 3.6, 34
Does anyone know if merit scholarships are given out at the time of acceptance or in the spring?
Not until the spring. Robert Ruiz said they wait until they see where else people have been accepted (i.e. until March 15), and they use merit scholarships to try to entice people who have other competitive offers.
M1 here. I also know of students who received increases in their scholarship funding after confirming their attendance at U of M and without contacting admissions or financial aid - I'm aware of "spontaneous increases" of up to $15K per year. Presumably funds are freed when some applicants with scholarship offers choose to go elsewhere, and this pool is redistributed amongst the other applicants and confirmed attendees. So while one goal of the scholarship funding is recruitment, another seems to be a genuine desire to support students in developing their careers with reduced or even eliminated financial pressure. Otherwise why would they award more scholarship funding to students who are already committed to attend?
ACCEPTED!!!!! 😀😀
First acceptance so I'm super happy/excited/emotional!!!
If I get one more freaking twitter chat email I think I'm going to explode...

I just assume every email is "twitter chat. We like to torment your email." or "hi, we sense the forums are getting restless, it's time to email them that we are still reviewing applications."If I get one more freaking twitter chat email I think I'm going to explode...

if i ever get an ii, i'll likely not believe it the first 100 times i read it while i search for the chat date and time.
Yes, I was under review for a month, and have been under "Application Screening Completed" status for about two months now. I can't remember the exact wording right now, but it is something like, "We are unable to offer you an interview at this time. Your file remains open and eligible for additional review.."
Interview invite today! Very excited!! But when i log onto my status page I get a dropdown menu of dates but there are no dates/ the only option is 'select a date'.... Help! is anyone else having this issue??
I got an Interview Invite today! So for anyone else with this status, there is hope! I submitted an update a couple weeks ago, maybe that had an impact on my application status.

Just interviewed here on Friday and it was The.Best.Interview.Day.Ever. Gonna be pretty crushed if I don't get in, after they spent so much time and effort making me fall in love.
according to the interview schedule, Feb 8th is an MSTP day and Dec 14th is a regular MD day.....did you switch? or do you think they are just mixing it up....I am starting to think that those without II are pretty much out of the running at this point......This actually happened to me today:

An MSTP interview day just means it's one of the days that they will be interviewing MSTP applicants, not that all applicants interviewed that day are MSTP applicants. There will be both.
February! Probably the last day since it's just MD
Not sure if Michigan is still giving out interviews any more, but are they receptive to letters of interest?
Top choice, but I've been complete since early September with the "File Complete - Under Review" status, and I've heard nothing :/
Anybody else that was deferred and totally stressed about Friday? Ughh![]()

Is that when the deferred decision comes out? Tomorrow?
Yep, their Twitter says:
Those MD applicants who interviewed and have "Defer" decisions will get an update, via status page, on Friday, Dec. 21/4 p.m. Eastern.
They are not receptive and they are still giving out interviews. You can check their application tracker which just got updated today. About 42 more instate interviews and 30 more out of state interviews left.
just wondering, how do you know how many interviews are left?
