A couple of my friends living in Omaha got their notices on Mondays...

Waiting for this upcoming Monday is so distressing!!! Each second that ticks feels like eternity..

I actually got my acceptance on Saturday. It was a big envelope and it didn't come through in normal mail. But the mailman ringed my doorbell.

Good luck everyone! Has anyone started the UNMC med school class of 2017 thread yet?

And do you know if we get a second look weekend anytime soon?

No class of 2017 thread that I am aware of but I would definitely be interested in joining it! We also need to get a Facebook group going too!

On facebook there is a group called UNMC College of Medicine Class of 2017.

Oh! How I long to join this group!!

Anyone hear any news? My mailman just came and ... nothing...

Got the small envelope in the mail...congrats to all of you who got in, and good luck to those who haven't heard.

Adcoms meeting again this evening...

If previous year's thread proves correct - then our chances of acceptance is gradually diminishing if we don't hear back by this weekend...

Only a handful of acceptances are handed out in Feburary it seems...and by into March - you are looking at best into a waitlist.

That sucks.

This sounds dramatic. But they do hand out acceptances in March but maybe not as many. Sit tight. Still crossing my fingers for you!

y'all, i'm freaking out! i haven't heard anything and i feel that "no news is bad news." i'm IS, but i've been going to school in texas for the past 4 years. i don't have that good of an MCAT score and a 3.7. but my interview rocked! i interviewed jan 4.

what should i do....

tons of people get acceptances in february! I know a lot of people who have received their acceptance in feb in the past. theyre probably not even halfway through offering acceptances yet!

this is helpful :') seems like they started offering acceptances later this year too

I just talked to Gigi and she said that they are really close to being done. She said they should be fully complete the last week of February!!

Accepted yesterday. OOS, interviewed in mid-November. Good luck, everyone!

For those who have been accepted, have you received your UNMC username and password yet?

Nope. Didn't get mine either. But I remember talking to Janet and she said we should get it around a month or so. This was on the 20th or something. So probably around February 20th?

I got a letter about setting up an email account and starting the application for financial aid today. It's getting real.

I talked to Janet today and she said by mid-March, everyone should hear back.

Out of the 36 application they reviewed this week 5 got acceptance. Congratulation to those who got accepted this week!!!

Cool. Thanks.

He told me that this year is a lot more competitive than it has been in previous years (MCAT's very high). For the applicants reviewed this last week those that did not get accepted about half were put on hold and the other half were sent rejection letters. From what he said on the accepting the five, I don't think that's the norm for every week. In addition, from what I understand the wait list did not move very much last year so I don't think they're accepting as many people from the start like they have in previous years and as time goes on we will slowly see more people get accepted, but that is just what I think.

does anyone know how many people they have left to review/how many more acceptances they can give out?

Ummm....yikes! Haha. That does not sound good for me because I have a lackluster MCAT. At least you can get an inside scoop! I heard that about the waitlist last year as well. I knew someone who was fourth or fifth and did not end up getting in. I just want to be reviewed soon!

Rejected... Good luck to those still being considered and those starting this fall!

OOS rejected. I thought this was one of my strongest interviews and I really liked the school. Had my exit interview with Gigi yesterday and she said it mainly came down to my having no ties to the state of Nebraska and the committee not believing I would stay there after graduation. Not sure if she was just letting me down softly, but seems like a good idea to highlight any state ties if they accept update letters from us OOSers.

Rough stats: GPAs = 3.75; MCAT = 34.

That sucks. You have good stats...I hope you have better luck elsewhere.

Hey guys. Just got my acceptance. IS, low MCAT, high GPA. **** tons of research, medium amount of vol and clinical.

whats your mcat and gpa? when was your interview date?

Still waiting...hopefully there is some good news on the horizon. For those accepted--very happy for you. Good luck on your new adventures!

If you are in Omaha, please try some Amsterdam Falafel. That restaurant is the bomb (especially at 2am Saturday mornings) 🙂
