UNC could really improve things by even having a simple update page like ECU. I'm not asking for all out transparent data sharing like Michigan does, but just a few nuggets of info once in a while would be pretty nice. ..
 
Seeing as their whole admissions process has been "sort of silly"... 😉

I'm sending good vibes to everyone tonight, especially the poets in the thread. I hope we get some good news after waiting all this time. :luck:

ETA: I think I am at 14 or so weeks now.

I'm there abouts as well. I think I interviewed 11/14 or 11/13.
 
Don't get me wrong, I love UNC, it's my top choice for med school, and if I have to re-apply, it will be for next year too, but the least they could do is tell those of us that interviewed 3+ months ago what the deal is, I mean we've been working out whole lives for this...
 
I hear ya! I do know someone who got the call tonight, but sadly that person was not me. And the wait continues....what's another few weeks after 21 weeks of silence...?
 
Got the call yesterday/today. Interviewed in January. 😀

Congrats!!! Do you mind sharing the date of your interview and who your interviewers were? Just curious. thanks!
 
Does anyone know if UNC announces acceptances only through a phone call or also through mail? I've heard that sometimes they send out acceptances in the mail without calling the person first, but I don't know if that is true.

Acceptances are always communicated through snail mail in the form of an acceptance packet. It is customary that an admitted applicant's committee representative calls them to share the good news; however, some do not and an applicant doesn't they've been accepted until they get the packet in the mail.

Normally calls are made the day of the committee meeting or a day or two after. The packets take 1-2 weeks to arrive.

Well this week didn't seem very busy, only one person posted an acceptance in this thread at least. Last meeting there were six people posting acceptances in this thread. Obviously not everyone posts on SDN when they get in, or maybe it just so happened that last meeting more SDN-posters got accepted than usual.

Just trying to keep the thread alive...while I compulsively check my mail.
 
I've been stalking the mailman all week but he hasn't brought any fat white envelopes. Looking through some past threads, there are probably about 2 committee meetings left from which they will give out acceptances. After that we'll all be waitlisted or rejected. I'm surprised this past week was as quiet as it was given how behind people are saying the are this year. Going to try calling the office on Monday and getting some actual information- it's the least they can do given that I interviewed 22 weeks ago.
 
I am guessing there is a thread or a place for this topic, so I would really appreciate it if someone could direct me to the right place. Is there a thread for people looking for housing/roommates, etc? Thanks!

I was accepted this week. I didn't get the call, I got an acceptance package in the mail. I interviewed over 2 months ago.

Do you know if we are supposed to accept the offer via snail mail? I didn't receive any online communication and i'm still awaiting the packet!

Haha I don't blame you. I saw from your profile you got into four schools which is awesome! Have you decided where you gonna go yet?
 
Does anyone know if the AdCom ever gets in touch with references we put in the AMCAS application? Supervisors, professors, mentors, recommenders, etc?

I know some schools do, but haven't heard much about UNC on this front.

Anyone get a phone call? I've been thinking about it all day. I was presenting a powerpoint at work today when I felt my phone vibrate. I stopped mid presentation and checked. In my mind, I was going to have the conversation in front of everyone and high five everyone in the room and do a victory lap around the lab. It was my mom, so I sent it to voicemail. I was sad.

They usually call between 6 and 9pm
