I've finally gotten my net id and password (there were issues since I had taken classes one summer at UTC?), but I can't see anything regarding my financial aid status in banner. I thought we were supposed to go in there and accept it? I've filled out the FAFSA, and I put UTHSC on it. Am I just rushing things?

I admit I could just be a little inpatient, but I got accepted back in the fall.

Quick question. Can someone speak to the curriculum? Is it block scheduling where there are 3-4 weeks of class and then a week of tests? Or non blocks where all the tests are spread out? I don't recall from my interview day.

I believe they're spaced out from what I remember my M1 bud saying. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

More info is available in my MD apps synopsis of UT toward the bottom.

We usually go about 3-4 weeks then have a test. With the new curriculum, we don't have a week of tests (like they used to). We just have one cumulative assessment over that block, between 100 and 125 questions.

Thank you for elaborating!

Received an II on 4/7. Already committed to ETSU and prefer its more rural-based curriculum so I've declined to interview. In case this applies to anyone else - I accidentally turned in some of my secondary paperwork late, and I had assumed that my application had been thrown out because of it. However it seems they just moved me to the very bottom of the stack. So if anyone else made that mistake, they're getting to us now!

:hello:
Congrats on the commitment!

They asked me to interview on 4/22.

Interesting. That's what I thought (gave you ~two weeks notice).

According to this, their scheduled days ended today:

Maybe they are having a higher number people than expected turn them down and need to schedule extra interviews.

That said, has anyone who has interviewed in literally the last 5 weeks had any morsel of communication back from them in any form?

I interviewed on tues. 4/9 and they said they were interviewing until the end of the month. The WL will be ranked about a week or so after that.

I have only received a letter that said no final decision had been made and that final decisions would be made by April 19, with a letter mailed no later than May 3. Still waiting.

Has anyone who interviewed in April heard back yet?

Can any current students comment on the amount of interaction between UTHSC students and St. Jude?

Is it common for students to volunteer, participate in research, (or more?) there?

We asked extensively about this during my interview: They have full cooperation with St Jude. They're very open to accepting students into their labs for summer research (and if you're stout enough to finagle it, during the semester). I believe they also have several UTHSC graduates on faculty.

I received the same letter. So if a final decision is being made April 19, does that mean we will have a specific spot on the waitlist (if wait listed) by this date?

Has anyone who originally got the "no final decision" letter received another letter yet? Waitlist?

I wondering the same Tenn. I haven't heard any news since my "no decision".

Just now stumbled on this website. Wish I would have found it earlier in my process. Accepted on February 6th to UTHSC. Looking forward to meeting some of you. Gonna be staying on Mud Island.

STATS:
UT-Knoxville (In-state) Student with a 3.55/3.82/3.65 GPA (BCPM/AO/Total)
Scored a 8-11-9-N (didnt care about the essay lol).

How many people do you think go straight from UT-K to UTHSC after graduating? I imagine you aren't the only one.

I imagine quite a few students do. I don't know of many this year, but that may be because I am in a not-so- traditional major. I know of quite a few coming in on the next cycle. I feel it is a little easier for UT system students to get into UTHSC.

I e-mailed the Admissions office last week concerning this issue. I hope this calms your nerves a bit....

Diane,

I have recently been made aware of the extension of the College of Medicine's interview season to the end of this month. In the last letter that I received from your office, I was told that a final decision would be made on my candidacy no later than April 19th. In light of the extended application cycle, will a decision still be made by this date? As always, I appreciate you and Nelson for putting up with anxious young applicants like myself.

Best wishes,

Carey

I'm currently a lab assistant at St. Jude, and I did a research internship last fall that I'll be doing again this summer. Plenty of M1s also decide to do this internship (called the POE program) their first summer, and it's a great opportunity. I also see medical and graduate students from UT roaming the halls regularly. I'd say there are definitely tons of opportunities to do research & shadow here if you go to UT & are interested.

No, I'm a student at Rhodes in Memphis. I'm looking forward to UT medical. Hopefully I get in. I think I should find out next week or so?

How painful must they make this....

I was accepted back in November and submitted my FAFSA at the end of March, which is later than their priority deadline, I know. Haven't heard anything from the financial aid office. Tried calling, left a message, emailed, no response. Has anyone gotten an award letter (and when did you submit your FAFSA)? Do we know if they will all be sent out before May 15th? Thanks

If you applied for scholarships, idk anything about that. But if you're just looking for loans, you have a lot of time before you have to do that. I filled mine out at the end of July and didn't have any problems.

Does anybody have more information on the possibility of completing the last two years in Nashville? I know there's Chattanooga and Knoxville but I remember Mr. Strother saying something about Nashville.

You should do it in Knoxville anyway. Way better.

I remember him saying the rotations would be at Baptist Hospital. I don't remember what specialties they have available there, but I live in Nashville, and Baptist seems pretty small. Then again, I haven't been to Baptist.

As of right now, Nashville rotations are limited, so doing your entire last 2 years in Nashville is not an option at this time; however, the school is in the process of expanding in Nashville, so in the next couple years, it may be possible to complete your entire 2 years in Nashville.

Currently, you can rotate through Internal Medicine in Nashville. If you have a preceptor in the Nashville community then you can also do an outpatient Family Medicine month as well. From what I understand, there is a six year plan to expand more clinical sites in Nashville - adding surgery, ob/gyn, and peds among others. Not sure how soon the expansion will take place...That being said, it is a wonderful opportunity to be able to rotate through multiple clinical sites (Chatt, Knox, Jackson, Nashville, Memphis).

I'm back on the thread guys. I was just (utterly unexpectedly) offered a substantial scholarship that may very well sway me back to TN. I'll be hitting Memphis this weekend for a second look and to hopefully take a gander at Phi Chi if they haven't already doled out all of the rooms.

Anyone gotten their final decision letter that was mailed on the 7th?

Just got the mail. Literally still no letter. Whyyyyyy
