I got the blue check marks sometime this afternoon. I submitted on 9/20. So, what's the post-blue check mark wait time? Another month? I assume they still hand out rejections after the blue check marks?

Anyone know if thank you notes should be sent to the admissions office or to interviewer's address?

Yes, some people have been rejected (via snail mail) post secondary, some have been placed on a hold status, and others have been invited to interview. It appears that the turnaround time is a few weeks after the blue check marks and you end up in one of those three categories.

So if I have received the automated email saying that I am still being considered for an interview does that mean that I'm on hold?
I completed the secondary back in July. The email never said 'pre-interview hold'

anyone received an interview invite with the secondary, with the stipulation that the secondary be completed two weeks before the chosen interview date?

That's what they did last year. This year only 20% of applicants get a secondary, then maybe half of those people get interviews.

Yeah, I guess "hold" is not the exact term. I think you are still being actively considered for an interview with each of the new applications that come in.

You can send them to the admissions office and they will forward them on to your interviewers.

anyone know how receptive vanderbilt is to letters of interest/intent?

Has anyone gotten any post interview news, good or bad? They are allowed to release the info on the 16th and the website says they tell the first people that are accepted on the 19th. I haven't seen anyone with any news

they said at the interview they'd start mailing out decisions on the 16th. so, i'm guessing by the slowness of USPS, things should start arriving today/tomorrow/Monday?

That's what I remember them saying as well. Although in previous years the Dean would call those who were accepted, while those who were waitlisted/put on hold/rejected had to wait for the mail notification. They may be doing things differently this year since they changed their admissions process...who knows.

Is every applicant's confirmation email of their submitted secondary application sent by [email protected]? I find it odd that this message was sent by an "interview" email. Gosh I'm dying to get an interview invite here.

Since no one else has volunteered to break the silence, I got the acceptance call tonight at about 5 pm! 😀

Accepted! Got the call in the last hour (don't know for sure...was at the gym for an hour and I got a voice mail at that time).

And my phone paranoia has now increased 1000%... I would LOVE to go to this school! :xf:

CONGRATULATIONS to the both of you!!

Mine was sent from this email and I have blue check marks as of Mon or so but no II yet, complete 9/11ish. I think the email address may be an artifact of previous years where all who got a secondary were interviewed, not the case this year but the infrastructure may remain the same. As far as I can tell it doesnt mean anything good or bad other than whats in the emails themselves of course.

Thanks all! Interviewed 9/17

Congrats to those who were accepted! Start planning on coming here for the second look weekend! It's guaranteed to be a blast! Share you good news with your hosts, if you had one here. They would love to hear this!
For those still waiting, sit tight. Game just started. Phone calls will go out periodically every Friday, or occasionally on Sundays. Good luck!

Accepted. Missed the call at 5 while I neurotically refreshed this thread.

Congrats to all those with acceptances!!

I interviewed the week of 10/8 and received a call earlier this afternoon!! <3 I am so grateful <3

Hey guys, my primary application was complete in June but heard nothing from Vandy since then (no secondary or rejection). I have several publications came out recently. Is it worthwhile to send an update to them now? I wonder whether it will still be considered at this time. Thanks.

I just want to second everything Ixz has said. Congratulations to all who have just been welcomed to the Class of 2017! Second Look in April is a fantastic weekend with so many opportunities to interface with your future classmates and current students. It is, without a doubt, what sealed the deal for me in coming to Vanderbilt Med.

To those still waiting, just hang in there. Med school apps are one of the longest, hardest processes most of us will have gone through at this point in our lives. Most importantly, don't dig into the minutiae of why you have not yet heard word from admissions. It only makes you more stressed out!

In previous years, Vandy has accepted updates at any time. With the changes in the process this year, I'm not sure how that has or has not changed. I'd recommend giving the admissions office a quick call on Monday to find out. They're really friendly and will be happy to give you an answer!

I was fortunate enough to have received a voicemail notifying me that I've been accepted and I'm absolutely pumped!!

However, now that I've been accepted, do I need to write/email or call the admissions office acknowledging the offer? I haven't received an actual letter in the mail yet so I'm not sure what to do. Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The letter will contain instructions on how to accept or decline your seat in the upcoming class. If you are still worried, you can give the admissions office a call.

Congrats to all those with acceptances! Seems like a wonderful place!

And if you would be so kind as to advise ( or validate ) a paranoid applicants worries, I have received two of the "We are still considering your application" emails now post-secondary and feel like some further action is necessary but I don't know how to proceed without seeming pushy. I have written in response to the status emails now, but received no response back. Would a call be appropriate? Thanks!

Ahh the blue check marks.... Sweet relief! Sent in the secondary on 9/24

I emailed Dean Zic "accepting" my offer. He passed it on to Pat Sagen in the admissions office, and she emailed me and said the letter would have more info on starting the background check process.

Not so sure about that. I was complete September 3rd. and still haven't heard anything... I'm hoping this is a good sign.

When did you interview?? I'm so nervous! I think my interviews went well, but I just want to know if I got in already! haha i loved this school so much, definitely my top choice!

Has anyone from Limbo received a secondary invite recently? I know that a bunch of people have said that they were just waiting...got the "received" email on 9/18--anyone earlier than that hear back either way?

(I'm trying to figure out whether there's still a chance that I'll get a secondary or if they're just not rejecting me quickly. I've been checking the mail and still nothing.)

II!!!! 3.85/36Q OOS. complete 9-1. So excited, this is my first big interview.

Just decided to get in on the SDN craziness...

Interview invite yesterday as well!

Anyone have insights into the interview process? If anyone is familiar with Dr. Walter Frontera, I would appreciate any input on him as well. He seems to be a very prominent figure.

I think Vandy was my most relaxed interview day. Both of my interviewers were very conversational ridiculously interested in me. Your long interview will be open-file (my interviewer was very familiar with my app, a nice surprise) and last around 45 min-1 hr, IIRC. The short interview is completely closed file, and lasted about 30 minutes or so. The short interview included a couple interview-style questions (but also lots of conversation), but the long interview was more of a let's-just-get-to-know-you sort of conversation. Very low-pressure.

Maybe it was never having visited the South before, but I was shocked by how nice everyone on campus was (faculty and students). If you have time to, explore some of the campus too. Good luck!
