Anyone know how often they send out acceptances? Have not read anyone saying they've been accepted lately...

Remember they told us at our interview no news is good news at this point!

Just interviewed today! Beautiful campus, warm students, and a welcoming staff. I feel this school really follows through with their mission and values.
For those still waiting on interviews, I believe it was said today that there are 2 more groups left to be interviewed, whether the group has already been chosen is beyond me.
For those waiting on decisions, FIU does not have to accept students from a group of interviewees. In other words, all of the interviewed applicants enter a pool of ranked applicants that had previously interviewed. Some of the top ranked students will get accepted each time. Theoretically, if everyone in your group ranks really well, many can get an acceptance call soon. They will move through this list as the season go on. And if you did not meet a certain amount of points you will be rejected, unfortunately. In other words, there is a cut off for entering that "ranked" pool.
Best of luck to everyone!

Average MCAT, above average GPA, IS and complete sometime in August for those wondering.

For our interview class they said that and we've seen no acceptances for our dates... So will see
FIU please call!!! Out of the whole process this is definitely the worst part, just waiting and waiting not knowing what your life is going to be like in 6 months, if your plans are going to work out or not...

Totally agree!

Do they send out an email to let people know if they were accepted, alternate listed, or rejected? and when did you guys receive this news?
Yes an email. Today at 3:00 pm (alternate list, as well)

I also just received an alternate list e-mail. I interviewed on 1/10, OOS

pre-interview rejection today, complete 9/9 :sorry: i hope bad news comes in two's

For you guys on alternate I wouldn't worry since FIU doesn't have a deposit requirement and I'm sure a lot of applicants are just holding on to their acceptance until the very end. According to last year's thread, there was waitlist movement and everyone that wanted to get in seemed to have a spot.

But I think this means that all interview invites have been given out :arghh:. Ahhh well.

Good luck to everyone on the waitlist, I'm sure those that want to get in will 😉

So they interview 600 or 400 I forgot? And I just went through and didn't see any denials after interviews so that's how many are on wait list...

Me too. I picked 2/24 as it was my only option...and my plane ticket cost ~$450. I'm even flying to Ft. Lauderdale to save money.
Is there a student host program? If not, would any current student be willing to host me?! Pleeeeaaaasee. At this point in the interview process my bank account is drained, but I've had my eye on FIU since I was complete in August.

I come with gifts, a free dinner, and no trouble 🙂

Not officially. Email the admin and they will circulate a message 🙂

I received a call from the Director of the Financial Aid dept yesterday, 2/14. To my complete and utter shock they offered me a full ride 4 year diversity scholarship for tuition!! Before I received this news I was planning on matriculating at USF but HELLOOO FIU! Anyone else definitely attending?
28/3.65... And a socioeconomically diverse background, first gen college grad. Unvelievable. I feel like I just won the lottery!
Good luck to those of you still in limbo!!!

Congrats! Did you already fill out FAFSA prior to the offer?

Yes I filled out the FAFSA but the diversity scholarship requires a 1 page narrative and application submission with the essay. I'm not even sure if my FAFSA has been processed yet, I filled it out a couple of weeks ago.
Anyone have any suggestions on nice places to live in the area? I'm looking for a neighborhood no farther than 15 in away from campus and somewhat centrally located. I'd like to find a duplex or small cottage as I'm not too inclined to apartment complex living. Ideas??

Doral is the nicest area within 15 minutes from the medical school. It is not centrally located, but you can get to major highways very easy so it's not much further from the east side of Miami than other places with heavier traffic/less access to the highways. Nice areas more centrally located are all more than 15 minutes away (i.e. Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, etc.) due to traffic.

Had you already been accepted before you received this diversity scholarship?
