2013-2014 Georgetown University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Interviewed in late November and still waiting for a decision 🙁 GU says it's running a little behind.

That's too bad.... They told those who interviewed in mid-December that we should be hearing back in early February. I hope that still holds... I'm really hoping to get some good news from them!

I interviewed in mid-December. Ms. Sullivan told my interview group that if we didn't hear back by Feb 2 to email her. I hope this is still true.

When I called, they said it would be closer to the tenth week post-interview until my interview group heard back. They also said that in some cases, it could be longer than ten weeks 🙁 I really hope I get good news soon!

Withdrew from MD/PhD program consideration today. Hopefully one of you gets that spot! :xf:

Hi all - I cannot remember the name of my interviewer. He is the past dean of the school... and in writing my letter to G-town, I would like to reference my conversation with him. Anyone know how I should go about this?

How do you see GT update email? I logged in to my portal and it says application not submitted.

Has anyone who interviewed in mid-December received a decision yet?

I received an email that says: "A decision has been made regarding your application to the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Please log in to your secondary application to find your decision."

Yet, when I log in it says application status: not submitted.

Am I the only one? So lost.

Hi everybody! I was just wondering if any of you who are currently in the CAP have heard anything? I saw that someone was accepted out of the CAP in December, but thought maybe that was an exception. Anyway, does anyone know when they typically start digging into it? Thanks! 🙂

got my first rejection from Georgetown (about a week ago)... and it hurt

Well, it sounds like decisions are about to be rolled out at Georgetown. Anxiously awaiting the news, but hoping for the best.

For anyone else that has interviewed here, does anyone know who we should address a thank you note to if we are mailing it. Should I put c/o Anne Sullivan or c/o my interviewer?

Any recommendations for hotels to stay in??

Anyone know if Georgetown is finished Interviewing?
I received an II on 2/3 for the week of March 13, and when I asked if I could interview the following Monday to avoid missing finals, I was told that they were not interviewing after that week.

Has anyone heard back post-interview lately? If so when did you interview?
From calling them earlier in the month, I think people should be hearing back this week and next. Many decisions have been made, but the person who communicates these decisions to students has been out... I'm not quite sure what is going on, but just know that there is a backlog of decisions that still need to be communicated to students.

I know the GT forum is usually not too responsive, but I'll give it a try again.. has anybody been able to submit the 'hold the seat' deposit yet?

Never mind--question has been answered

Have you been accepted? I know only those who were accepted officially can put down a deposit. If so, you should have been able to do it right away, or once you received your further info

I interviewed in mid-December. I emailed Mrs. Sullivan directly 2 weeks ago. She said that my decision was mail last week and to expect it this week.

Huh, what date did you interview?

Yes, I have been accepted but in the acceptance email they said specifically: 'You must submit a deposit of $500 by June 1, 2014. Please note that the School of Medicine will not accept deposits until January 2014. The Office of Admissions will notify you when deposits are being accepted."
So far I have not heard from them that they are accepting the deposit, so I wonder if everyone else accepted is in similar situation.

Got an email today about paying the deposit and making a student account.

Is there a way to find the secondary application link? My computer history got messed up so I cannot access it to check my application status.

Interviewed here recently. Went great. Hoping to get in!! What are the chances of getting accepted? I had a fourth year student. Anyone get accepted with a fourth year interviewer?

really hoping to hear off the CAP list soon - anyone know of recent movement off of that?

I interviewed on 12/17.
Ok, I'm confused. I interviewed on 12/19... I thought it went really well, but maybe I'm just getting a rejection letter. That would be tough... My fiance is interviewing at University of MD for PhD program, and I'm pretty sure she'll get in. Georgetown was at the top of my list for several reasons, but the opportunity for us to stay together was the deal-breaker. Getting nervous.

Hi HamsterHuey I interviewed on 12/19 as well. Still have not heard, but I am pretty sure they are just behind on getting out the decisions. Hopefully we will here back in the next few days. Good luck!

why are some "mailed" while others are emailed...

So I tried to follow the instructions sent to us by the school:
"Visit http://hoyamail.georgetown.edu for information about and access to Hoyamail, your student e-mail account". Have you guys been able to get to this website? I keep getting an error message.

If you click the google apps link you should be able to sign in using your GU NetID. I think if you log onto the secondary website there are instructions under post-submissions tab to set up your NetID and create a password, etc.

I have my netID and I already changed my password. This link above is specifically to get to school email. Were you able to get there?

Hmm, that's strange -- I was able to at work but it isn't loading from my home computer. Not a browser issue - used Chrome for both. If you just google Hoyamail, I believe you can access it at http://apps.georgetown.edu/
