2013-2014 Stanford University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Oh wow. So if there's only been ~180ish, then they still have a significant number to give out...

Well you also have to remember that a few of the future dates are probably all booked. How many of them, I have no clue. But I would think at least 2-3 more dates have been filled by now.

womp womp... you're totally right. I think I'm hopeful they haven't been filled yet because winter holiday season is coming up.... in any case, nemo123, you are so informative. i really appreciate your presence on these forums 🙂

Thanks lalalapartay! Btw I just wanted to say that I really like your SDN handle. Don't know why, but it sounds good lol.

I think all December dates have been filled by this point (I know someone who got an interview invite about 2.5 weeks ago and the only date available was mid-December), so I would presume they are into January dates.

6th was November 13th. 7th and last one for the year December 9th. I don't think they fill up very fast.

Edit: 8th is December 18th. That's the last one this year

Really? I think the person I know was given December 18 as her interview day..... Btw, thanks for looking it up on the calendar for us!

Yep, I edited, accidentally missed that one. And no problem. Looking at the entire calendar, looks like there will be 450 interviews this year

Thanks so much for this! Guess there are about 7 interviews left open then. So about 200 invites left. Hopefully. :xf:

And there was no December 5/6th right? The person I know said she wanted to move it to toe December 5/6th because she was going to be interviewing at UCSF around then.

200 more -- that's so promising! Keeping the hope alive, thanks for the info guys!

Hi all,

In case it applies to any of you. If the interview dates ar not convenient for you, don't be afraid to rearrange with Stanford admission office (surely in advance). My original interview date was Nov, but I postphoned it to January. I don't think the time of interview matters that much.

I'm not sure what's worse, the month-long wait to get MCAT scores or the wait to hear a decision post-interview.

Waiting for a decision is definitely worse. I'm losing sleep over this. I need to know!!

You guys will be fine! Have faith in the process, and things like this are definitely not worth losing sleep over. 😉

Ah, I was meaning to ask from your post a few days earlier -- did Stanford ever reply to your ITA with a confirmation or anything?

Nope they don't seem to looking from previous threads. Did you send an ITA email to them too? Basically what I read is that if you send an ITA email to them, they'll expedite your application review process and if they like you, you will get an interview invite in your mailbox fairly quickly. If not, it'll be crickets until that rejection letter comes in the mail. :/ Though, since there's a new director, things might run differently this year.

Try sending one! It can't hurt since they told me they're pretty receptive to them.

To those already accepted (such as Nicco & Techerguy), have you gotten anything in the mail from Stanford?

Phone calls saved for next week?

Did anyone get an interview invite this morning or lately?

Anyone get an interview invite this morning?

Any one? At this rate, is Stanford even going to be interviewing anyone next year? No one has posted that they got an interview invite recently!

I know we're all anxious, but you need to calm down. Any one who had news would have posted by now; prompting again probably won't change that.

Haha sorry about that. Sometimes, I find that some people don't post about their interview invites until I start posting whether anyone has gotten one lately. But it is awfully quiet on SDN this year. 🙁

Anyone know if Stanford waits till later to send out rejections? Complete early Aug and have heard nothing.

I called. They wouldn't tell me when they're sending pre-interview rejections this year, but basically they said lots of applicants have been rejected at this point and all Stanford needs to do is notify them. From what it sounds like, they'll be sending them after their interview seasons ends (in March).

Thanks. I wish schools would let us know earlier. I remember LizzyM saying that top schools send rejections late just in case a VIP or benefactor of the school wants them to interview someone.

10/16ers, here's to another week of knowing exactly what time it is in California. May your phone ring with good news soon! :luck:

Good luck you guys! You guys deserve lots of happy phone calls from Dean Garcia!

Great. I just need to meet someone on the AdCom and remind them that I haven't gotten an interview. Should be easy enough. Or I can just make a "sizable donation".
