Interview Invite today! I was also placed on hold a few weeks ago, so this was a nice surprise :soexcited:

Interview Invite =) Kinda burning out from all of these interviews though, and i hear UCSD's MMI's are not a walk in the park either.

I thought ucsd's mmi was fun/not intense. Then again I got wait listed.

It'll be my first MMI so I'm a bit nervous, but there's lots of time to practice!

II today! Super excited for this... UCSD is one of my top schools 😀

I wish a school that had MMIs would just invite me so I can know what it's like to experience one first-hand. They can reject or waitlist me after (Idc)

Congrats to everyone who's getting II's after being put on hold. But it makes me feel sad because I feel like my chances of getting an II after being put on hold is now pretty slim :'(

Yes!!! I'm so happy for you 🙂

Hey pyrrion89! What happened to your mdapp page?! I loved reading about your experiences!

I thought the same thing...wait-listed too!
However, I enjoyed the interview day so much that this is definitely a top choice! I just wish we could know final decisions sooner! :/

Seriously. May 15 and they don't want any updates until then either...

Are letters of interest/updates accepted at UCSD?

not until May, when they ask if you're still interested. And that's only if you're on the waitlist... Preinterview, they won't even read them.

Can no longer log on to my status page. Does that mean a rejection is forthcoming?

Yeah same here. End of the road!

I'm on the waitlist and I get the "the information you entered could not be validated" message too. I don't think it's an indication of rejection (at least I hope not since everyone on the waitlist is kept under consideration until May).

There is a message on the web site now, saying that the web site will not be available for a few hours this morning due to technical difficulties.

This message just appeared on the status log-on page:

"Due to technical difficulties, this website will be unavailable
for a few hours this morning, January 3, 2014.

We apologize for the inconvenience; please check back later."

And we are back in business, with no changes, at least for my status.

I just looked at your MDApps, I interviewed at UCSD (waitlisted) and Tufts too but didn't even get a secondary at UCLA. This process is crazy.

👍 Yeah I agree.

I'm in a similar situation with a friend. We both got UCSD II on the same day, were both waitlisted (though she interviewed a different day than I did), both had interviews at the same other school, but she got the UCSF secondary (and later ii) whereas I was rejected pre-secondary. Unpredictable results, even among relatively similar applicants.

Has anyone received an interview for UCSD's PRIME-Heq program?

I received the II for PRIME-Heq within 30 min to the "regular" UCSD II. It's not clear to me if there is a separate interview for PRIME or if the MMI interview is different for PRIME applicants and non-PRIME applicants. If anyone can clarify that will be helpful.

I only got one II email. It said that it would like to interview me for admission to the UCSD SOM and that they would like to interview me for PRIME-HEq as well. The PRIME applicants did have a different MMI interview than non-PRIME applicants. We were separated from the non-PRIME applicants for most of the day.

I still haven't been put on hold or invited to an interview! Anyone else in the same boat?

Same here, complete mid November. For all practical purposes, I'm treating it as a hold.

yep, seconded
looks like it's working again. I didn't check it when you reported that it wasn't but now my status has a date filled in for the "Hold for Interview" spot. Before is was just filled with "--"

Is this what everyone else's not on hold looks like?

I am not sure which is 'better' - with a date or with "--".

Anyone interviewing here on 1/23?

Mine has a date, which matches the mass email we received when we were notified we were on "pre-interview hold." That also has been established as a "not good" thing, since very few will actually receive IIs from this batch, haha.

For those keeping track: interview invite, complete early November, IS, interview dates currently available are mid to late February.

Also, of those interview dates available in February there are ~65 spots open, so more IIs should be going out. Good luck to everyone!

Anyone know of any reasonably priced hotels withing 5 miles of the medical school that they would recommend? I'm also going to try staying with a student host, but dont know if there will be any availability. Any help will be appreciated.

As mentioned, the Sheraton on La Jolla Village Drive is the closest/reasonably priced. You may be able to find hotels a few miles out with better prices but then expect to need a cab, SD doesn't have very good mass transit, especially to La Jolla.

If you factor in the taxi cost, the Sheraton is probably cheaper. And it's a nice hotel. And it's within walking distance of the SOM.

What are the chances of receiving an interview if you were put on hold back in November and told that they would look at your file again late January?
