2013-2014 University of Hawaii Application Thread

So 2 more weeks to go until we hear from the admissions committee, or has anyone received any news yet? Trying to get distracted, but cannot help thinking about it and checking my email more often than I should. Time seems to pass slower than ever...

Does anyone know exactly what day we are supposed to hear back? Last year we knew ahead of time, but I don't remember how we knew.

Well the Wednesday after Match is the 24th. So probably that day..? =/

I think that's what I read on past forums of when decisions were emailed out

You mean Monday after match? Or should we hear back on wednesday? Is it worth calling?

My mistake. I mean the 26th, which is the Wednesday. I wish it were sooner! Not sure how it's going to work though since UH will be on spring break during that week but historically it seems that Wednesday after Match Day is the day decisions are sent out..

The day decisions were sent out usually fell the week before spring break but this year with the way March and Match are laid out, the day seems to be during spring break. So.. does that mean we will hear the week after break? That goes into April.

No, based on "file complete" email, I think decisions will be released in March.

OH MAN. Why can't they get back to us already..... I interviewed way back in August. It's been way too long. I guess I'll just obsessively keep checking my email.

The wait seems endless but we should be getting close to that day now. At least, that's what I am hoping for.

Me too. They definitely said they would let everyone know by March 31st. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Anyone know how many people interviewed? Statistically speaking, what are our chances? I'm OOS

Last year i was waitlisted and got the email on Mar 20, a Wednesday.

Ah I'm sorry man. Hopefully you get in this cycle. Do you have any idea on how the waitlist movement was? I'm more interested in Out of state, but I don't know what applies to you.

These last few days are the hardest. At one moment, I am excited that we'll hear soon, at the other I am worried that if I hear "too soon" it won't be the answer that I am hoping for (apparently last year reject letters were sent first, then wait-lists, and finally acceptances - but who knows what will be the order this year). I am optimistic, but nervous and caution too - all at the same time. What a state! 10 more working days in March. On one of those, we'll hear the results. Until then, I am trying to do my best to get as destructed as possible....

I imagine this is a typo, but it seems to accurately represent the waiting process.
Wednesday seems to be the day of the week decisions are posted. So either tomorrow or the 26th are it. Only Wednesdays left in March! 😱

The month of March has been an emotional roller coaster regarding JABSOM for me hahah
Why so the roller coaster?

Periods of anxiety about the decision then hope coupled with excitement followed with more anxiety and just wanting know my fate already.. Lol
Ah, general med school -pre-decision roller coaster then. I though JABSOM may have done something special to make things harder.

Nope just the run of the mill pre-med anxiety haha. It's just been a long process for JABSOM especially.
I know the feeling man. I was rejected outright last year, but at least this year I don't have to bet everything on JABSOM.

Nice right on. Yeah it's just the feeling of not knowing.. I have a back-up but JABSOM is my first choice, of course.

Where else are you also considering? Are you an in-state student? What makes JABSOM your first choice?

So is today the day? Did anyone hear anything yet?

Got wait-listed. In-state applicant. Email came at 10:07 this morning, HST.

rejected again, reapplicant 33/3.65 in state. ouch

Wow, congrats! Any other acceptances or schools you're deciding between?
As of now... This is my only acceptance. Waiting for responses for 3 schools. And interviewing one more this Monday.

ugh, rejected at 9:20 hst today. Interviewed over 6 months ago, talk about a long haul.

OOS, so on the bright side, they are saving me lots of $$$

Withdrawing my acceptance. Good luck!

Congrats to all who were accepted! For those on the wait-list, hang in there!

To those attending, what are your plans for housing?

Withdrawing my acceptance. Good luck guys!

Yea... just ended up being too costly.

Congrats to those with acceptances and those still in the running!

I would have posted sooner, but I've been mourning my break up with JABSOM.... =)

I'm OOS and interviewed in December.
Had three great interviews (or so I thought lol) and attended the PBL demo where I fell in love with the school........my toughest rejection.

Of those OOS and accepted, who all attended the PBL demo?

First, I am sorry to hear of your rejection, but hope you found another great school to attend!

I did not attend the PBL demo.

Of those who have said they are withdrawing acceptances, who is OOS? I'm trying to determine waitlist movement. Thanks!

I am OOS, but withdrew due to finances. (I figure most people who withdraw are OOS.)

Do u know how many OOS ii were extended? I didn't meet any another OOSers when I attended the campus tour, PBL demo, and interviews.

I'm curious what others thought of their interviews...
