2013-2014 University of Nevada Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Decisions are sent on the 15th of January, February, and March. So tomorrow hopefully we'll hear good news.

Oh... my thinking was that since they moved this first committee meeting up a few days, they'd do the same with sending out notifications. Here's hoping you're right, and I'm wrong.

Does anyone know if they are emailing answers this year or if they are only sending out letters? I looked in last year's forum and it seems like everyone heard something different.

So, during my interview, I asked one of the Director of Admissions this question and she said that they would both use email and mail for notifications of acceptance/rejection. She said, following a committee meeting, they email out the acceptances 1-2 days later and then rejections a day after that.

Has anyone heard anything today?
Not yet, but I'm constantly refreshing both this thread and my email! They've always said that they send out acceptances on the 15th of Jan/Feb/Mar, but they only started meeting on the 10th this year. Maybe they are going to wait a bit longer?

Has anyone asked admissions about what might be the situation?

I was really anxious to get an email or mail today. I hope it's just a delay, rather than the unfortunate

Has Anyone gotten an alternate list notice or a rejection (post-interview)?

Big ups to all who got accepted this go around! Please speak up if you're one of those lucky few and you're OOS. Also, knowing if anyone got rejected, though very sad for you (and I mean that sincerely), will certainly relieve the anxiety for those of us who are waiting to see if we're also on the chopping block haha.

Rejected! Hope this helps 🙂

I will try again next cycle!

Thanks 🙂 figure I'd make an acct and share so that people wouldn't constantly be refreshing to no new posts/updates!

Good luck to you too & everyone else waiting still!

Were you notified by email? Last Thursday (same day that the first acceptances went out)?

Just wondering if I should be all antsy still or if I get to relax until next month.

I got it through the mail. Well my mom did because I go to school out of state and she sent me a picture of the letter.

Did they update anything on your communication status saying they mailed you a letter? Sorry for all the questions I'm just nervous now lol.

Nope. Didn't get any update/follow-up! No worries! It was unexpected-- didn't think I would hear back so soon; I totally understand your nervousness.

In state.

Interview in the late November.
Accepted on 1/16/2014.

That's interesting that they're only mailing rejections and not also sending an email... I could have sworn they said they'd do both email and regular mail for all acceptances/waitlists/rejections. Ah well. Congrats to those who got in and best of luck to those who received less-than-satisfying news!

5 days and counting...
Wouldn't be so sure.
The 15th is a Saturday and the next Monday is President's Day. I asked Pat Romney if they would be going out before the weekend or after the weekend, she was under the impression that the notifications would not go out until they are back in the office on the 18th.
With that being said, it wouldn't be the first time that the office was misinformed. Let's cross our fingers for that.

Ignore me. Notifications for Out of State are going out today. Good luck!

"The committee has met and made decisions on the Out of State applicants. Letters will be going out today notifying applicants of the committee’s decision."

Hopefully when they say letters they mean emails too!
I'm anxious! Here we go!

Yeah, I would assume that is the case. It definitely seems like there has been a bit of miscommunication between the office and the committee about notification methods. I think that the office still assumes everything is done by paper because that is how it was done for so many years. But as we saw last month, "most" of the people that were accepted received an email before receiving the letter. Whereas the people who were waitlisted/rejected only received the letter.

Was that in an email?

Hopefully it goes without saying that anyone and everyone should post if/when they hear any sort of news. Good luck all!

OOS and interviewed here back in November. After January 15th, and only IS people responding, I figured that OOS hadn't even been considered. I have not heard anything yet either-- just to reinforce the idea that they might be seriously only mailing out letters.

I do find it silly though that they emphasized the Jan/Feb 15th review dates as being the highest caliber candidates will be considered in January... When it turned out it was just the IS/OOS consideration dates.

Does anyone know the order in which applications are being evaluated? They didn't address this on my interview day.

Thanks!

My friend was OOS and got accepted yesterday.

Welp, provided we can take ChemNerd on her word, and that Sparky's email response is legit, looks like the rest of us OOSers are out of luck... bummer. Congrats to those who have been receiving good news though!
