2013-2014 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I did that earlier, and it set up a live.unc.edu address for me, not the med.unc.edu address. I opened a ticket with ITS, and it looks like it has been forwarded to the hospital IT.
Did you get this worked out? Is this the only way to get the med.unc.edu address? After talking to IT, the registrar, and admissions I finally got my ONYEN established.

There's still an open ticket with the hospital IT. I can log in under my @live.unc.edu account though.

Hopefully, that's good news because it means you'll receive news via snail mail.
Though this is also wishful thinking coming from someone who has yet to hear back also.

Is the thought here that snail mail would be an acceptance package? I just need to know so I can stop checking my email and here every 2 minutes.

My guess is that at this point they pretty much have only wait-list or rejection notifications to give out...

I put in a ticket with ITS as well and got a follow up email saying that my "exchange account" was created. So I am now ****@email.unc.edu and not ****@live.unc.edu anymore. However, she asked if I needed an @MED email aliases. I replied yes, but these different email account types are confusing me.

Haha, you'll are too obsessive. Go read a book, take a bike ride, have a drink, whatever! Worrying isn't going to make news come any faster or slower.

@email.unc.edu was the old general email address format. The undergrad student body was recently migrated to @live.unc.edu. As a med student, you will have @med.unc.edu.

Thanks for the info!

Called recently and was told we could be hearing something either the end of this week or next week. I realize that's still vague, but that's the best I've got.

Thanks for calling!!

Ahhhh more waiting!

Rejected via email just now 🙁 So much for the 7 months of waiting.

Is that news or frustration? If it's frustration, I'm right there with you.

rejected (surprise because both my interviewers told me post-interview their unsolicited opinion that I'm very likely to be accepted)

Rejected. Couldn't they have rejected me asap instead of waiting for 7 months...

Rejected. E-mail from my main man Eric Shuler at 5:01 PM.+pity+

Waitlisted. IS, 3.82 / 29. Interviewed mid October.

interviewed first day. rejected last day. 😴 but home to CA i go! 😉

Waitlisted as well, but was unable to log in to supersaas. Anyone else having this issue?

Me too! When I tried to enter my email and password it said "The application was deleted by its owner." Probably just some technical glitch but it still makes me nervous that it's saying my application was deleted!

Yeah, I had curiously similar experience. I am a reapplicant and both of my interviewers were surprised that I was a reapplicant. Both explicitly commented at the end of my interview that they didnt know why I was rejected previously but that they thought I had a great shot this year. But then.... 5 months later.... rejected.

Anyone heard anything yet?

Computer issue has been fixed, was able to login to supersaas successfully! Almost had a heart attack...

On a side note, do you know if UNC is willing to discuss with you what the strengths and weaknesses of your application were? And if they are, what is the best way of contacting them (i.e. what email address would you use?) I kind of want to send the office an email asking for feedback on how I can improve myself as a candidate for the next cycle.

They will do admissions consultations in late May or early June. I spoke with Joni about it last cycle, but they will not schedule a meeting if you are on the wait list at another school.

Rejected too :/ good luck to everyone on the waitlist!

Anybody know how many people are typically on the wait list?

From what I read on previous year's threads, the general consensus is that the wait list is roughly 35 people. However, UNC gives out more acceptances than spots before making the wait list and the wait list is only utilized once enough people have dropped to bring the number of offers back below the size of the class. It also said the wait list is not ranked and the Dean has the final decision on who gets in off the wait list.

Hey guys…If you are wanting a fix to the email chaos, here is what I did:

First, go to http://help.med.unc.edu and click on the live chat box to speak with a SOM IT person.
This person will validate your live.unc.edu email info, and ask for your ONYEN, PID, etc and will submit a ticket to the Exchange Email Admin team. He said I should have my [email protected] email by tomorrow morning.

Hope this helps!

so is ur email all set up and running now? i did the same thing and the IT told me that they are working on it and that they would contact me soon, but nothing so far...

So before all of this med.unc.edu stuff - I don't even know what my PID is haha. How does one find that?
