Long time lurker.
Rejected today, bummed and a little surprised to be honest, but what are you gonna do? Thought I would just post my info for anyone interested in getting a sense of who Cooper seems to be interested in. Also should note that I have received an interview request at NYMC, one other reject, and a "pre interview hold" at another.
NYC area Post-Bacc Student, 3.6 GPA
Northeast area Undergrad, 3.3 GPA
MCAT 34
Good amount of research experience.
Also… pet peeve.
This is a rude and unprofessional way to talk about someone in a forum, particularly from a medical student. I'm fine if no one else feels this way, but asking about Cooper's accreditation is a legitimate question and responding by attacking someone's "stats" is obnoxious and childish.
Interview is two to one. It was a conversational interview and They were really nice. In addition to the regular interview you are going to be seeing standardized patients. They give you two cases and you will have to question the patients. It seems scary but it really isn't, they only want to see how you communicate and behave around patients.

I just got priority wait listed. I hope there is enough movement to get me into this school. 🙂 I loved the school and the staff. Good to know I am not out of the running!
Congrats! Did your waitlist email specifically say that you were priority? Trying to figure out if there are two waitlists.
Thanks!
Yah, my message says priority. 🙂Congrats! Did your waitlist email specifically say that you were priority? Trying to figure out if there are two waitlists.
Thanks!
I interviewed that same day and was accepted also !My first acceptance!!! Interviewed Friday 10/10. OOS. Head over heels for this school!
So i kinda wanna pick you guys' brains. OOS aaplicant here. No ties to NJ. Non trad applicant - excellent work history - committment to community medicine - weak undergrad (3.0) - strong grad (4.0) and strong post bacc (4.0). Weak MCAT (Mid 20's). I have spent a considerable amount of money so far on apps and secondaries. Given my stats and my OOS status, is it even worth completing the secondary here? My personal goals are aligned with their mission statement but what are my odds?
I thought that was odd, too, so I called and ask about it a few days ago. They said we should select the Feb date and reserve our spot, and also email the admissions director to request that we be added to the waitlist for an earlier interview (since there may be cancellations). Hope this helps!Did anyone else recently get an II and is concerned about how there are no open interview dates until February?! I've only gotten an II from one other school, and I got to interview 1 month after the invite, so I guess I'm not sure about what is normal for Cooper.

I interviewed in Feb (2 years ago), was waitlisted, bumped up to priority, and accepted in May. It was stressful but I very much love where I am. There's no guarantees about getting in but I think that if you really want to be in medical school you owe it to yourself to take every opportunity you get.
Hey so in most cases, at least from my classes perspective, people hear back within a week. There are some circumstances however where that doesn't work out as initially planned for a couple reasons. Sometimes the sheer quantity of interviewees the admissions board has to go over results in a session causes them to have to wait until the next meeting to finish due to time constraints. Also you have to understand that a lot of the interviewers are actually doctors from Cooper and as such are often on call and get pulled away before being able to provide their input on the applying student. I know the waiting sucks (trust me haha) but its better they wait and make sure to thoroughly discuss each applicant than try to rush it. Also one other reason why some students had to wait a little while (especially at the beginning of the cycle) is because there is actually a specific date that is the earliest possible day at which students can be alerted if they got in or not so some students interviewed well before that day and thus had to wait until that day came around to find out if they got in or not. I haven't heard of anyone at least in my class having to wait months but here are some of the reasons it may take longer than a week. Hope this helps =)so they say that ur file goes to admissions committee wednesday after you interview and decisions are sent next day. If that is the case then why is it taking some people months to hear back? Can someone shed some light on this?

hmm. i got an ii over a month ago and at that time the earliest available date was in january.
has anyone been able to change their interview date to get an earlier one?
Good luck to everyone currently applying! I'm bored and procrastinating studying so if anyone has any questions for me i'll try and answer if I see them! I'm currently an M1 and loving every moment of this year 🙂
If I recall correctly, I think that it was around early to late april- During it we basically were given a slightly more thorough tour without the overwhelming stress of the interview looming our head. We also took a reallllly quick tour around the hospital had some students come in (I think) for a q&a. I dont remember too much from it unfortunately but I hope this at least somewhat answers your question =)around when is second look? and what do you do during it?
Already rejected but saw this article recently and thought this would be a good place to share.... I know that scathing Rolling Stone's article may have scared some people away but hopefully this makes people feel a little better about Camden (although it seems that convo has sailed away so I guess I'm changing the wind direction 🙂 ) : http://www.economist.com/blogs/democracyinamerica/2014/12/police-and-people
