2014-2015 Florida State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can someone please tell me why some of us haven't heard anything at all? 🙁 Im either at or above their average matriculating stats and I've been complete since september... Is it because I'm a gator?? Kind of freaking out here...

It is definitely not because you are a Gator🙂 I am a fellow Gator that was accepted. This process is very frustrating...stay positive! May I ask when you were completed? Also, have you sent any update letters?

First, Congrats!!! And I was complete 9/12(?) No, I haven't sent any update letters yet. Should I do that ASAP?

Thank you!!! 🙂 I am very excited. And yes, I would highly recommend sending an update letter. Maybe two paragraphs stating what have you been doing and why you would love to attend FSU COM and how great it would be to interview and visit the school. Word or PDF and send it to the admissions email.

Does anyone know if students are ever notified the same day that a final decision is made by the adcom or if they wait until the following day to make calls?

Keep them good vibes coming Sax

Apparently, my application just became complete at FSU (I submitted in mid-September).

Is this a joke...?

is that a warhammer guy?
I think so? A guy who did graphics mods in a forum I used to frequent made the image. I think he was into a Warhammer 40K mod, so probably.

Has anyone had an interview yet where they've specifically mentioned the Bridge to Clinical Medicine program to you ??

hey does anyone else have their email forwarded to a different email. The email FSU med and other med schools have is different from what they are forwarded to... Is it possible that some emails may have been dropped?? Because that would be the most unfortunate thing ever. 🙁

What do you mean forwarded? What email are you sending to

Interviewed last week. Loved the school and the people.
They gave me a handbook that said they interviewed 320 last year, accepted 180 and 120 matriculated so there I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in post-interw. They also said they accept around 20 people for the bridge program from the pool of those wait-listed and invitation is sent in late may. These individual usually fit a certain profile :come from medically underserved areas or socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and stated interest in primary care. If you fit this profile, you might a pretty good chance of getting into the program.

Hi does anyone have any input on second look. Is it worth going to? I am not currently in tallahassee so I wasn't sure if it is worth the drive if I am definitely going there (ED) thanks

Welcome to the team Fruit Loop! So psyched to have you as a potential future classmate 😀

Received an acceptance around 11:30 😍
Congratulations!!!! May I ask when did you interview? Did they call you or email you? I interviewed last week just trying to figure out how long it takes.

I was accepted yesterday around 11:30am as well! I'm super excited!

For those asking how long it takes to hear back it took a little less than two weeks. The way they explained it on interview day is that they meet up the Tuesday after your interview so that your interviewers can speak on your behalf and then the Tuesday after that a smaller committee has one last meeting and they make the official decisions. It looks like the day after that meeting is when they let us know. I hope that helps clear up any confusion/ eases the nerves of those awaiting a decision!

Is anyone else having trouble getting accepted into the facebook group?

Any current students here? If I have minimal interest in Family Medicine (I have tremendous respect for it , but I just don't think it's my cup of tea) would I not fit in with the rest of the student body?

Primary care is not just Family Medicine. It encompasses OBGYN, pediatrics, internal medicine and family medicine.
Even though their mission is to create doctors that will practice primary care in Florida, they respect other fields.

I know several people that are current students at FSU with a variety of specialty interests and they all have had an amazing experience. They speak wonders about the school.

GL to you 🙂

For those who interviewed in the past two weeks, we should be hearing news today (according to what mostpeople are reporting). Regardless of what is gonna happen, I just can't believe I've gotten this far. Im very thankful. Good luck to all of us still waiting.

Good luck to you all! i am still waiting for an interview

Most of us are actually not currently actively pursuing family medicine. There are many people with interest in primary care and most of us want to serve underserved populations, but most people are undecided as to what they want. For the most part, you won't really know your specialty choice until 3rd year when you start rotating through the various options.

Was expecting to hear back today...interviewed fourth week of jan. Anyone hear anything at all?

I was also expecting news today . Also interviewed the 4th week of January.

OMG this wait is killing me :/
Same here. I've been checking my e-mail every minute of the day, yesterday and today. lol. I guess we just have to be patient, hopefully we will hear back today. My girlfriend received her acceptance from FSU on a Thrusday at 5:10 pm so it could be possible we'll be hearing back later on today.
