2014-2015 Florida State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Same here. I've been checking my e-mail every minute of the day, yesterday and today. lol. I guess we just have to be patient, hopefully we will hear back today. My girlfriend received her acceptance from FSU on a Thrusday at 5:10 pm so it could be possible we'll be hearing back later on today.

Yeah, not quite sure why there is a delay. They did say that we would hear back yesterday but mentioned that there could be a delay due to the committee not being able to meet or possibly some other miscellaneous reason that comes up.

Yeah, I just hope it's all for the best and that the wait will bring us good news. Btw, I'm also from Miami.

Thanks!! Yeah I was informed via email!

Congrats! I'm happy to see they schedule interviews within a couple of weeks of the the actual interview. Around what time were you complete? I'm wondering if there is any hope left for those who had their apps in super early, like July...

I was complete around 9/17!
But I wouldn't lose hope!

I have an interview on Feb. 13. I received an invite on Jan 23. Any advice from others who have interviewed.

Can someone please tell me why some of us haven't heard anything at all? 🙁 Im either at or above their average matriculating stats and I've been complete since september... Is it because I'm a gator?? Kind of freaking out here...

Be patient. I received an invite on Jan. 23 and I'm a gator as well.

how many total students? i feel fsu is more biased to northern florida. im from central florida have been complete since july. stats are above fsu's average but unfortunately they dont focus much on stats anyways =/

At my interview day in December, there were about 80% Gators there

For current students, how did you go about finding housing/roommates? Do the best housing options fill up quickly?

are they still extending interview invites? when will last interviews go out?

Received II late last week. They didn't explicitly mention any final interview date. They just noted the earliest available date (a few weeks from now) and to choose a Monday or Friday session sometime thereafter. So, Interview Invites are definitely still on the way out!

Congrats! I hope I hear soon.

So what is the deal with Second Look? Is it recommended to go to? What is the attire?

I believe it is geared towards students that have not decided what school to attend. It is an opportunity to learn more about the school, meet professors, students, and future classmates. Even though I have already decided to attend FSU, I am going because I am only 2 hours away and I want to meet professors and future classmates.

As to the dress code...I have no clue. I don't believe it is formal.

Okay yea I wasn't sure if it was worth a 2 hour drive to go there but I guess it helps to be seen by professors and meet some new potential classmates. Thanks

I'm a little worried about the housing situation because every complex I like has terrible reviews. I know I should take those with a grain of salt but since I live in south Florida and know nothing about Tally, I'm stuck depending on them. Can any current FSU/FAMU/Tallahassee students please suggest some decent apartment complexes near the school? I'm looking for a 1/1 or a 2/2 (I would need a female roommate for this one if anyone's interested) apartment. Thank you so much!

Im driving up there on wednesday to look around, so I will report back with anything I find. I found that most places close to campus you probably want to avoid. I am going to be looking to move 10-15 minute drive away from campus and there seems to be nice, quiet, clean, safe places there. If you want to walk to campus I think you are going to have to put up with noise and ****ty real estate companies but if you don't mind driving, since they allow us to park on campus I think there are nice places

Yeah, I figured that much. The only reason I kind of want to stay close to campus is because I hear parking is terrible and I've lived that commuter life before so I know how stressful that can be. Let me know if you find anything decent 🙂

I have been told that the Luxe on West Call is very nice but expensive. It is within walking distance though.

I have also been told that parking on campus is a nightmare since everyone is allowed to park...so to find parking near the school, you will have to get there early in the morning.

I have heard great things about the Luxe on West Call, Grand Marc and three zero two apts

Yea I feel that the whole parking is Terrible thing, you have to take with a grain of salt. Download FSU Transportations app and you can see how full the parking lots are in realtime. I am a very early riser so I plan on getting to campus before 9am, and every day when I look at that app there are parking spaces. Even on the day of my interview which was in the afternoon I found parking by just driving around a little bit. But I completely understand people who would rather not commute, I just would never sacrifice noise-free safe living for proximity

I've had to spend 20+ min looking for parking at 9am at my current university so I take all the parking warnings to heart, lol. That being said, my decision on where to live isn't going to be made solely based on proximity. Comfort, cleanliness, and safety come first for sure!

Don't cross Tennessee Street if you are looking for apartments for FSU Med school...that's a really bad idea, some of the worst crime in the city happens there. I toured the Luxe, and it is really nice but REALLY expensive. It isn't that you want to avoid most places that are close to FSU Med, it is that you want to avoid ones on the wrong side of Tennessee, IMHO.
