Got a pre-interview nonspecific rejection letter basically saying "try again." Huge bummer. I plan to head up there sometime and find out why I was rejected, as Shreveport was my first choice and I want to go there (despite having to take the new MCAT). I'm really curious as to why. My numbers aren't great, and I have a hunch that my sGPA derailed my application. I don't know if one of my LORs helped too much, either, but that's just an unsubstantiated gut feeling and I had several other great LORs.
A little about me: First-time applicant, 26 MCAT (8PS;8VR;10BS), sGPA 3.13, cGPA 3.38. Tons of work hours in the clinical environment, including both volunteer and job experience in different medical settings. Nothing really in terms of leadership experience or research, but I do have multiple ECs that I am active in.
In regards to my sGPA, would I have a shot at acceptance if I re-applied with solid postbac grades one year from now? Or is this the type of damage that requires multiple years to fix?
