2014-2015 University of California - Davis Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I was told that this year they're moving the date up from May 15th to April 30th as the day where people can only hold 1 acceptance. So I think waitlist movement will happen earlier this cycle as opposed to previous cycles. Can anyone confirm this?

Just a quick question here.
I understand admissions will not accept any updates or additional letters of Rec from applicants after being put on the wait-list, but i'm curious if anyone here knows if they are receptive to calls from UCD faculty/MD's to endorse wait-listed candidates?

It's April 30 this year.

9. If youreceive an offer of acceptance from more than one school or program, choose the school at which you will enroll by April 30. Then, promptly withdraw your application, by written correspondence, from all other schools or programs that have offered you an acceptance.

Interviewed 3/20. Waitlisted 4/3. Hoping for massive waitlist movement. Good luck everyone!

I am hoping for movement off the waitlist as well. Does anyone know if UCD usually has a lot of movement?

I heard like one year it was almost half the waitlist, last year it wasn't much. So I think it will vary this year too...=/

They mentioned at the interview that they were being more conservative with the number of acceptances this year as opposed to last year.

Thanks for the info! Hopefully some of us can get some luck then! 🙂

Will there be/was there a second look for this year?

Im on the waitlist and I was wondering if UCD accepts letters of interest or updates from people on the waitlist.

unfortunately they are NOT receptive to letters 🙁

So if we're on the waitlist, can they call us anytime after 4/30 to tell us we're accepted? (or email us anytime to tell us we're rejected?) If so, I'm going to be a nervous wreck after the 30th. It's like waiting for your crush to text you back haha.

I think so!

From what I've read in previous years, I think they send out rejections by mail. If you receive a call, it should be a good sign!

Aaaaaaaaaaand the rejection nightmares are coming once again. I woke up at 3 am drenched in sweat because I dreamt I got rejected. Bleh.

Come on UCD, be good to us waitlist-ers this year! I'm willing to sit on the floor of the lecture halls, you don't even need to have a chair for me!

So you know that feeling where your stomach has been constantly in knots because you've been on the waitlist since November and May is finally here but you don't want to feel too excited and get your hopes up but you can't help yourself because going to med school is all you've ever dreamed about since as far back as remember?

Yea, it's only going to worse in the next few days... :/

Right there with you. Stay strong, friend.

.... and chest tightness, can't forget about chest tightness. I was also waitlisted in November. I feel like I've been holding my breath this entire week and I won't be able to breath comfortably until I hear any news. But like leela13 says, stay strong. =)

Just to give you WL'ers an update, currently admitted students still have not received their financial aid offers. We're all hoping to get it before decision day tomorrow. But I think this has delayed people making their final decision, and IMO will probably delay movement on the waitlist. So take a deep breath, I think the wait is going to be a bit longer. 🙁

Thanks for the update! But ughh more waiting 🙁

Well...I've been on the waitlist since August, so I feel you. xD

Anyone else didn't get their financial aid package yet?

@pDeluxe, are we going to be ok committing to Davis without fin aid in hand? This is kinda scary.

I hope those of you on the waitlist will here back soon, and for those of you that have committed to UC Davis, welcome! We're glad to have you and look forward to seeing you guys in a few months time.

The wait is killing me...UCD is my last shot to become an MD. I don't think I've ever wanted something so badly before.

I'm more stressed out now than I was about that white and gold/blue and black dress thing

Only your last shot if you stop trying. Keep that chin up and think positive thoughts.

So I called the admissions office today and spoke with someone. They said that they have begun the process of accepting people off of the waitlist, and that it will continue until their first day of orientation. Good luck everyone; I really hope that all of us waitlisters get a call very soon!!!
