2014-2015 University of California - San Diego Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I submitted and am planning to pay by credit card once the system is back up. From the way the page looks post secondary submission, it looks like this will be possible.

Does UCSD not have a way to pay by credit card? All I see is a "pay by check" option.

oh i guess they didnt completely fix it yet then

Hi guys, first time posting.

To pay with credit card, you need your routing and account number, which can be found in your bank statements online or in your mail. Hope that helps! Good luck to you all.

Welcome to SDN, and thanks for the info.

I just received the "we have received your AMCAS" email. I was verified on 7/9, so I was worried that I had been screened out, but the link they sent me said the following:

"We need your SSN to create a UCSD student record. Please click on the button to the right to transmit your SSN via our secure website. YOUR FILE WILL NOT BE REVIEWED FOR A POSSIBLE SECONDARY APPLICATION UNTIL YOU COMPLETE THIS STEP."

So don't worry if you haven't gotten a secondary yet, it seems like they're just behind in processing the primary's and sending these emails out. 🙂

In other words, you cannot pay with a credit card... Got it.

Also, FWIW you can find your routing and account number off of one of your checks. Typically much easier. But whatever works.

Anyone know what the lag time is between AMCAS marking your letters as received and San Diego acknowledging that the application is complete? AMCAS marked my letters as received today! (Finally!)

UCSD doesn't acknowledge the arrival of your letters or that your application is complete. Except by way of the status page saying they've received your complete secondary application.

How long after verification did people get the request for SSN email? I added UCSD late, but I've been verified since before June 27th.

I was verified before 6/27 and got my SSN request on 7/7, Single Sign-on request email 7/10, and Secondary app 7/11

Just got an e-mail today about completing the Single Sign-on authentication. When I check my status it still says that my SSN has been submitted but a student file hasn't been created yet. I feel like I gave them my SSN ages ago.

Please love me, UCSD!!!

submitted my secondary today, please show me some love SD. i'm already in love with you, but i need something in returnnn!!

Only UC secondary that I have not received yet. I was verified on 7/21. Any chance I could still get one from UCSD? Anyone know when they send pre-secondary rejections?

I hope so! I received this e-mail yesterday, and I was verified on 7/8.

Dear Applicant:

You should have recently received an e-mail from us informing you that we’ve received your verified primary application from AMCAS.

We are still in the process of reviewing files, but to help expedite our process, we ask that applicants complete the UCSD “Single Sign-On” authentication to establish a password and gain access to UCSD campus systems that we use in the admissions process. Specifically, at this point in the process, you will need to establish this account or you would not be able to access the secondary application if you are in fact invited to complete the secondary application.

Please visit the UCSD Single Sign-On initial sign-in page at https://www-act.ucsd.edu/manage-sso/applicant to activate your UCSD campus account.

To begin the process, you will need the following information:

1. AMCAS ID (referred to as Application ID),

2. your email address used on your original AMCAS application

3. City of Birth

4. Date of Birth

Once you have completed the authentication process, the system will issue you a “PID” number and require you create a password. Please write down or memorize your PID and remember your password. After completing this process, there may be a delay of 24 – 48 hours before this PID/Password will become active. After 24 – 48 hours, you should be able to log in to our status check page by going to https://meded.ucsd.edu/asa/admissions/applicants_no_sso/

Should you have questions or encounter any problems with the authentication process, please contact us at [email protected] or 858-534-3880

A reminder: additional screening will be done to determine if you will be invited to submit a secondary application. The initial screening for the possible secondary application can take roughly 6-8 weeks. Should you be approved for a secondary application, we will notify you at that time via email.

Best wishes!

Sincerely,

Admissions Office
UCSD School of Medicine

Oh looks like I may have to wait then. I was verified on 7/21! Hope I get this secondary too.

on your status pages, do you guys see interview date scheduled as an option? when i submitted my secondary like an hour ago, i saw it. but then when i went back to check my status again, that section "interview date scheduled" wasn't there anymore.

some of these admissions site's are a little glitchy. but my status page just has a "Hold for interview" and then a -- next to it.

Verified 7/21. Been asked for SSN. No secondary yet. Come on, I want to surf at Black beach.

Looks my alma mater has less love for me this year than last year! Almost a month since my SSO email and still no secondary, despite getting one last cycle. However I got a UCLA secondary this cycle that I didn't last cycle, so I guess it's a wash.

what are your stats?

Been sitting on this secondary for WAY too long.

I wrote a complete draft, but then realized that I had totally neglected my young life (pre-college). As a non-trad, it's pretty tough to fit 30+ years into a couple thousand characters! Anyone else skip secondary school years, etc? I want to make sure that I respond to the prompt, but frankly there's nothing in my childhood worth mentioning.

Did you all receive a bill statement email from UCSD today? I had some trouble paying, so I want to make sure that I wasn't the only one who did!

Hahaha I was surprised and thught I was paying tuition already 😉

I was verified in early June and sent them my SSN almost a month ago... 35 MCAT and > 3.9 GPA IS, any chance I could still get a secondary? This is my #1 absolute dream school and ironically the only secondary I have not received. (Got UCLA and UCSF already)

It took me over a month to get their secondary (LizzyM > 75) so I think you definitely still have hope. I can't see any reason why you'd get screened out with your stats! Check your spam folder just in case.

+1. Only that I was verified ~10 days ago.

🙁 I've had that SSO email since 7/10, still nothing. Please love me again UCSD!

You think II's will start coming out?
Does UCSD give post secondary rejections?

yes - if the hold for interview says no, then you're no longer being considered

For those that submitted the secondary, did you guys ever receive a complete email?
