Has anyone been rejected post-interview?

I've been wondering this myself. My guess is that they don't start rejecting interviewees until later months-- it wouldn't make sense to make a rejection on an interviewed application unless there was a really good reason. Like all of your interviewers wrote a big fat "NO!" on your report sheets. The most probable guess is that they would just keep passing up (deferring) your file until April/May, and then reject in May if they can't agree to place you on the wait-list or something.

Any status changes seen yet today, fellow interviewees?

Last year I did not received a rejection letter in the mail until May.

EDIT: I was "applicant in progress" the whole time, never interviewed.

I thought "applicant in progress" meant they haven't looked at your application yet. Did they just completely pass you over last year? I ask because I'm seriously on edge here still being "in progress" myself.

On Thursdays you can call the admissions office and speak with a counselor. I would recommend that or a xanax or both.

To be honest I wasn't addicted to checking my portal, so I don't 100% know if it ever when to "in process", but I doubt it. I know it was for sure still "in progress" till the end of March. It is very very possible that many applications are never seriously considered for an interview. Schools get thousands of apps every year, there is no way they can look at all of them. Again, all of this is speculation, but I would guess that applications are only moved to "in process" when they are seriously being considered for interview. Some are passed over, some are outright rejected.

Also, I really hate to make anyone sad, but last year my friend was reapplying her second year in a row, and she (once again) didn't hear anything, same as me. Finally, in April, she decided to make an appointment and meet with an admissions counselor. He told her that in his opinion, her application was competitive and there were no red flags or weird issues. He proceeded to explain that in all honesty, 50% of the process is luck! (for those that are wondering, she had good stats: decent GPA, above 30 MCAT, ECs, and research) These are his words, not mine. And I believe it 110%. It definitely depends who is going through applications that day, who reads your personal statement, how many apps they've already put in consideration for interview that day, etc. However, don't give up hope. It is still sooo very possible to get an ii. I wish you the best of luck!

See, that's rude. Maybe you should wait for your MD to give out prescriptions.

EDIT: Also, you know, as well as I do, that the admissions people give out very minimal useful information. When I called last year, all they told me (in Feb) was that applications take an average of 12 weeks to be reviewed post completion date, and that it might be soon, I should keep checking my portal. I was complete in early September.

oh hell, I was complete in July and I'm still on "progress"

Did you send any updates after your submission?

If people are so into this being a professional and strict thread, then how is telling someone to take a xanax for asking a question, a joke? I just don't get it. Anyway, I'm done. Apparently my posts don't help the majority, so I'm done wasting my time posting them. @kscbj25 if you, or anyone else, have any questions that you think I could help you with, feel free to PM me. Good luck!

@ccrod2014 I'm really sorry if you're upset. I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers here. For the record, I do find your posts helpful. Any information from any perspective is always helpful.

FINAL DECISION MADE, WHAT DOES THIS MEAAAAAAAAAN, I CAN'T BREATHE

Damn it! No change for me yet! 🙁 @EEB Yay! Do you have "additional correspondence" at the top?

Yes, what does that mean? Wouldn't it be there either way? It says additional correspondence, but nothing next to it. I'm so nervous!! Something from last year says if you don't receive an email along with it, it's bad? I left my interview feeling on top of the world, then I had a week to think about what I said, and now I don't feel so great

Lol, take a breath, I am sure your interview was great! Usually final decision/addition correspondence means your accepted! You won't know for sure until you get your acceptance packet in the mail, which could take 7-10 days or more, depending on where you live! I think this means good news for you. 🙂

Anecdotally, my buddy had the same status last month and got an acceptance package shortly thereafter. I'm hoping for the same.

Huh? He/she said "BEFORE interview." Implies rejection.
Hi, when you were accepted, does the additional correspondence tab have anything next to it? Also, how long before you received a CBC email? Thanks. My status just changed and I'm freaking out.

Crap, my status didn't change either, still "Decision Pending." Let's face it, being deferred means the greater chance is that you will not receive an acceptance. The question now is did we get deferred, or is the system not updated for everyone yet as has been suggested here. For those that received a status change this month, did you guys interview in January, or in December?

Interviewed 2nd week of January and status just changed to Final Decision + Add correspondence today.
Has anyone seen ppl getting rejected even after addtl correspondence status? why can't they just let us know online?

Anyone who was deferred last month fortunate enough to see a status change???

I'm really freaking out. @EEB please disregard when I told you to breathe, I totally get it now. I just checked my status, and it went to "A Final Decision was made on your application on ...." BUT THERE'S NO "ON..." DATE IT JUST SAYS ON AND THEN A PERIOD, AND THERE IS NO ADDITIONAL CORRESPONDENCE TAB YET.
I feel like it's incomplete.... like they haven't finished updating all the way or some crap. Why would there be no date?
I am so terrified.
Did this happen to anyone else, or am I really doomed?

When did your status change?

Please ignore my earlier message. You had already answered my question in your post.

I haven't been accepted to UIC yet. I still have "Decision Pending."

Interviewed 2nd week of January and status just changed to Final Decision + Add correspondence today.
From what I have heard, the CBC comes in after 1-4 days of status change. If you were accepted from other schools and already completed the CBC then you don't get one again.
Somebody correct me if I am wrong,

I have the add. correspondence today! I interviewed on Jan 9, so hopefully this does mean i got accepted 🙂)) this is such a critical time seeing that chicago usually fills by early-mid feb. yayy

I also have this. i'm going to try and upload a screenshot...did anyone who got accepted have a status change that looked like this? Or is this indeed a rejection:/?

Mine was changed today also to additional correspondence. A find decision was made 1/22/15. Please allow 2 weeks to receive the correspondence in the mail.

Mine said final decision made 1/22/15. Additional correspondence.. I should get something in two weeks in the mail. Not sure what that means?

no CBC email yet, that's a bad thing???
I was accepted in November, and didn't have a CBC e-mail. I did get one recently (around Jan 20, over two months after acceptance) from AMCAS about a background check, which is probably it.)

I think that means you're accepted! (I was cautiously optimistic until I had the package in my hands, though). Fingers crossed for you!

I sure hope so! I interviewed last week and felt pretty good about it, but you never know.

Got my placement today. Literally the worst possible one. I may be taking another year off...

How do they make these decisions?

How does the process work? Did you list your preference?

Yeah. They sent me a card and told me to rank them in the order I'd prefer. Chicago - Urbana -Rockford - Peoria

I've got to figure out how to tell my fiance... *Sigh* This damn school.

Tell her Peoria is not so bad. The medical community here is strong.

I'm not too worried about the education. She has a full-time job as a teacher in Chicago (but another conversation for another place).
