2014-2015 University of Michigan Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Isn't that mostly for patient/hospital staff transactions?
No, its is patients, vendors, consultants, etc anyone having business with the Health System.
Basically no gifts to faculty/staff at the university, except for de minimis stuff to be shared by a unit (a box of chocolates, etc).

What really gets noticed is a nice note about the admissions staff to the Admissions Dean Gay and Medical School Dean Woolliscroft. They usually get all the complaints, so nice notes get attention!!

There's quite a distinction between working for the university (UMMS) and working for the health system (UMHS). I can't imagine a doctor/nurse/janitor/etc. from the hospital gets paid from the same fund as the medical school admissions committee.

Regardless, I'd recommend contacting the office about sending any "Thank You" gifts if you're that worried. For example, as far as I know, there aren't rules about UM professors accepting thank you gifts (monetary or not) from students.

Thanks for the info. It'll be weird to ask someone if they'd like a surprise. :p We'll send something that have a transient value (<10days) and doesn't cost much. So I don't think we need to worry about getting them into trouble.

I think letters of appreciation will mean a lot more than anything tangent anyone could send them :)

Are there any current students I can talk to about MD/MBA? I know that we have to apply to Ross by taking GMAT etc, but are we applying as a 'fresh' MBA applicant or is there any kind of preference given to medical students? What is the GMAT range required for entrance into this program?

Hi All!

If anyone is looking for a roommate in the Ann Arbor area or has a room open for rent, please message me! I am a third year grad student coming to Ann Arbor to complete my final clinical requirements at the U of M hospital for my doctorate in Physical Therapy. I don't know anyone in the Ann Arbor area but would love to live with fellow grad students, as I will be studying often and value people in a similar stage of life. Good luck with everything and congratulations on your acceptance at the University of Michigan!

Don't know if anyone asked this already but does anyone know if U of M drug tests its med students? If so, is it all 4 years or just before clinical 3rd and 4th years?

Any info would he helpful bc trying make the most out of the summer we left

Brother is M2, not drug tested in M1. However, if there is any suggestion, they can randomly drug test you at any time.

Current applicant here, just notified of a deferral. Anyone have any success stories about getting accepted off the deferred list?
