Okay the group name is unmc com class of 2019

Admittedly, I spend very little time on FB, but I couldn't find the group...ideas?

Noahh5 hope you are okay with me posting the link. If not, I will surely take it down.

I did have some problems making it available to search, but I believe now the group will appear when searched.... if you have not found it yet.

it may be hard to find since we all presumably don't have any connections to it (ie friends in the group, etc) and the fact that it's a very new group. that's why I figured I would post the link since I found it. it did take some creative Boolean strings though!

Nice job. When did you graduate college if you don't mind me asking? Im still caught up on that "22 year olds don't get accepted" statistic on the brochure.

May 2014. I will be 23 at matriculation. I will admit that o have a strangely UNMC heavy app in my opinion when it comes to research, almost all of my shadowig, clinic volunteering and two MD letters

I'll be 22 when I matriculate. From what I've heard, that may have more to do with the fact that most people applying in their 3rd year of college haven't taken as many senior-level classes

All you accepted folks, make sure you join the FB page (if you have a FB).

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1544067975867688/

btw, totally forgot to bring the acceptance packet with me to work... can anybody tell me what I need to do to "accept"? Can I just call in? I know there is that deposit, I was probably just going to drop that off in person since it's about 5 minutes from my house.

From what I remember, they want a letter from you saying that you accept their offer along with the deposit.

Okay I will probably just call anyway. I'll post what they say.

Also, FWIW, I just got the generic AAMC background check email 19 minutes ago as well.

Did anyone else get info in their acceptance packet about the coed medical fraternity?

So now it sounds like there's three different ways you can find out about your acceptance? Big envelope, small research envelope, or AAMC background check email?

Anyone else get info on Phi Chi the coed medical fraternity? I'm touring it tomorrow and they said there is another student touring too... Maybe its one of you guys :)

Are there any current students that frequent this thread that could comment on general life, the frat, anything?

I toured Phi Chi today and I would highly suggest at least giving it a tour. It seems great and I have every intention of joining if they would have me :)

Also, I got correspondence telling me about my UNMC email... This is getting so real!

Its so quiet in here guys! Where is everyone??

I'll join the party if I get accepted...
I interviewed in October and there has been zero contact for me since. There isn't much to talk about!

Ya thats tough. Unfortunately I think we are all in that boat.. Just kinda how UNMC rolls lol

Nothing from them since my 10/10 interview as well....

Yeah, I interviewed 11/14, but they say random... so dates are hard to judge from if they hold true to what they say.

I'd be very happy with a wait list and am expecting a rejection, so it's been pretty easy for me to be patient.

Any accepted OOS students have any info about tuition? Some people at my interview said that their interviewer said no one actually pays full OOS tuition.

that's what they essentially said at my interview day. they basically said that OOS students usually end up getting scholarships that bring tuition down to in state level. obviously I'm doubting EVERY OOS gets that, but it must be normal enough for them to say that across multiple interview days

I wouldn't expect the same as IS, but if they could even bring it down to around 40-50/year, that'd be an absolute game changer.

I think at my interview they said about 10 OOS students get the scholarship that brings tuition down to in state but I don't know what happens to the other OOS

That could definitely be true. I vaguely remember something like that.

I think there are also scholarships for IS but it is dependent on class rank

From what they told us, the select few OOS who get scholarships are pretty much the only OOS ones who go, because of the chance that that won't get the scholarship, so all others who are accepted choose to go to other schools instead of taking the chance.. if that makes any sense. Scholarship awards subsidizing the OOS cost come out after the May deadline too, so it doesn't make much sense for most OOS who have other acceptances and are focused on their huge future debt. The financial aid presentation was certainly a downer. . Not a good choice for the last presentation of the day.

They told us that if you receive the OOS scholarship they'll let you know in your acceptance letter. I don't know if they offer them again after May if they end up with extras though, that would seem logical.

Also, has anyone heard about acceptances from December interviews? Mine was 12/12 so the two month mark is making me anxious today lol.

Haha fair enough, I'll be quiet :p I can handle waiting, but having no idea when we'll find out is easily the worst part. Bah!

yep, definitely the worst aspect about applying here (or any school that does it this way).

OOOOOOH WE SHOULD MAKE A SCATTER PLOT WITH INTERVIEW DATE VS. ADMISSIONS DECISION DATE AND SEE IF R=0!!!!

I actually love this idea. Let's take it a step further and make it a regression. Everyone send us your MCAT, GPA, age, number of community service hours, number of publications, and the ranking of your undergraduate institution.

much complicated. very data.

if we really want to include age, number of volunteer hours, etc we can... but I figured that got a little more complicated than we needed to get

let me know if you are all able to open this, view it, and edit it.

names are in simply in first come first served order, no need to alphabetize.
