Congrats to those with the wave of interview invites!! For all who didn't get a complete email, when you had checked on your status before the interview invitation did it say: "there is currently no decision at this time?"

Yep!

II OOS at 2pm PT today! Couldn't check email til 30 mins ago, but scheduled for 9/21.

Secondary received and app completed on 8/4/2015; only payment notifications received, no formal completion email, portal was "no decisions at this time" until I checked just now!

I got a formal complete email which doesn't seem like a good sign.... really like philly and the school too. 🙁

Completed within an hour of receiving the secondary, not a part of the II train 🙁

Anyone else getting the "Service Temporarily Unavailable" error when you try to check your status? It's been like that for several hours, now... just wanted to make sure it isn't something on my end.

Hi all! I'm a current MS1 at DUCOM. If you have any questions I will try my best at answering them 🙂

I've heard pretty bad reviews from friends about their interviews last cycle as well. Notably, one was interviewed in the clinic during clinic hours because the interviewer was running late and only asked 2 questions about poor grades followed by why Drexel? Other said that he just hated the experience and the current students "didn't seem to want to be there." I'm applying there this cycle and remain optimistic. I know some great physicians from the program who haven't had anything negative to say about it.

Not sure if someone addressed this already, but that was a big problem last year for people who had to go out of campus to interview. Earlier lat week admissions said that for this cycle all interviews will be on campus, so hopefully that'll be better for all the applicants. Also, interviewers tend to be different from person to person... I know some of my classmates had interviewers who spent only 10 to 15 minutes with them during the interview, and my interview lasted about 45 minutes to an hour.

awesome, thanks so much for doing this! i'm interviewing at drexel in less than 2 weeks and am really excited! do you know how many students get accepted? i know the class size is 260, do they accept 500? 600? also, anything you like/don't like about the school? finally, any tips for interview day? thanks!

I believe it's around 600 (but I could be wrong).
The best part of the school is that you get to choose between IFM and PIL, though I hear that they may be combining the 2 tracks in the future. I'm in PIL, and I'm liking it a lot so far. The faculty is pretty helpful and seem like they care about us. They are also pretty receptive to student feedbacks and are willing to improve. Oh, and it's P/F only for the first two years starting with our class, so no more honors/high pass/pass system! We still get ranked internally though, so there's that.

I don't like the fact that the two tracks hardly mix with each other (but then again, IFM has such a huge population that I doubt they will know every single one of them either). We will get to everyone in PIL track relatively well simply because of the sheer amount of time we'll be spending with each other hahaha.
That, and I think as you already know, technology isn't our strong suit. The system can be kinda slow (Secondary for some people will take forever to arrive for some mysterious reason; acceptance letter MUST be mailed.... etc) and our class website/app sometimes has hiccups, but we get around them fine.

As for tips for interview - It's pretty generic, but just be yourself and do some research on Drexel. Interviewers will usually ask "Why Drexel?" (I know mine did) as a way to see that whether you're actually interested in the school, or just using it as a back-up. The interview itself is pretty low-stress (unless you get that one interviewer who likes to ask the hard questions), and it's a great chance for you to ask them what they think of the school as well. The interviewers will have your files, and they'll probably ask something from your application if something catches their attention. Remember, the length of the interview itself does not mean anything! Having a short interview doesn't mean your interviewer doesn't like you. Also be prepared for some downtime in between... We had an hour of nothing to do during interview day that day... but then again, there'll be downtime b/w interviews for almost every school.

thank you so much for the detailed response. i was actually going to ask about the grading system cause i couldn't find that on the website, but i forgot. one of my favorite things about the school from my research so far is choosing between the two tracks, i like that it seems very personalized. on my portal, it says "integrated curriculum, not sure if it just says that until (if) you get accepted and eventually choose a track. thanks for the interview tips and your response and good luck with your first year!

I wonder how many people end up submitting their secondary out of the total applicants. I don't even remember if drexel had any essays though.

thanks so much for that link! i didn't know this information was out there!

I'm assuming that they didn't send out ii today??

lol, difficult to assume that. I don't really see Drexel's pattern of II, esp cause they don't even send out an email.

I didnt know that... do you know any other schools that don't send emails?

My mistake. I skimmed through the thread and everyone seemed to get their II before an email, so I got a bit confused.

I'm like 98% sure they don't email you for rejection though, but they put it on the portal so don't assume that there's no reason to ever check the portal.

Not to freak people out or anything... but I found my II via portal first... and the II email came two weeks later. Not days, but weeks. Some people get the II email a few days to a week after portal says II, and some get them up to 2 weeks to 3 weeks later.

IIRC, the portal updates every Thursday/Friday for II? I checked weekly around those days until I found the portal status change.

I'm probably overthinking this since the silence is just killing me but when you go to the application status page on the Drexel portal it states the dates my documents were received but not anything under "notes" or "status." Is this the case for anyone else? For some of the other schools I applied to there are at least comments under those sections like CC or PDF load.

@bikewolf2 is getting a complete email a bad thing? like have the people who got IIs not received one?

I'm a little confused about this "correlation" between a complete email and II...

@MedBlue515 I think so. I mean, the last few pages that I've looked at, I noticed that most if not all who received a II did not get a complete email. I mean, its only a few people though.

I did not receive a complete email and received an II as well.

Just adding to you guys' suspicions

Just submitted secondary yesterday. LOR's in. 516 MCAT, 3.4 ugrad, 3.8grad. OOS.

For what it's worth, I did not get a complete email and I did not receive an II during that first wave so it could all just be coincidence for all we know...it's too small of a pool of people mentioning IIs so I wouldn't worry about it!

that seems like the weirdest correlation but oh well! not getting an II here then!
