I don't know what everyone's ECs are but I know for a fact Gtown is all about the underserved, diversity, and holistic individuals (either through education or EC). The numbers are not everything!
Do I want to discount the jesuit undergrad? No. But theres no way its the primary reason you were given a II.

i hope i'm speaking for the rest of us when i say, i'm very happy you got that II 🙂 be proud of it, don't spend time comparing to others based on random stats. just cross your fingers we get IIs elsewhere!
does status still say 'in progress' for anyone else that got rejection today? mine does and i'm confused...
I would say it helps in the sense that an applicant coming from a Jesuit school might have a better understanding of the Jesuit mission at Georgetown. I went to a Jesuit high school AND undergrad, and I emphasized the Jesuit values heavily in my secondary. IMHO, I would suggest to applicants that don't come from a faith-based educational background to really research the school in order to understand how their experiences meet the mission of the school and how they can contribute to that culture. The Jesuits are a pretty liberal religious group (and pretty freakin' awesome, I might add). I'm 100% sure that Georgetown won't disclude someone based on faith, or lack thereof. Just like any school, they're looking for a diverse incoming class that will fit their culture in order to train physicians consistent with their mission. That being said, their goal is to train physicians "guided by . . . cura personalis" -- care for the individual person. So... (to everyone) how have you shown cura personalis in your life and particularly your premedical career?

Woah...harsh. Instead of mentioning someone elses "deficiencies" consider Georgetown's rep on this site. I find it very easy to believe they practice yield protection by rejecting kids they think won't go.
I think maybe it's neither deficiencies nor yield protection. I think they probably just have a specific type of student they're looking for (beyond the typical good grades, good MCAT, volunteering, and clinical experience). I think this means that many good applicants get rejected not because they were too good or not good enough, but because they just weren't the right type of applicant. Or, as the saying goes: "You could be the most delicious peach in the world, and there would still be someone who doesn't like peaches."

Agreed. I do think there is merit in the idea that Tulane would reject someone who has a 38+ MCAT from Maine with 30 hours of community service. Does the applicant fit with the school + would they actually attend, I imagine, are legitimate grounds to reject. I'm sure Georgetown is well aware that some students would consider them a "safety," whether justifiably or not.

Email. It's also in communication history on the portal even tho my status is still 'in progress'
Just checked, no email from them today, still "under review" via portal, probably just haven't put the bullseye on my app yet and pulled the trigger 😛

That analogy just perfectly summed up everything i am feeling right now. I don't know how many of us 7/9'ers there are left, hopefully we will hear good news soon!
A large majority of applicants, especially on here are extremely qualified, which is what make this process so much more terrifying lol, like I said before...I know there is a method to the madness, but looking from the outside it, it appears to be a total crapshoot.

actually don't feel too terrible about this, since it seems many much more qualified than me have also been rejected. But why reject all these people already Georgetown? Don't they want to wait till they have a larger applicant pool before they start sending out rejections? 🙁
